Very cool! I really wanted Royal Peacock Green in my SS. It's such a great looking color, and makes the car look more stately than muscle. I was also pining over the Gray, especially since it was only available in 17 (much like your orange), making an already rare care even more rare. I called dealerships from the hospital the day after my twins were born trying to find an M6 in the area after I heard the 20% deal was available. Now it's in my garage, with 3 car seats in the back!
Quoted from preore:Definitely NOT a muscle car, but this thread inspired me to get my car out of the garage. 1983 Toyota Supra with 42k original miles. New battery today, replaced the side marker lights that were cracked and had ordered a while back, and fresh wash. Thx for the inspiration. I love all cars and hope to get an old American convertible someday.

Fantastic car. Seriously. You guys are going to make me wash my Challenger RT to take some pics.
Back to the Supra—very few things bring me back to the 80s like the lettering on the back of them. Some great 80s cars are just starting to get their true due
Quoted from calprog:[quoted image][quoted image]
Beautiful car, how about some more info on it?
Quoted from o-din:he goes down in history as the first driver to die during the Indy 500 race.
This is not correct. I was told when I was young it was at the first 500 mile race at Indy. A piece of literature seemed to support that. New literature is now out there.
The real hero was Wilfred Bourque. Not even sure if his race was called the 500.

I ordered it on the last day of ordering (2/14/2017). Actually, my dealer didn't even have allocation and they told me it would never go through but they ordered to get me to stop pestering them. The order was pushed through and accepted within a day! I was trying to get the last one built, but came up a little short. Mine is 37 from the end. I think only one manual was built after mine though! I went back and forth between slipstream blue and orange blast and when I ordered orange just popped out! The car was held up at port in Benicia and later in Kansas. Eventually, it made it's way to Ohio just in time for the 20% off in November. It arrived 11/9 and I took delivery 11/11 completely wrapped and had a high end detailer remove everything. I don't think there's a bad color on them, but glad I went with the orange!

Here are two of mine a 67 camaro and a 82 collectors edition corvette both with LS1s in them. You get the best puppy in the world as an extra.

I didn't realize this was a dick-measuring contest. The fact that you had some fast cars doesn't make you any less wrong.
since you dont think i know shit about cars
You're the one who kept insisting it was a 429 after *several* people said otherwise and provided photo proof. You just couldn't be corrected. So you can imagine why I jumped to that conclusion.
Also you tend to be a blowhard in general about most things. Just a natural assumption this was yet another topic you knew nothing about but insisted you did. Sorry about that!

Its not a dick measuring contest but since you had to shoot your big mouth off fot no reason i figured that i would prove to you that i know alot more about cars than you do so if you ever want to race this blowhard just let me know ok and i will show you how much that you really know about cars.
I don't know much about Mustangs or any other Fords for that matter and i will admit that. ...and i dont even care because i prefer GM cars. I just thought for whatever reason that the car i was talking about had a 429 in it. I was not insisting that it did or trying to prove anyone wrong about it, especially the guys on here that know Mustangs like the back of their hands. I just dont know why you feel compelled to be such a smart ass all of the time? It makes you look like a jerk, i hope you realize that.
Quoted from pinbum:Who cares 429 or 428 they were both boat anchors.
Boat anchors yes but you know the old saying Pinbum and its true......There's no substitute for cubic inches!
Quoted from pinbum:Bigger cubes is great but extra weight sucks, i always liked a high revving 358 small block.
Yes they are heavy but i love the torque that they put out. Its a totally different ride down the track between big block and small block. Both are awesome though.
Quoted from dmacy:Any of you guys been to SEMA? Headed there this year as a bucket list.
Never been there but a friend of mine has a business called Innovative Tools and Technology. He sells auto body shop equipment that he and only he designs. I think he's up to 3 booth spaces now. His name is Brian, I used to do all his promo videos, if you see him say Hi for me. Also if the Bonneville streamliner Turbinator is there say Hi to the owner Rick Vesco, I was the team videographer when they set the FIA world record back in 2001. Say Hi to Rick for me.
While my tastes in cars run a little more modern/exotic now I do love all cars. I have had a variety of cars from a BMW 850CSI, supercharged C5 corvette, 03 Viper convertible, a twin turbo NSX and then into my current line up. Never thought I would be a multi fun car but honestly except for driving my dogs around I always jump in one of them and log miles. No garage queens here. Every car I have owned in the last 10 years has been to an acceleration event and gone to top speed multiple times. Even had a pretty rough accident once. Can dig up pics if you guys are interested.
Quoted from rogerroger:Dang! What do you do for a living?
I started a business 16 years ago with my wife and worked literally 7 days a week until I sold it in July. It was intense while it lasted but it gave us the chance to retire young and healthy.
Quoted from jhanley:You win.
Thanks...If it was a compliment. Not trying to win. Important thing is my wife and I are happy and healthy everyday. The toys are nice don’t get me wrong but the people you surround yourself with are more important. Plus I don’t have kids just dogs. I joke with some of my friends with kids that look at what you put into raising your kids and that is my garage.
Quoted from dmacy:Any of you guys been to SEMA? Headed there this year as a bucket list.
You will love it. Car guy nirvana. There are so many cars and exhibits inside and outside the convention center your head will spin.

Oh it was a compliment. The cars you have are in a whole different league. The GT40 is awesome.I could only dream of driving a 427 powered GT40 from way back.

I would think the 17 is the better car.
Quoted from MustangPaul:I would think the 17 is the better car.
'06 w/300hp with Tune > '17 w/435hp w/o tune.
The '06 would for sure beat my '17 in a 0-60. 1/4 mile maybe not. But step on the gas at any speed in the '06 and it was gone. Step on the gas in the '17 at any speed, it will be gone once it realizes what you want it to do.
Stock shifting is slow and sluggish. Just haven't spent the money yet to do a CAI, exhaust, and tune like I did on the '06. Once I do that, I'm sure I'll be happier with it.

Apparently people compete for the world record of fastest stock unmodified old beetles. One used to come to a 1.5 mile event I do regularly and set the record one year crossing the finish line at the blazing speed of .........71MPH!!

Thinking of getting a new GT350 any thoughts? Getting tired of my corvette.
Quoted from fiberdude120:Thinking of getting a new GT350 any thoughts? Getting tired of my corvette.
It's a nice car. Never driven one personally. A lot of nice performance upgrades from my '17 GT.
I casually looked at them before I got mine, but wasn't serious since it was out of my price range. But the one thing I noticed, that you may want to check into, is that the radio seems secondary. The GT350 is more race-inspired. So some options don't even have a radio.
Also, I've heard that the Recaro seats aren't made for comfort. They're made to hold you in place in a turn.
So if you're looking for a weekend track car, the base GT350 will be a good option. But if you want it as a daily-ish driver, you'll probably need to spend a few thousand extra to get those comforts back.
Or if you can hold out, the GT500 will be a beast.
My friend had a GT350 and he loved it. Until about 10,000 miles when it developed an engine knock noise under hard acceleration. It got progressively worse as he tracks and does acceleration events like me. Dealer could hear it but not stop it. If you are going to drive it like a normal car it might not show up but if you drive aggressive I wouldn’t buy one personally. Look on mustang forums. It is a well known problem that all the enthusiasts websites know about.

Oh now your talkin.
From a car show I was in today. Some really nice classic muscle there and didn’t get to take pics of a 1/5 of them.

I’ve got a ‘16 GT350 with the track package option. One of the best drivers cars out there, highly recommended! Here it is with my BOSS 302 at a car show last weekend.
