Cool thread!! I have been collecting cars for about 15 years. Currently working on the 70 Challenger rt. It has a 440 with a 4 speed. I also just picked up a 99 Formula ws6. They only made a 175. Super cool car!! Cars and Pins are the way to go for sure!!!

    '86 SVO.
I had one of those a kajillion years ago. Surely not a muscle car but was the best handling car I ever owned.
Have an AWD TLX now with a 9-spd German made ZF transmission. Would be a great car if that ZF transmission didn't suck so badly.

Right. That's not the car then. Thanks!

Still was about as much muscle as we had in the mid 80's. Very cool and not a common one to see around these days. I had a friend with a black 86 SVO. That thing was fun!

    Quoted from Wickerman2:

This is just about identical to the bad boy that I drove in my youth...5 bucks in gas lasted all week, loved it.
    [quoted image]

Omg mine was two-tone blue, with factory luggage rack on the roof! 4-speed manual. It was my first car...worked all summer for the money and I paid $400 for it. It was my pride and joy. I kept it washed and waxed, then put more money into the stereo system than I paid for the car ($600 in amp, subwoofer, etc). I built the sub box so that it fit the entire cargo area and in such a way that it would have been a 2-man job to steal it (somebody tried once and failed). Loved that car. Then one day the bolt that holds the main pulley sheared off. My dad and I tried everything to extract it (he was an aircraft A&P mechanic so he had plenty of tools at his disposal) but to no avail. It was going to cost more than the car was worth to have a shop extract it, so we sent her to the great highway in the sky. By that point in time, I’d saved up enough cash for a good down payment on a brand new ‘92 Isuzu pickup truck...base model...standard cab, crank windows, no A/C, and 5-speed. MAJOR upgrade. Ha!

Stick with it! Looking good. My father in law has a ‘68, restored, bright yellow with a low profile hood scoop and black Eliminator stripes. The guy he bought it from before he restored it, had stuffed a 429 in it. Wayyy too much motor for that car, but man it sure is fun to drive with it in there. I’m not a fan of yellow color on anything but exotic cars, but the Cougar looks pretty darn good in that color. I’ll have to see if he can send me a pic, but I think that all of he photos of it are still on 35mm glossys!

Yeah I guess so. The only pic of my old car I have handy is one where my 6 year old grandson tried to take it for a spin. We always told him it would be his car one day. He jumped the gun I guess. Fortunately he got hung up on the hill instead of rolling down the drive.

Oh this thread could get ugly now. Lol. Phew that’s too close for comfort.

When I was a kid my neighbors were having a party. The driveway was right off a busy road in a 40mph section. My neighbors uncle had a bmw convertible in the driveway. When the adults weren’t paying attention some of the kids started playing in the bmw. Kid in drivers seat hit ebrake or clutch and she rolled backwards right into a busy road and hit curb. Luckily there just wasn’t much traffic that very moment.

I guess you and I should probably stay away from the race track.

This one scared the bejeesus out of us and him. No one got hurt and no damage. So he got a good lesson and we can only look back and laugh.

Yep, 68 Galaxie. Convertible 390. We are third owner and it has about 53k on it now. All original but the rims and dual exhaust. Not really that fast and no creampuff but a fun car to bring out once in awhile.

Man you guys were so lucky....holy crap! Can you imagine if he would have stomped on the gas with that big ass 390 in there? Good God that could have seriously be bad.

He never fired it up. Just turned the key enough to get it out of gear and it started rolling backwards. We were standing in the yard when I saw him rolling by. Our road isn't heavily traveled. So random car could have been a concern. Worst case is if he would have rolled straight out he could have hit the pole across the street.

    Quoted from Deaconblooze:

The kits were designed to accept parts from old Mustangs. Non donor just means that all parts were new and not "donor" parts from a Mustang.

I really liked the 69 Vette. It looked bad ass.

The 2014 Vette is an amazing car.

Favourite would have to be the Shelby. 525 horse and weighed 2200lbs. Very fast car.

I would love to get new ZO6 at some point. I think that would be a keeper for me.

The Shelby and 65 Stang I had I sold to buy pins.

I did stomp on the gas in my Galaxie with the 390 in it, with my girlfriends brother and two of his friends in it, got sideways and drove the car off a cliff. Only thing that saved us was a tree 30 feet down or it was another 150 or more to the bottom. Lesson learned and that started my career as a mechanic tearing the remains of that car apart.

Great uncle Louis and his mechanic did not fare so well.

Yes, he got a broken ankle I think. He suffered a traumatic brain injury from the G force. He was in a coma for quite awhile and then a long road to recovery. He was my childhood hero and I got to drive him around for errands and such some time after. It was fun, he was a character.

Technically not a muscle car, but from that era, 1970 454. I bought this 34 years ago, drove it for a couple of years and then life happened and it sat in storage for 20+ years until my son started futzing with it. So, we did an off frame restoration and two years later it looks like it just left the dealership.

We got lucky alright. Stupid 19 year old kid racing around the clifftop hit some gravel on a turn. Squeezed the car between a telephone pole and a tree and then went down.

Ironic as the song "Highway Star" was cranking on my tape deck. I remember after we hit the tree, the tape deck petered out and slowed down to an

Yeah, he goes down in history as the first driver to die during the Indy 500 race. I've got a signed picture of him standing next to his Roamer my dad left me.

Thank goodness they have added many safety features since then.

Definitely NOT a muscle car, but this thread inspired me to get my car out of the garage. 1983 Toyota Supra with 42k original miles. New battery today, replaced the side marker lights that were cracked and had ordered a while back, and fresh wash. Thx for the inspiration. I love all cars and hope to get an old American convertible someday.
