There are three versions of The Munsters. Aside from each having distinct cabinet art, the Premium and Limited Edition versions contain some extra goodies under the glass; most significantly there's a sunken, mini-playfield under the center of the main playfield. It has miniature flippers, it's own tiny ramp and even a wireform with an upkicker. Stern's press release also points out the sunken playfield has its own multiball mode. The Pro mode does not have a sunken mini-playfield, but all three versions share the following features:
A left ramp that lifts up to reveal a Spot toy you can bash with the ball (Spot is the Munster family's pet dragon).
A right ramp that stern describes as a "turn-around, flip-up ramp".
A large Herman Munster with a magnet to catch and toss the ball around.
A "Zap" button.
A scoop with a built in metal protector (pinball owners will be relieved to hear this, these traditionally naked wood scoops are the main point of wear on many playfields).
Each version has unique cabinet art, but the Premium version has a full black-and-white art package.
The now-standard monitor in the backbox with custom graphics and scenes from The Munsters sitcom.
Watch the teaser for The Munsters Pinball below.

Limited edition production of 500 units.

God that looks like total shit.

Tee hee...just kidding

#3 5 years ago

That looks kinda like acdc... which is fine by me i guess. as long as its fun.

#4 5 years ago

Thanks for posting. Just ordered the LE.

#5 5 years ago

As somebody with absolutely zero interest in Munsters as a theme, I'm kind of excited to play this machine. A bash toy on a ramp makes me a little nervous though.

Kinda?

The bash toy is under the ramp, which lifts up, like on Pinbot or Walking Dead Premium/LE.

Not digging the black and white Premium artwork at all. I like the color of the Pro and under playfield of the Prem/LE.

#9 5 years ago

Hope it has that campy fun feel that BM66 has... Enjoyed this show but I am a pass on this for sure, have money burning a hole in my pocket but going to go with something that feels a little more fresh, look forward to playing non the less.

Oh sorry it's listed as LE

I concur. At first glance, I thought the same thing and that Ritchie designed this. Sad to see that it was Borg. Blah.

#12 5 years ago

I also had no interest in this theme or game....until I saw it. Looks like a fun game!

#13 5 years ago

Looks like they finally did something out of the box with the lower pf. May have some potential here....

I'll check back when the code is decent in a year or so.

#14 5 years ago

wait a second, are you saying stern used another playfield and has the same shots as other games?

#15 5 years ago

Need to see more, but nothing looks particularly ground breaking. It’s like an amalgamation of past stern games, family guy, iron man, acdc, etc, etc, seems to shoot like any other stern too. art package looks good, but that’s not enough. Pricing is going to be tough on this one. If I bought one, it would likely be a premium, but for the pro at least where the lower playfield would be is better than what they did with acdc and the angus face.

#16 5 years ago

Cool mini playfield layout with ramp shot.

Do those ever have issues with not falling completely flat when they drop back down?

#18 5 years ago

The PRO without the lower PF looks bare bones in the middle.....all PF.

#19 5 years ago

Interesting to see what the shot on the left does, looks like a ramp where the game shoots out the ball.

#20 5 years ago

I thought I'd like the Black and White on this game but not really diggin' it so much. I think the colored inserts should all be clear and have color changing or color leds underneath would work better.

#21 5 years ago

Nice Danesi timer on the lower PF.

#22 5 years ago

Looks good. I'm ready for the next hype train to begin though.

I think it's just a lane with a kicker like MM catapult, except without the extra wireform feeding the ramp. So more like the Playboy grotto

Come on Stern. Here we go again with crap art. I want the Premium game / Pro art. The B/W art is not a good look IMO.

#25 5 years ago

Looks great. Premium looks pretty sick yo. I really like the ram......so what's the next title gonna be?

This looks really Awesome! I might have to have me one of these! Cant wait to play it!

#28 5 years ago

I mean to be fair, just how much can you change pf layouts and still make them flow and playable. You only have so much room to work with.

#29 5 years ago

Hmm.

Looks like it shoots well. Certainly way better than Deadpool, GotG, SW, Batman. But on the other hand it looks like yet another minor rejig or variation on their existing multitude of fan layouts.

Prefer the look of Pro pf. Art looks really crammed in (due to big pf window) on the Premium and LE. Not Franchi's greatest work, I don't think. Cabs and translites / backglasses look better, particularly on the black and white premium. I don't think the pf art has been adapted well at all to the lack of colour.

Lower pf looks fun, if very easy. More Stewie Pinball than AC/DC - which I guess is a good thing. Will get old quickly is my guess.

Sound is alright. Think they need to do some work on levels and ducking. Some sound effects drown everything else out and are much louder than others. Would be nice if they had more voice clips than constant generic bangs, crashes and clangs. Appears quite a bit has either been reused from Batman '66, or was collected from the cutting room floor; extremely similar.

TV show footage is fine on the LCD.

Original animations and renders mostly look like absolute arse imo.

Nothing terribly interesting rules wise, by the look of it, but it seems relatively finished.

Probably does well on location, but people sell quickly from home collections.

Different strokes I guess, I think the Premium looks fantastic. I don't think I can convince the lady friend to buy another NIB though.

2 ramps, 2 orbits, a scoop and middle lane to shoot for, kinda been there a few times.

Iron Maiden flows like a dream.

Not every game has to be flow heavy and fan shaped

to each his own...I'm diggin' the Premium!

I thought the exact same thing

#35 5 years ago

This looks like a designer reached into a box of past designs and threw things on there. It might be fun, but nothing about it really screams innovation to me. Nothing about it rustles my jimmies so will pass for a few years while people who buy it inevitable wait to see if the code gets finished.

#36 5 years ago

So the lower playfield has its own flippers interesting, that adds an interesting dimension in multi ball

THIS!!!! That's what made IMDN so refreshing, Munsters is AC/DC meets GOTG meets Metallica meets MM....looks like same old, same old.....

#38 5 years ago

The premium and LE looks pretty cool at first glance, mini playfield looks awesome as well. Not sure if I dig the black and white look of the premium, LE package looks better in my opinion.

The pro version looks very bare for close to $6k...

Worked in the 80s.

The black and white looks like crap.

Disagree. I think the B&W looks AMAZING...way more clean and classy & the splashes of color come from the LED lighting. Wow! If I get one of these, the Premium is the one on my radar.

#41 5 years ago

Premium is pretty swank!

#42 5 years ago

Love the Spot bash toy under the "stairs"

#43 5 years ago

Wow game looks really cool i love the black and white art but i am not really into the mini playfied will have to play both versions to make a decision.

#46 5 years ago

Looks like a fun shooting game. Not sure if I like the Premium black and white art or not... Definitely don't like the majority of the sound effects. I think they'd drive me nuts before long! No interest in the theme, but looking forward to trying it out at some point.

#47 5 years ago

Premium and especially le look great. Watching the stream for several minutes, and the music was already wearing on me. Can't wait to play it. Good job Borg.

#48 5 years ago

Price?

#49 5 years ago

I think the premium looks pretty damn sweet. Like to see it in person.

Quoted from epthegeek:

yeah, bicycle girl is cool

Bicycle was a full lifting ramp wasn;t it? This is a little bit diff'rent.
