Quoted from boo32:I understand the need to have and I want to have machines with deep rule sets that keep me challenged for years. With the newer machines computing ability, it seems like you could have two or three difficulty settings that you select from at the beginning of the game. A simplified rule set with more obvious call outs and lit inserts could attract more casual players on location and in the home setting.
See, I think the LCD screen opens the door for such things. If a casual or first time player steps up, puts their coins in, and is able to select from Easy, Medium, or Hard, they will choose Easy. This setting could just be shooting the obvious shots to score points and the audio and screen could guide them on what to shoot for. Then once a player gets acclimated, they can work their way up.
I feel this would have been a lot more dificult with a DMD, but the LCD gives you a lot of options you wouldn't have had before. Let's see if anyone actually does anything like this though...
