Quoted from Miguel351:

If the folks at ColorDMD ever do Mustang, they need to take a poll on what colors they want a lot of the cars to be. Or even offer a few different files that have different colored sets of cars.
That'd be pretty sweet!

Some titles are easy to figure out colors - like Bullwinkle. Not much room for artistic interpretation on that one
We try to use the machine art as the 'template' for coloring when we can. In the case of Mustang, the playfield has quite a few examples or cars/colors. So my guess is they'd color them like that unless there's one on the DMD that isn't on the playfield or cabinet.

Quoted from TheBEAVR:

It's being worked on. Quite a few different individuals do these on their own. It's rumored that the person who did the purple kraken in PoTC is doing Mustang, so lookout for the purple Mustangs.

The Kraken was updated in Aug of 2017 ! Looked on ipdb, can't tell for sure - what color is the 2011 GT ?

My Pro has started autoplunging right away.
As soon as I press Start.
Always on the first game when it’s booted up.
It doesnt auto plunge on ball 2.

After first game , once in a while I get to choose a mode when I start a game.

Any ideas?

Quoted from DaveH:

Well I always start those with a switch test....

Thanks for taking the time to give me some ideas.
We had more time this morning than yesterday. It’s always something easy/obvious after you find it.
A bolt fell off the shooter lane switch. The loose switch combined with the software trying to figure out was going on was the issue.
Weird that the software only got upset about it on Ball 1.

The looooong wait is finally over, now the hard part.....which version to buy. Any thoughts?

There’s no right answer - it’s a personal opinion thing.
I like LCD DotsXL and personally think the HiRes / Smoothing mode should be banned
That being said (tongue in cheek), several of my friends insist on keeping their machines in smoothing mode - no matter how often I sneak in and change it to DotsXL

Quoted from littlecammi:

I want to order NOW, but I'm not sure which way to go (LED or LCD).
(So glad he took the time to colorize the alternate images for my BOSS premium!)
Is the LED an easier install than the LCD ? I usually go LCD but I'm okay with LED if it fits better.
Does the LCD require any other parts (spacers, gaskets) to install in the Mustang panel?

First, thanks for the positive comment about coloring both versions

Re: installation
I only used an LCD panel when coloring the Pro and Boss. I had them in and out of each machine multiple times.
Installing in a Stern of this era is about as easy as it gets. When you order a display, you’ll get the correct spacers and a power cord that reaches the front of the machine where you tie into power.

You’ll want to order a clear plexi to replace the red one. ColorDMD is making a special plexi version that has cutouts for the bolts that hold the numbered plaque (BOSS and LE)

Also, for the BOSS and LE, the Mustang logo is held on with a ridiculously long bolt. It’s in the way for the LCD panel - but it’s easily trimmed with a Dremel. Only takes 30 seconds since you already have the speaker panel down and the old display out of the way.
Not sure if an LED would squeeze in with the bolt in place or not.

I’m anxious for people to download and try out the color version!

Quoted from Tuna_Delight:

Looking forward to seeing the Mustang Multiball start animation!

There weren't many dots for detail on the cars - so you kind of have to use your imagination, but much better 7 red cars

Not sure how often Mustang owners scan the Market Ads
I have this Hooked on Pinball Speedometer listed. Don’t think he made many and haven’t been available for a while.

Quoted from evileye:

This game hardly comes up for sale it seems, congrats! Been keeping an eye out for a Boss Premium model myself.

I agree on totally under-rated comments.
I did the ColorDMD programming/coloring for the Mustangs, so had to learn how to get to all the modes, etc...
It has some long and detailed animations! There are a lot of modes on this machine and other goals - You can really choose your own path on how to play.

I started with a Pro and then tracked down a BOSS so I could color the different cars.
IMO, Mustang is the exception to the rule when it comes to LE being more desirable than the Prem. BOSS versions are hard to get people to let loose of.
I love my B&W Munsters - so there’s another Prem better than LE example (to at least some people)

Shameless plug - everybody should upgrade their DMD to Color

Quoted from MJW:

Coin takers inventory … wow.
[quoted image]

I sent an email about the ad - they have a NIB BOSS
I have this one and wonder what I should list for.
I bought it to do the ColorDMD coloring/programming. When I got it - it had 6 plays.
So the additional 70 were with the glass off for testing.
