Quoted from drsfmd:

People here have criticized Lonnie for code, but the most recent TWD update came out more than 3 years after the machine was released...

1. What does that have to do with Lonnie?
2. The code that "made it great/saved it" I believe came out 1 year after release...which seems standard for him.

Maybe they'll reuse Gene's head as Herman's but the balls shoot out his ears for MB

#168 5 years ago

It will have all the toys currently available online

Quoted from Rarehero:

...and I find it so strange that this gets brought up every time a game with iconic music comes out...

Yeah it's a weird thing. I think because it is iconic and people already know it so well, they think it will get old versus something they've never heard before?
Munsters is a little kookier I guess, but GB & GOT never bothered me.

Pro looks fine but no idea how it works out to "the most loaded pro ."

#5496 5 years ago

And don't get me started on the coil count!!!!

Apparently now pro value is only set on the differences betwixt pro and Prem+?
people get weirder every release.

#5506 5 years ago
Quoted from Eskaybee:

it’s 2019; value is measured in fun, not # of mechs

Hahaha! Thanks for the laughs.

#5514 5 years ago

Meh on colored GI.

#5523 5 years ago
Quoted from cletus:

In the Dead-Flip Twitch stream for the premium, Borg specifically says that it was his decision to make those targets large "mono-targets" so that more inexperienced players could enjoy getting those modes more easily.

I don't think a mono target is any easier to hit than 2-3 targets put together. But sorry I didn't hear, is there only 1 switch on each mono target?
I hope for redundancy sake that isn;t true

#5525 5 years ago

Nice, thanks for clearing that up.

#5872 5 years ago
Quoted from pinballaddicted:

AV
... Turns out they are all really good games.

Hmm... Does AV stand for something other than avengers?

11
#5883 5 years ago
Quoted from Shapeshifter:

Looking at the targets, ramps, and theme, maybe the idea was to target a slightly different audience? More of a beginners pin?
Makes sense?

Absolutely. Too many people here feel that every game released needs to be specifically tailored to them or it's a failure. You got bascially EMs, 80s Sterns, ultra modern games being made right now so why not throw in a sys11 type ruleset game? (just guessing I haven't played it yet)

#5891 5 years ago
Quoted from bigd1979:

Its definitely more involved than system 11 pins are. Its more like monster bash but with more to the jackpots/multipliers and risk vs reward aspect.

Ah yeah good call. 90s DMD era rule sets.

#5932 5 years ago
Quoted from Captainhook:

Just trying to figure out how many people throw their money away without playing first, I know I wouldn't buy a new car without driving it. Up or down does it really matter?

Don't tell me what to my monies.
Carguments... Really?

#5943 5 years ago
Quoted from Bublehead:

The only way to know FOR SURE a machine is for you is by playing the machine...

And not even then. Cause you may get bored of any game at anytime .

#6149 5 years ago
Quoted from PinMonk:

Well, it's not zero, but WWE LE owners took a bath and are still sinking. XMEN LE owners lost a few thousand, too. Ask them if they think the value discussion is pointless.

Add in Avengers too

#6162 5 years ago
Quoted from PinMonk:

Love how they call the Lily monobar a "Lily Bank." You can't have ONE giant, ugly, cost-saving rectangle be a "bank"....

Never played pool?

#6164 5 years ago
Quoted from PinMonk:

Eh, that's more of a stretch than calling a single target a bank.

I think it's around the same length as a regulation 9' pool table Bank

How much does it actually save them if it still has multiple switches though?

15
#6288 5 years ago

Is the same shit every time again and again over and fucking over endlesssssssssssssssly.

10
#6336 5 years ago

Carguments are stupid and you sound stupid using them, that's why we outlawed them, please stop.

Moving on... If you don't like it, don't buy it. I'm not a Stern slurper, but give me a break with the devine right people think they deserve in a new machine. If the the game is too easy for you, wait for the next one. You dont have to hang around and pine for the game to be designed to your preferences... If you like it you play it, if not no one really gives a shit. Not every game needs to be the same. Not every game has to be coded in a way to meet your idea of how much money you spend on them.
You talk aboot "today's players" as if they are super advanced acrossT the board. Do you listen to people on this site? Do you hear people talking aboot how much they suck and how they never even look at the dmd/LCD when playing the game (wtf).
This is too simple, star wars and got are too confusing... Arrrggghh. Have you heard these mutts talk about how using a lock down button is too much work?
Fuck you don't hear this everyday, but you may be giving Pinsiders too much credit.

#6366 5 years ago
Quoted from Squizz:

I have already payed 50% deposit on the LE. Was a dream theme for me, I'm guessing that is why it upsets me more to see where the code went.
(which was after deposit)

How many lives do "dream themes" have to ruin before everyone stops putting so much stock in them?

