Looks good there!
Quoted from guitarded:Boss 351 are not often seen.
Only about 1800 boss 351’s made
Not too many 429’s or boss 302’s either

Well that's some good news. Some were thinking this would never happen. +1
Quoted from MustangPaul:The looooong wait is finally over, now the hard part.....which version to buy. Any thoughts?
I find the LED version too harsh and hard on the eyes, especially in a dark/dim environment. I also like the options the LCD version gives, even though I usually end up sticking with normal dots. LCD for me.

There’s no right answer - it’s a personal opinion thing.
I like LCD DotsXL and personally think the HiRes / Smoothing mode should be banned
That being said (tongue in cheek), several of my friends insist on keeping their machines in smoothing mode - no matter how often I sneak in and change it to DotsXL

I want to order NOW, but I'm not sure which way to go (LED or LCD).
(So glad he took the time to colorize the alternate images for my BOSS premium!)
Is the LED an easier install than the LCD ? I usually go LCD but I'm okay with LED if it fits better.
Does the LCD require any other parts (spacers, gaskets) to install in the Mustang panel?

I've only put the LED one into a Simpsons (TSPP) and Circus Voltaire (LED is the only option in this game). The LED is easier to mount (in my opinion) because of its size. It is basically like replacing a DMD.
The LCD one is a bit different to install, but not crazy. This is because of its size. It's big. Also in the metal backbox you need the spaces and stuff, so make sure you order them along with the clear shield. It will also be set back due to the backbox design, so you will want a gasket to block the light leak for people towards the side.
Now in my book, hands down the LCD. And that is because I dislike the LED version and wouldn't allow one in my house. The LED is a pinpoint of light, and each color is offset a tiny amount. Therefore it looks out of focus all the time to me. I find it too bright and pinpointy. I've adjusted like crazy, but there just isn't a setting where it looks good to my eyes. Honestly if the LED one was the only version, I'd stick with the DMD that comes with the game. HOWEVER the LCD is just perfect to me. I spend a bit of time each time I put one in to dial in the contrast and brightness for that specific game. It just looks great in a lot of games I own.

I prefer the LCD, but I am not averse to the LED. I already have ColorDMD LCDs in 7 games (CFTBL-TZ-IJ-ToM-MB-AFM-W?D) and I have LEDs in BBB and Baywatch (games that like CV don't allow for LCDs). It sounds like the LED will fit better (without needing gaskets or adapters) in the Mustang backbox.

First, thanks for the positive comment about coloring both versions
Re: installation
I only used an LCD panel when coloring the Pro and Boss. I had them in and out of each machine multiple times.
Installing in a Stern of this era is about as easy as it gets. When you order a display, you’ll get the correct spacers and a power cord that reaches the front of the machine where you tie into power.
You’ll want to order a clear plexi to replace the red one. ColorDMD is making a special plexi version that has cutouts for the bolts that hold the numbered plaque (BOSS and LE)
Also, for the BOSS and LE, the Mustang logo is held on with a ridiculously long bolt. It’s in the way for the LCD panel - but it’s easily trimmed with a Dremel. Only takes 30 seconds since you already have the speaker panel down and the old display out of the way.
Not sure if an LED would squeeze in with the bolt in place or not.
I’m anxious for people to download and try out the color version!

MANY thanks for doing this.

It is a personal preference issue.
But I agree with every word of this. LCD for me also.
Quoted from Tuna_Delight:Looking forward to seeing the Mustang Multiball start animation!
There weren't many dots for detail on the cars - so you kind of have to use your imagination, but much better 7 red cars

Sweet! Much better than just red!
Thanks again for getting this colorization done Jeff. It has been my understanding that Mustang's dots were a challenge to colorize and you've performed a noble service in making a great game even better now!
Quoted from thepinballworks:Mustang Code is up on ColorDMD.
See? Was that so hard? ORDERED!!!!! FINALLY!!!!! Thanks for letting me know the code was out.

There was an issue with vertical stripes on my screen after the install. Emailed Randy and he got my problem resolved quickly.

it came that way with the game it also had round white shifter ball which looks good but I wanted a throw back to original equipment!

We still have the shifter plates in stock and the Hurst logo shooter.
Would suggest getting them before Hotwheels is released.
