maybe i didn't saw it, who made the game?
I nearly didn't buy a STLE because I was going to wait for this title but I'm glad I bought star trek it's ok but not for me
Quoted from 85vett:What part of the playfied looks like anything Camilo Pardo would even want his name associated with? That is what I am saying. I was hoping for some artwork not some internet pictures cut and cropped and placed on a playfield.
I gotcha.
I was hoping for Angus' face, myself.
Quoted from Mar:Cab art is fantastic, the translite is pretty good but not amazing. So as a package from the outside I think it's very good. However, the playfield art just looks cheap and uninteresting, which is a shame.
My thoughts exactly. Beautiful cabinet, but PF artwork style would better fit the Disney's Cars movie !?
Interesting layout though. Like the skillshot. Really worth a try.
Well I am a Mustang nut. I have a 2003 Mach 1, 1968 428CJ Bullet clone which was my high school ride back in 1982, and a 1967 fastback. I like the pin, but wonder what the pricing will be with the current trend of price hikes on every new title.
Maybe this is a game not targeted at the 'usual' collector but a 'pin' like attempt to broaden mass market appeal with a deal with Ford? Who knows, Stern may have already made money on this deal even if it doesn't sell very well?
Special deal this month. Buy our top of the range Mustang and get a free pinball machine!
Quoted from Hammerhead1550:I like the pin, but wonder what the pricing will be with the current trend of price hikes on every new title.
Ford is retailing it for $4,995 - but remember, never pay retail.
182021-i.pngQuoted from jackal2001:And pay full msrp or play the whole "let me go talk to my manager" game.
.....if you buy the extended warranty and Scotch guard I can get you a deal.
Yep. Looks like a pinball machine. And, you could have named the designer even if it were a secret. JT's greatest hits, vol1.
I'm generally not a big fan of Stern playfield art (outside of Metallica), and this is no exception, other than it seems to be a little worse to my eyes.
Looks like the ramp shot area has 3 different outcomes, the orbit opens or closes to get to the pops or let the ball continue around. Will probably play pretty fast. It'll be interesting to see where the ball goes after it gets behind the drop target there in the center.
No way in hell I'll ever buy a new Stern, so it's not like this would ever be on my list - but I'll play it when I see it.
At least they aren't content with cookie cutter designs, and aren't afraid to do something different. Good on them.
Was really looking forward to seeing this one with the intent to buy, hope it plays better than it looks as the playfield art is rubbish.
Quoted from rs812:You know, stern has the ability to at least stem some of this negativity by organizing and implementing an actuwl marketing department to communicate. Why wouldn't they build up this pin and have a reveal to pinheads at a pinball show instead of to gearheads at a car show? Share some details before the reveal so negative speculation about features is prevented. I realize this is a car themed pin, but no one going to a carshow would be looking for or even expecting to see a pin. I thought details of this pin were to be revealed at CES, and sterns main market of pinheads were anxiously awaiting the same...but then.... Nothing. Sterns marketing, or lack thereof, is its own worst enemy.
The only reason I can think that Stern promotion is directed towards auto people and auto shows is Ford putting in a lot of upfront Money to get this developed.
How can everyone on here judge this game before they play it is beyond me; I mean come on did we all forget what the number one determining factor is GAMEPLAY and that is all. Yes a new LCD display would be nice, but it does not make or break the game.

I remember when Star Trek pictures were first posted....
The dislike was very, very strong.

Completely agree. And what's ironic is Stern and their pins are so easy develop a great marketing program. Stern has a captive customer base, customers willing to purchase, customers that are engaged in the product, a customer base that provides feedback and a customer base that communicates with each other and can create major buzz.
It's unfortunate they really have no marketing expertise.

Exactly and look what happened with that title; plus this layout looks very different and unique

and TRON
and AC/DC
and Metallica
All were good games.....once people played them.
Looks like LEDS in the game but none tri-color like star trek pro. I am really surprised this is still the sam system and the new system isnt ready yet. Well, looking forward to playing it. Its a different layout and maybe that center toy does something interesting.
Quoted from luvthatapex2:Its a different layout and maybe that center toy does something interesting.
Maybe it transforms, then you hit it and it says "WATCH IT BUD", then moves it arms up and down and the ball gets stuck behind it's arms, the you electrocute it, and it shakes and fires the ball back and puts a couple "laser light show" dots on the playfield.
It would be a Transformers meets X-men meets Avengers meets Metallica meets Star Trek surprise. Until the code doesn't get finished and then it's just a car that sits there and gives you 500,000 points
Quoted from hoby1:This this is the worst looking POS I have seen in a long time. Reminds me of a cracker jack toy. Generic, no taste, dull, garbage. I cant believe Ford would even indorse this fkn thing. Yes its different , but OMG looks like a preschoolers version of a pinball machine. I have owned mustangs ( the latest since 2000 w/ 7.5 k miles on it ) dating back to when I was in high school and would scoff an owner for having this POS set up in his man cave.
Ill keep my cash and for me this may be the turning point to start buying from a different manufacturer unless this is filler for the next title.
SO I JUST TALKED TO HOBBS
ME
Q) Do you think Mustang is the greatest or just a great pinball offering from Stern?
HOBBS
a) mustang is a POS
Me
So I will put you down as great then
There you have it HOBBS thinks Mustang is a great pinball offering
Quoted from canea:The call-out voice is... a good match for the horse?
It's deff not tanner Faust yet for the voice?
Quoted from musketd:Exactly and look what happened with that title; plus this layout looks very different and unique
That's true but at least Star Trek pro has one main toy that has several features. Star Trek pro has the rocking ship with drop target, magnet, and kicker. The problem with this game is that it doesn't have a single main toy on it and yet Stern is charging $5k for it...I'm sure the profit margin for Stern is much higher on this game compared to Metallica or Star Trek pro due to the lack of features on the game. If this game was $3k-$4k I don't think anyone would have a problem with what is in the game. Mustang pinball could have the best code in the world but at $5k it should come with at least one main interactive toy.
Quoted from PinB:There is a soft-plunge "Skill Shot" hole just before the ball reaches the top lane rollovers.
I like that. It's very similar to the skill shot on Tommy.

