Quoted from PinMonk:

SW Pro is DEFINITELY lacking. AC/DC Pro is lacking the least. GoT Pro is right in the middle.

Have u ever actually played any of those games? far from lacking. Some guys need a bunch of crap all over the PF to make a pin special I guess

Quoted from benheck:

I'm on your same side of the pond and Munsters make me think WTF

Gary Stern isn't stupid he knows who's buying pinball machines and it ain't 20 somethings. Batman 66, Munsters they will be more. I'm an 80's kid so I would be all over lets say..................I got nothing. Movies from the 80's, that list is very long #1 on the list a Star Trek pin based on all 6 films, I loved them all but would settle for a Wrath of Khan LE.

Quoted from javagrind888:

You're kidding right? There are tons of great 80's movies to make a pinball for.

Sitcoms not movies read the post more carefully next time sir.

Quoted from Rarehero:

I’m just saying - Spooky campy comedy works for pinball.

No it doesn't its terrible. I've played RZ and AMH and the comedy sucks. Its like the custom call outs for GB's and ST or the Hillbilly in TWD. Very rairly do they pull it off. STTNG comes to mind, and thats mostly because they didn't try to make it funny.

#1429 5 years ago
Quoted from Rarehero:

You’re still doing your “I hate comedy” schtick? It’s not funny.

I love comedy, good comedy that is. Sorry but if you find pinball humor to be "quality comedy" then I really having nothing else to say.

#1434 5 years ago

Why don't you go play Nintendo and think its good, then laugh at the jokes in family guy which is unfunny garbage. Finally? not a chance.

Quoted from ShinyBall:

I enjoy driving my 20+ year 1970 GTO much more then my wife's "high tech" bells and whistles 2017 car. So that analogy don't wash in my garage.

Yeah I agree with ya, prefer older cars as well but what does ur wife drive? I recently test drove a Porsche Cayenne turbo and it was pretty great, bells and whistles and all.

Quoted from nasco62:

A lot of old obsolete games in the top 5 (4 to be exact).

F**k the top 5. It mostly sits that way due to pretentious old pinball geeks who prefer that cartoony, bad joke easy gameplay style to the fast and furious deep games coming out today. Oh Yeah.

#1626 5 years ago
Quoted from ShinyBall:

You don't really have to be a old geezer to see it's happening with the younger people..they are making n64 a classic as well as other platforms, and yes, some are cartoooony also. (they brought them back too..retro)

Every generation will have their classics, and some of us appreciate the classic's of the generations before "ours"

Im with ya but that gap is getting less and less with every new generation, there will always be old souls out there however from what I notice todays generation has little to zero interest in anything other than whats new. Those old console remakes are like pinball, very few will be sold to young folk. As far as every generation having classics I think that died at the turn of the century. not many films and even less in the way of music will last, I'm just glad I grew up when I did.

Quoted from DS_Nadine:

I still find it strange but maybe Stern just doesn't want Musters to compete with Monster Bash and Bill & Ted really gets pushed forward.

A game most of us have played and owned vs a modern Stern pin with an endearing theme to so many old timing pinheads. That dog don't hunt.

Yeh I agree, this has to be in there somewhere:

never really watched this show but hello Pat Priest how u doing? Lovely

#2250 5 years ago
Quoted from Bublehead:

I think The Munsters is an Addams Family knock off cash grab trying to masquerade as a Monster Bash remake killer.

That is my opinion and I am sticking to it.

well ur opinion is horseshit, Stern doesn't care about CGC and JJP or any of the other boutique companies, maybe once one of them becomes an actual threat but for now and the forseeable future Stern is king and with good reason.

#2355 5 years ago
Quoted from Jackalwere:

Totally untrue.

Since JJP arrived, Stern has:

- added LCD screens and hired animation artists
- increased # of coders and made a stronger commitment to update code in games (BM66, WD, AS are all great examples)
- added Franchi, ZombieYeti and Dirty Donnie as artists
- improved quality control
- started contract manufacturing
- hired more designers

Are there other factors at work? Sure. But to say the competition has meant nothing? When Stern had no competition, you had games with DMD only, photoshopped art, and incomplete or long delays in code. Competition is healthy!