#6389 5 years ago
Quoted from iceman44:

Possibly the worst art in relation to the theme of any pinball machine I can think of

So we're not counting Alien anymore?

#6391 5 years ago
Quoted from Bublehead:

I thought Thunderturds are Blow! Had the worst recent art package?

For me the qulaifier was "in relation to the machine." Thunderbirds looks fucking weird, but the Thunderbirds themselves look weird...an no one cares aboot the Thunderbirds so...If a tree falls....
Like Alien is a theme many of us love and, well you've seen it.

I may accept RZ in the mix.

#6397 5 years ago
Quoted from wesman:

How do you do that, "buying", via the Lamp shot?

It's an option from the scoop...I think you can turn it off in the menu though

#6459 5 years ago
Quoted from JMCFAN:

As a soon to be new owner of a pin... LE.. where I can get info on maintenance etc?

There's a bit much here and some of the usual exaggerations but you'll find that anywhere.

#6490 5 years ago
Quoted from PanzerFreak:

Just curious as JJP has recommended Wizards Mist N Shine for years. Is that considered a safe spray wax to use on playfields regardless of manufacturer?

And W/B said to use Wildcat #135 for decades

#6497 5 years ago
Quoted from Thunderbird:

Are you sure you’re not on Stern’s payroll

Worst Stern staff meeting presentation evar

#6670 5 years ago
Quoted from wesman:

I just watched the first half of the Deadflip video again, displaying the ruleset with Dwight and John, and I don't think I've seen a game as jackpot happy as this.

W?D comes to mind which is also a Dwight game

#6678 5 years ago
Quoted from Who-Dey:

The Munsters is a far better game than TAF. Matter of fact when i went and played Munsters the other night there was an Adams Family sitting beside Munsters. I dropped a couple quarters in it and played a game and had no desire to play it again.

Wow you liked a new Stern game more than _____?!

Quoted from Jvspin:

They could remove more things and the game would play even faster. Everyone knows speed = flow = fun.

Agreed! All the "shit" they put in a game just get's in the way of mods!

#6725 5 years ago
Quoted from britrex1:

Looking at how you've rated machines your opinion means absolutely nothing

But hey, maybe his drawn "proof" picture that Alien is the flowiest game of all time will change your mind?!

#6749 5 years ago
Quoted from PinMonk:

I would totally buy that if it were on every clip, but it's not.

So you have a hard time believing Stern didn't do a great job on an early coded game?
Bold.

Hopefully some feathering is on the next update

#6800 5 years ago
Quoted from Yelobird:

Seems like we have been tuned by games of the past to assume Wizard Mode meant we won and completed the game some how...

I don't know why anyone thinks completing level 1 of 3 is the wizard mode.

#6803 5 years ago
Quoted from tonycip:

Maybe there getting spoiled POTC has 6 wizard modes!!

Don't know enough aboot it, but I'm willing to bet all 6 of them are not wizard modes either
Term gets thrown out pretty easy these days.

#6805 5 years ago
Quoted from Lamprey:

How much you want to bet?

A fair amount
So they have a chart out for it yet somehwere?

#6808 5 years ago
Quoted from iceman44:

You can put 30 wizard modes into DI ...

Yes except it only has 1.

#6811 5 years ago
Quoted from tonycip:

You Mad Bro? Did Jack piss in your corn flakes?

Ice is on a "theme campaign" as of late.

Quoted from Lamprey:

Yeah, if you go to JJP's site there is a Rules Flow Chart under the POTC game.
http://marketing.jerseyjackpinball.com/potc/POTC-Rules-Flow.jpg

Thanks. So if I'm reading this right, you have to complete the 5 things they call a wizard mode to get to "Break the Curse," which I assume is the actual Wizard mode? THey don;t have it listed with a name so is there no mode involved or you just get points for it?
Are the "chapters" within each color grouping modes?

#6828 5 years ago
Quoted from Lamprey:

There are 5 wizard modes (one per movie) and a Final Wizard mode.

That is what I'm questioning

Quoted from Lamprey:

No matter what you want to call them, they are wizard modes. 6 wizard modes - Now pay up!!

Well I don't know if they're Wizard modes, that's the whole point. I try to stay away from semantic discussions but sadly there's no way to avoid it here.

Let's say we're playing SW and each film is broken up into chapters, completing those chapters leads to a movie/planet MB, which seems to be the way (?) JPOTC works.
I'm just trying to figure out what makes them diff'rent from each other, because no one would call the planet MBs "wizard modes." But I'm not familiar with all the nuances of JPOTC.
Is CIQC a wizard mode in DI, is Armageddon? I wouldn't consider either of them to be either.
Just like I wouldn't consider completing all level 1 modes in Munsters (hey Munsters talk!!!) and the ensuing fan fair to be a wizard mode.

