I have no speedometer in the Mustang so I installed a GPS speedo, made a bracket and mounted it in a good place to see it. A nice bright green.

Thought I'd follow the "lockdown driveway burnouts" fad amongst the car guys round here, chucked some old wheels on and ripped them up
Sorry, it's on Facebook, but turn the volume up, she's a big block running open headers
My drive is on a funny angle, so it always kicks the car sideways when I start a bit heavy

Its a diff animal, just like the 2020 is gonna be. I have a 2013 grand sport and I am thinking about going for a 2020 in a while when the prices are real again.

    #513 3 years ago

Idk, prices are nuts, dealer in oregon told me that chevy is not going to honor initial price on the 2021. And, not a big fan of the c8 looks, too angular. Just me tho,,,

    #514 3 years ago

Speaking of Corvettes, I saw someone driving the new one 3 weeks ago. I didn't realize they were being sold yet. Was walking around downtown, and he pulled up to the stoplight. I couldn't get my camera out fast enough before he took off again.

Didn't realize it was the new Vette until I saw the badging on it.

    #515 3 years ago

Ya , a few are out, but almost 40% over invoice from what I've seen. One in wenatchee for 88k

    A very basic 1lt car. 59k msrp

    #517 3 years ago
    Quoted from Hayfarmer:

    A very basic 1lt car. 59k msrp

I thought GM was going to hammer down on dealers doing "market adjustments" on the new 'Vettes?

I'm sure the current covid situation might have an effect on this, but considering it's an enthusiast car, maybe not...

I know some shady dealers got around factory backed no-no's on doing this in the past (ie Ford Raptors, etc.) by including 30k worth of "dealer add-ons" i.e. 30k floormats...

    #518 3 years ago

The big regional dealers out this way (kerbeck, macmulkin) have sold all of theirs for msrp. I think there have only been about 3000 built so far.

    #519 3 years ago

I saw one some where that was almost $60k dealer mark up.

    #520 3 years ago

A retired co-worker and friend of mine got his delivered just as the COV-19 shit was hitting the fan. He always orders each new revision.

Thats what I keep saying about the Camaro. If they would do what they've done to the Challenger the last 10 years and kept the styling similar to that original muscle car look, then I'd expect Chevy wouldn't be thinking about canceling it.

While I have a 2017 Mustang, I'm kinda disappointed that they keep refreshing the look every few years. I again, love the Challenger and how it's evolved, but kept the same stylings and is selling better now than when it started.

Agreed. Always loved that era of TA's. Smokey and the Bandit helped sales just a bit back in the day also. I was 10 I believe when the movie came out, and i was hooked on that car from the get go. Likely never sell mine.

Question for you car people. I have a 67 Camaro with a rebuilt ls engine and 4l60 in it. I had it built for my son and he doesn’t want it. My real dream car is a black or red 78 trans am or z28. Does anyone think I would be able to trade the 67 for the rubber bumper car?

    #531 3 years ago

Wow haven’t checked my thread in awhile. Awesome cars man. One thumbs down on my first post from Shacklers revenge. Jealousy hurts some.

    #532 3 years ago

ZR, I imagine that trade could be pulled off with someone with connections. What I can't imagine is that your son is not interested in the '67.

So your dream car is my car? Cool. I wouldn't trade it for a '67 Camaro, but i know plenty of people would. Value is much higher pending condition. I like the 67's but i'd rather have a '69 or a early split bumper Camaro.

My Camaro is a survivor. It has had some body restoration done but not much. It was originally a 6 cylinder one wheel peel car that has had the interior done in vinyl and crushed velvet. I can see it in Tijuana being upholstered. When I bought it my son wanted nothing but an old car to drive. The wife wouldn’t listen when o told her they weren’t reliable to drive so I bought the car with the intention of putting a modern engine in it. The process took longer than planned so I gave home a truck. He likes the truck. He has no interest in a fast canned out loud Camaro that you really can’t insure for him till he is 25. He drives like my aunt fanny anyway. I like the car but I really want the rubber bumper Z28 or Trans Am.

Can't remember if I've posted this here or not, but since May is coming up, it reminded me that a few years ago at the Indy Mecum car auction, I came across a car I wasn't expecting to see. A car that was born in my hometown of LaHarpe, IL. Population <1400.

For the last 20 or so years our town had been hosting the Fred Gibb Car Classic, where the then owner of the original #1 ZL1 Camaro would always bring it to show. Then a couple years went by without the car, and then it pops up here at the auction.

I was walking around and it was in their "special" car section and was taken back. I went to Facebook to let all my hometown friends know it was for sale, and everyone was heartbroken because we never knew if we'd see the car again. So I went back to the auction with my video camera to get any last shots I could.

Rumor was, Reggie Jackson purchased it on behalf of a friend. I never heard for certain if it was true or not, and then 2 years ago, at the same auction, I got to ask him myself.

We had a 15 minute + conversation about the ZL1 and the history of my tiny hometown. He knew all about it in regards to the cars connection to the town. It was awesome! My dad, who grew up watching Reggie was floored, but he couldn't hear what we were talking about because the PA system was too loud. Afterwards he asked me what Reggie and I were talking about for so long, and told him that he knows all about our hometown. Dad's response, "you're shittin' me?"

So Mr. October said that he wasn't the one who purchased it but knows who did, and see's it every year at some show up somewhere around where he lives I believe.

I have some fun cars to share perfect for this thread, most past but some present.

First up 1970 Chevelle SS454, real deal 43k mile survivor car with build sheet, original paint and interior, original LS5 big block, Buckets and console, air conditioning, Tach and gauges, M22 4 speed, cowl hood, red/red, owned from 1987-1997. Visited the guy who bought it a few years ago, still looks the same with only a couple thousand miles put on since his purchase!

Second is a 1966 Chevelle SS396 convertible, also a genuine SS car, buckets and console, wood wheel with tilt column, power top, owned 1988-1997

Sold those 2 in 1997, before the car market went insane to help fund buying my house. Though it astonishes me to see these car values today, the house did well too so that eases the pain.

Third is a 1973 Nova SS350, buckets and console, tach and gauges. Owned 1988-1991

Also gone but not forgotten and not pictured is a 1965 Malibu SS327 convertible, 1966 Nova hardtop, 1970 Malibu hardtop and a 1965 Nova wagon. My dad still has my 1967 El Camino 396, 4 speed, which now has a 502.

Currently have a 2016 Dodge Challenger Hellcat, in colors paying tribute to my long lost ‘70. Also have a 2003 Silverado SS AWD, modified 6.0 with supercharger, cam and more goodies. That’s my pin hauler.

i haven't posted for some time as i was trying to thin my collection out - but this virus has given me time to add to it - i will have to sell a few - here are some and i will post others when i get them out of the garage - now we have the lil red express and the midnite express. i got the bug for my daughter - although i am not sure she will like driving it as it's a semi automatic. she loves stick so i might sell it and get a different one.
