I played the pro was fairly underwhelming. I know the rules are not doing it any favors. I think the layout is ok, but I own IM, Met pro which are in the same ballpark.

I’m totally surprised Borg has not done another quasi Tron layout, he did XM but that’s also so long ago.

Not saying that games with similar layouts can not be fun as Met pro and IM or ST and SM. But sometimes you can go to the well once too often.

I think people were buying it because they like the retro nostalgia vibe like BM66 but myself I’ve not really bought anything on theme alone.

I’m not saying basic rules are bad. I mean you can’t get much more basic than TNA which I think is great. But I know a lot of people were turned off and sold TNA quick as anything because the rules were just 1-2-3 repeat.

I think you can have a basic rule but that some people would rather have more depth. Not saying everything should be like Woz or LotR but somewhere more than just collecting all the main shots/characters.

I may not be understanding the rules of Munsters fully but when I played it, it seemed kind of boring.

Quoted from iloveplywood:

I think that's a big part of this -- it was a game selling theme, and it did sell a lot. I think anytime you sell a lot of games initially based on theme there's going to be more people buying the game and then selling it quickly once they play it. Doesn't mean the game is any worse than any other though, necessarily.

Ghostbusters was like this, people would buy GB sight unseen. I think GB is a great game but probably was sold initially on theme as much as anything.

TWD is now the most overrated pin on the Top 100; that game's geometry sucks!!

I disagree.

I think it's too early to say if it's good or bad.

Look at SM, AcDc, Tron, Metallica, ST.these games have been there done that. While pins like Avengers, Transformers, Avatar, XM the same timeframe and we see which are the hits and which are the misses.

Munsters has been out for a minute, I don't think it's very good but heck I didn't think TWD was that great either but now I love it.

I can not say for certain that Munsters is destined to be middle type pin (B/C grade) but there is only so much room at the A/A+ grade pins (not every pin can be above average) and we all know that 10-12 B/W will never move out of the top 15 (MB, MM, TAF, TZ, AFM, IJ, etc.) same with Stern probably there is a big 5 already (LotR, Metallica etc.) so there will be a bit of judgment what will constitute A/A+ game. If Munsters settles down by RBION, Avatar, whatever in the middle of the pack that doesn't mean it's a bad pin. I think that it will be somewhat medium not the best not the worst.

Quoted from wesman:

Say what you will about playfield shots, but this game disappointed me most in feeling like the entire theme of the Munsters didn't really exist within the pin. So many "jackpot" callouts, give me no vibes towards the source material. Too many call-out actors that don't really sound source, as in "Marilyn" or whomever that's supposed to sound like, and modes that have again, no attachment to the series.
Compare this pin to how integrated gameplay and theme exist in TZ, GB, TAF, TH, GOT, TWD or several others, and this game just feels like a random template popped onto artwork. Which, as good as that artwork is, it's not very playful. Photo realistic renderings don't reach the tone of the theme in the manner that the Elvira games do.
More so even the than actual shots, I was most disappointed about how unMunsters this game feels beneath the visuals and random repeating clips.

This is a great point. Tron is so great, sure the dots suck screen-rip graphics but they are great for the mood of what’s happening during the game and the quotes are very nicely done and the sound effects and music. I don’t feel like I’m playing a generic pin with a Tron overlay. I feel like the pin is an extension of the movie.