Quoted from Lamprey:

My understanding is that you play the 5 movie wizard modes and that qualifies you for the final wizard mode: "Break the Curse."

Right, so my first thought is the wizard mode is "Break the curse."

#6844 5 years ago
Quoted from Squizz:

- $terns prices keep Rising and Rising!

JJP also raises their prices every game to be fair.

#6848 5 years ago
Quoted from Yelobird:

While different, API simply uses the add to cart system...Same flavor just a different shopping method in my opinion.

Depends...Whats the base price and what does it get you?

#6870 5 years ago
Quoted from iceman44:

When you are paying for all that “quality” up front ...

The problem is what you define as "quality." Does my DI weigh more than my SW, does it feel more solid construction wise, yes of course. Do I give a shit...not really.
Of course things like Subways are absolutely fair above quality, and so are the toys. Do I care aboot toys...little bit of both sides there.

Quoted from Yelobird:

Fair question. I guess that depends on what the buyer feels they need in a base model.

Like what the heck is an EOS upgrade, or power supply? (Sorry at work cant go to the website)

Quoted from Squizz:

I feel that stern sells jjp x 5 because....jjp is really a premium and up.

Correct, that is why. Stern makes damn fun games for a lot less than JJP. Whilst everyone has a pissing monies match there are tons of people that can't afford a JJP or Prem+Stern. I had one time chance with a flush of cash to afford a DI which I love, but unless I sell it I wouldn't consider buying another JJP for now.

Quoted from Squizz:

and don't really know many that have had problems with their jjp machines either.

Really? Light boards WOZ for 1, that was a major issue.
Head to the DI thread and see the problems there, we had TONS of them from big things like cracking clear coat day 1, little things like incorrect wiring from the factory, a trap door design that left a lot to be desired etc.

I've had 1 node board fry and 1 JJP board fry.

How about we post photos of all plastics and complain about them?

Whenever there's a shitty plastic art I just look at the Bill Murray on the GB backglass; that usually puts things in perspective.

Quoted from Colehvac1:

...and glad I didn’t listen to all the negativity in this thread...

I have no idea why anyone listens to anyone aboot which game to buy.

#7163 5 years ago
Quoted from Colehvac1:

Also stern adds a cliffy protector in the grandpa scoop, doesn’t scream cheap to me. I do notice the playfield clear looks much thicker or shinier, I wonder if they changed the process some how. Theleg bolts also come with washers now( not cheaper) .

Clear changes each release or maybe even as the months move on. My SW isn't that impressive, IMDN looks thick as shit.

Holy shit a $10 cliffy and washers... It's like the great Gatsby around here!!!

#7178 5 years ago
Quoted from Whysnow:

ummm
may want to look under the hood of Munsters...

Dude...are they back?

Quoted from Durzel:

Problem is if you like Munsters then where else are you going to buy a Munsters pinball machine from?

Maybe stop being a theme whore?

Quoted from Durzel:

What Stern needs really is serious competition in the "crank several new pins out every year" space.

Ha, that's not happening anytime soon so they're not worried aboot it.

#7181 5 years ago
Quoted from Whysnow:

I have seen 2 and oddly one with pegs and one with rails...

Hmm...maybe an early model for shows or something?

#7190 5 years ago
Quoted from GGBGROUP:

Did anyone notice that the Munsters has a series of B&W animations and instructions on the LED screen that shows how to start a game, launch the ball and use the flippers? Did any prior game have this 'intro-to-pinball' sequence?

Noticed that on Deadpool this weekend.

Quoted from Rum-Z:

Iron Maiden has something similar.

Shit I've owned it and never noticed

#7197 5 years ago
Quoted from Rum-Z:

I've watched the video. When you're not the 5 time VFW League Champ, you need all the help you can get.

#7201 5 years ago
Quoted from cooked71:

I need to be talked down off the ledge....Ive got a deposit on an LE and I’m seriously thinking of bailing and buying Beatles Gold instead.

Yeah that's an issue for sure. I went to a place to play both of these games last weekend, and Beatles was broken, and they DIDN'T EVEN HAVE Munsters!
So there you have it.

Another button is fine, because it's not that hard for me to understand. It might be for people off the street, but I don't know why I'd care what they think.

#7272 5 years ago
Quoted from Bublehead:

If people want a child theme based pinball machine, Frozen II is coming. You may pop your eardrums with a giant silver needle after the billionth refrain of “Let it Go” but most parents are now immune from over exposure. .

Pretty much the same as my IMDN...as long as you can turn the music down it may be passable.

#7282 5 years ago
Quoted from Bublehead:

The Munsters theme is so ear worm worthy, you find yourself humming it hours after playing it.

Ha that's how GOT was

#7284 5 years ago

Yeah that's nothing like Jackbot at all.

#7290 5 years ago

also it doesnt look well.
