I couldn't agree more, a verbal agreement was made and the buyer apparently was going to hold his end of the agreement. I guess someone's word doesn't mean much anymore.

Cash in hand and ready to pick it up as soon as the seller is available is the way to go.
Nobody wants to wait 3+ weeks for the sale.
I personally would have handled this issue privately instead of making a public display.
Also, anyone with little kids in the house may be delayed in responding.
I agree that it's probably not thread worthy, but if he couldn't or didn't want to wait, why agree to it in the first place?