So you are getting a LE huh?
drop targets in the middle center of the playfield, I like this a lot and see this machine selling well. great theme neat layout this could be a 10,000 + seller

Amen Derek. I am guilty of bashing a game before playing it. I have learned not to discount a title over theme. I am not a Ford guy but it does look interesting. I talked negatively about Metallica and then Star Trek reveal. Boy was I wrong. I now own both and they are not going anywhere-both fantastic titles. I guess it all comes down to gameplay and flow for me now. Time will tell but the proof is in the pudding.
Quoted from lllvjr:It's deff not tanner Faust yet for the voice?
It sounds more like the fat dude from the American Top Gear show.
I love Mustangs and I love pins so I just figured I would love a Mustang pin....I dunno...my first reaction was blah but better to hold off forming an opinion until I actually play it. Love the cabinet art.
Quoted from master_of_chaos:Btw.. its spelled Motörhead.. not Motorhead
You know that 99% of the people that post on this board aren't going to be arsed to open up the Key Map to find an o with an umlaut on it....our keyboards don't come equipped with that button.
me think this won't be a good seller.
i'd be surprised if they sell 2500, if they do, it won't be from the collectors (most).
a few op's, ford car dealers and mustang fans
big ford logo everywhere, sounds and that horse...
Quoted from vid1900:For those not up on their Supercars, Camilo Pardo actually designed the greatest looking sports car ever, the Ford GT.
FordGT_1.jpg 32 KB
Roy Lunn designed that shape for Ford back when Deuce wanted to beat Ferrari at Lemans. Pardo simply made it slightly larger. Put a 1960's GT40 next to a GT and they are almost exactly the same except for overall size.
Quoted from gweempose:I like that. It's very similar to the skill shot on Tommy.
and CFTBL...
my only question at this time, is it really only 2 flippers?
In regards to the post......where are the toys? Really, is pinball now all about silly toys on the playfield now days.
Quoted from PapaJohn:In regards to the post......where are the toys? Really, is pinball now all about silly toys on the playfield now days.
Based on the top 10.. yes (well if toys means cool electro/mechanical interaction with ball); so sure that's a bad thing?
Quoted from PapaJohn:In regards to the post......where are the toys? Really, is pinball now all about silly toys on the playfield now days.
Car people like doing mods, they left it for them to do.

Toys are cool. Even ones that do something basic. Animated back glasses, disappearing pop bumpers, Rudy, spinning discs, etc, etc. I don't think they can be dismissed in a modern pinball machine.

You summarized Pinside in a nutshell.
it would be no small wonder that Gary Stern doesn't come on here. 55 sec vid and a few pics and the game is completely, completely trashed by many. wow. some of you need to get a hobby!!!!!! (ha)
My worry is that we were repeatedly told this would have a subway . Where is it? On the premium maybe?
Quoted from jlm33:but PF artwork style would better fit the Disney's Cars movie !?
retheme?
Since I spoke to Gary Stern last week: he mentioned they are developing a new system, which is actually tested on a few games, but they're going to take their time to test it properly. Last thing they need, besides incomplete software, is incomplete hardware
As far as LCD speculation goes: that's all it is: speculation. I will publish an interview with George Gomez soon in which he says the display is basically just for score keeping. He didn't seem in a rush to implement an LCD, so no need to keep your hopes up.
Quoted from JimB:Car people like doing mods, they left it for them to do.
An interesting move would have been to keep the game basic and offer mod kits (powder coating, cabinet lighting, chrome parts, different cabinets....)

They must be focusing on solid code and implementation out of the box.

Appreciate the info. Unfortunately, they don't get it. After playing WOZ a display is for more. It attracts people, animations excite those waiting to play, it adds bling. Color DMD sales, if only to score keep why so popular? It modernizes a game.
Playing ST LE with my family yesterday on 4 player, we all were waiting our turn looking at the display during modes to see what else it did. My mom came over and saw WOZ and said - wow it's like the slot machines at the casino - pinball is getting fancy.
Not meant to read attacking based on info you provided - thank you - but I just don't get the mindset of Gomez/Stern. Do they ever talk to customers? Or is their platform taking longer than expected and it's an excuse?
Looks good. I like how the top rollovers are angled to resemble the taillights on the 2015 Stang...Nice touch.

Thank you for posting this.
Wow, what a bummer about the LCD. Personally I think Stern just doesn't want to put the time, effort and money to switching to an LCD. I want to continue supporting Stern but I just can't anymore after recent price hikes, putting out more games with less (just look at Mustang) and the lack of regular code updates.
The LCD in WOZ changes pinball in my opinion, especially in a game with deep rules where it helps displaying the progress of multiple modes at once. The other night I got a shoot again animation on both ACDC and WOZ. With WOZ the shoot again HD LCD animation for shoot again had so much more impact then the standard DMD shoot again text. Same goes, and even more, with the extra ball animation where you get a full screen HD colored animation.
I think Stern could pull off an LCD game with complete code if they just focused on say two titles per year. They appear to be doing too many games per year and as a result some of them have larger budgets then others and not a single game gets regular code updates. I bet Stern would get the same sales figures if not more if they made two titles per year, added more toys / an LCD, and offered regular code updates with the games.