I agree competition is healthy and I'm glad theres multiple companies making pins but LCD's were inevitable regardless and SM, LOTR's SPParty some of Sterns best games came before JJP exsisted. There is no threat right now from any boutique manufacturer.

#2358 5 years ago
Quoted from Thunderbird:

You’re right there is no threat because Stern’s copy and paste system, can’t be threatened. No other maker makes such simple no frills pinball tables than Stern. The great thing about Stern is their motto is: how good is good enough, cause we don’t care. I was at a pinball arcade and realized after playing a dozen Stern’s that they all began to blur and seemed to play and be near the same table. Just a couple ramps, with some plastics thrown here and there for a theme and relatively no motorized toys. DP with a slinky bash toy and IM with a lifting ramp. Not much at all in interactive toys. If the asking price were what they were just 7-8 years ago, then such a sparse amount of goodies is fine, but when the asking price is double that of 7-8 years ago, shouldn’t we expect a great deal more?

Even Stern’s boutique tables like Beatles and Primus cost an incredible $8,000.00 for not much at all. Cannot believe anyone would be sucked into paying that kind of money for so little in return. Those tables should only be no more than $3k to $4k tops.

We all need to vote with our money and just say no to Stern’s policy of giving very little in game toys, quality and code depth versus what other makers give us for our money spent. That would return pricing away from gouging us to being fairly priced again like it was just 7 years ago. When Tron could be purchased NIB for $3,800. Hoping Munsters will reflect a change in offering and fair pricing, but it probably won’t. Maybe if Beatles Boutique table does poorly Stern will rethink their strategy and return us to the good ol’ days of pinball. They would flourish if they did and make even more money than they do now.

Sorry but I'll never understand this whole launch debate, its pretty much the same people buying these pins over and over again, will it deter u from a purchase with a late or early reveal? its happening so who cares? and its Stern so any day now they will make the announcement then within weeks people will have their games. Be happy.

#2623 5 years ago
Quoted from kermit24:

I don't think anyone is angry here. We just love new pinball and want to see it! All happiness over here.

Who said angry? I love new pinball as well but couldn't care less on how they reveal the game.

#2798 5 years ago
Quoted from JodyG:

I am not a Star Wars fan whatsoever. But I am totally in shock with how uninspiring and phoned-in looking this game is. It is one of the only games I will walk by and not play on location. At art is beyond bad. But it does very well on location...go figure. Theme sells.

Theme sells yeah and it also causes people to walk by a game that looks "phoned in" but is amazing because they aren't into the theme.

#2838 5 years ago
Quoted from Skyemont:

This always scares me with Stern.

As apposed to that company that always releases hits? Come on fella, smartin up.

#2850 5 years ago
Quoted from cpr9999:

Stern might have missed their window for extraordinary sales on Munsters

No they haven't, man this is getting old with you guys. Pinball is a very very small niche market of mostly older men who love pinball and themes from their childhood. The Munster's will sell regardless of when its released, who exactly do you believe might now pass on this game due to the market, MB or Xmas? Maybe a very tiny portion of potential buyers but for me anyway if I want a game its a done deal, no matter the circumstances. I really think we need to leave Sterns marketing and finacials out of it because as history has shown it doesn't matter.

#2894 5 years ago
Quoted from MK6PIN:

First time I've heard this analogy, and incredibly accurate!!!!! Great input....thanks....

I hope ur being sarcastic. The matress/pin anaolgy?

#2904 5 years ago
Quoted from snaroff:

I love my analogy Are you able to properly assess a pin after playing it for 10-15 minutes? Not me. That's the point of the analogy (in case it wasn't obvious). Unless the pin is a total dog, the financial downside of the "in home trial" isn't huge...and besides, it's a great way to rationalize irrational pin purchase behavior

No offense intended. I'm a big fan of bad analogies. As long as u like it thats all that matters. I've bought so many pins and said to myself "this ones a keeper" and rairly will it last longer than a few months. As for matresses, waterbed, freeflow thats the ticket.

#2940 5 years ago
Quoted from MK6PIN:

I had a waterbed years and years ago.....broke, flooded the apartment...talk about wet dreams!!!..

just remember the hype on iron maiden le. gonna be the same thing with munsters. marginal le with a few extras for big money grab.

