Lets start the story from a week ago, so come to find out my boss's neighbor/friend has a 1976 Williams Grand Prix pinball machine that he recieved in trade for doing some automotive work (owns a private shop at his home). Well, upon recieving it he knew it didnt work as told by the previous owner and he thought about keeping it just for decoration.

Well, my boss happens to tell him that i collect arcade & pinball machines which starts the conversation between me and the "neighbor" the next time he comes into our store. Well he says "The machine doesnt work, it doesnt power up but its in really good shape and just needs dusting and cleaning" Long story short, we agree upon a $300 price and he said i know your boss, just pay me when you can if you dont have it now. Just get it out of my office.

So, i bring it home, and had to wait to have assistance to get it in my house from my friend/neighbor. We get it inside, i plug it in and well low and behold no lights, nothing. So i flip the power switch like any normal person would do. POOF whole machine powers up and relays clicking and popping. Well i press the start button and what do you know, it starts a game! Somehow, between the previous owner and my boss's neighbor they couldnt figure out how to turn on the pinball. So i got a stellar deal tonight!!!

All it needs to get up to excellent shape is rubbers, new flipper links and flippers (they are stripped) some bulbs and a playfield cleaning and wax and shes good to roll!!!

Heres some pictures!!

It's my favorite EM. You can really rack up the score when you figure it out. No limit on the bonus awarded.

I thought you were going to say you replaced a fuse and it worked, but your story is even better.

Funny how things fall into one's lap from time to time. All the more amazing when it's completely unexpected. GP for $three? NICE!

I hate stories like this because they never happen to me.

Never is a long time. Keep your head up and your eyes open. You might just catch a break.

That is a really nice Grand Prix, especially for the money! It's a very fun game, probably my favorite Williams EM.

I remember going to a small gameroom in the neighborhood when I was young. The guy only had two machines in there at a time. Grand Prix came out when I was twelve (prime indoctrination age by the way) and was one of the two machines. Actually, he led off with Big Ben and Skylab but Big Ben later got swapped out for Grand Prix. Such a difference! Beautiful colors, backglass as well as playfield. Played that game quite a bit and got pretty good. The thing I remember most is hitting those spinners! Great spinners on this one! This EM will find a place in my stable... eventually. I'm sure there are others with fine memories of Grand Prix. You picked up a great classic. Hope you enjoy it for many years to come.

Yep, it's a dirty one. Should clean up real nice.
Congrats!

Are those threaded nails (the same that they use for pop bumpers) securing the flipper bushings factory???

Yup they go through the playfield and have bolt threads on the backside. See this is another one http://www.unisquare.com/images/1390738545d4bb9ec5c6b855n.jpeg

Nice playfield! I have deep ball wear across the top and some flipper wear in the white paint.

That should play great. Make sure you tune up those spinners!