Wait a minute you mean a company wants to make big money? thats an outrage and some people are getting the best possible version of a pin with a theme they adore? well thats just wrong.

#3190 5 years ago
Quoted from Who-Dey:

That IMDN pin was horrible i tell ya! It should be a crime to make such a terrible and boring game like that!

I know what a dud. Bad sound, shitty layout and the LE version was a straight rip off.

Quoted from hoby1:

Yep.....So the LE and pro may be color but the Prem is BW. That would be seriously messed up.

How is it people know without seeing it that the B/W version if its a reality won't be great? Might look amazing but I will say one thing it would be wise for Stern to release pictures and if the feedback is purely negative then reconsider as the Pre is that last to be built.

#4177 5 years ago
Quoted from Yoko2una:

the backlash I'm seeing at the use of it right now is equally on par with Abobolee-bo-bo.

Yeah but the backlash regarding "Abobolee bo bo" was justified, it sucked in the movie and was 10x worse in the pin. The laugh track sounds just fine.

Not a problem if you say from day one !
We’re making a 1000 !
I hate people who tell you one thing
And do another !

Didn’t Tony Montana say I have my word and my Balls ! I don’t break either one

Yeah I agree if it was my Banker or my Doctor, my Escort, my Lawyer or maybe my dealer but a Pinball Company? who gives a shit. If thats the reason to get out of buying an LE it wasn't in the cards anyhow.

#5901 5 years ago
Quoted from Bublehead:

Compared to the rest of society, I am that deep pocketed collector type... I dropped $8300 on a NIB pin recently and didn’t bat an eye at the expense. That is not something that makes me proud to say by the way. How many people who play pinball actually own a machine? There are plenty on here who look at anyone spending big $$$ on a pinball machine as a snobby rich mother f--ker, and I don’t know that many people personally who have a hobby other than guns, cars, or fine art who spend more on their hobbies in general than pinheads. And pinheads with deep pockets buy LE’s... I did. Now did I say all LE buyers are deep pocketed?, no but damn, who is eating ramen and selling their plasma to by a Munsters LE?!? I’ll send ya a case of ramen if you ask.

$8300 toy makes u "deep pocketed" oh wait you didn't bat an eye.

#6049 5 years ago
Quoted from Rolls-Royce:

I just hope that is Superman I & II, or just Superman(1978)... period!

I could handle 3, always liked that film. Plus a mode with evil Superman vs good Superman wouldn't suck. Still 1 and 2 is a must. Zod has to be there.

Quoted from Squizz:

I feel ya.

Prices for JJP are approx same as Sterns LEs here, but the build quality of Jacks machines are far superior!
you can see where the money is, and you know keith will do justice with the titles as too Lyman does.

If ony JJP could produce 2 titles a year, I think Stern would feel the pinch and give us more of what we should be seeing for a 14k Le or 12k premium

They are, I don't see it. A few of the OP's that I know know won't buy JJP due to issues and while all pinball has issues this horseshit with JJP build quality is weak, last week. I wouldn't care if JJP made 3 titles a year with the themes they use and the gameplay to date Stern still has my money. A nice thought for the fanboys but doubtful.

#6085 5 years ago

Thanks for that.

#6086 5 years ago
Quoted from PanzerFreak:

the entire head of the cabinet is still made out of wood

Again with the wood. Stop please ur killing me.

#6087 5 years ago
Quoted from robotron:

i bet the man buys cases of grey poupon!!

No I drink Johnny Walker Black but nice try. All I'm saying is deep pockets is all relevant to how much money u have. Buying a 250K car is deep pockets to prretty much all of us but to some its a weekend. Not me mind you, I can buy a new pin once a year and thats what I like, I don't go on vacation, I don't have kids we all have.............Ahh who cares.

#6090 5 years ago
Quoted from ShinyBall:

Some here think $8300 is deep pockets ...why...cause it's a pinball machine? Toys are toys.

exactly, my brother always makes little cracks on how it must be nice to have money for pinball machines that cost 8K yet he just bought a dinning room table for 7K that you eat food off of and its just fine. What wrong with a nice $800 ikea dinner table that leaves plenty for a Stern Pro. so yes its "cause its a pinball machine" which is really stupid.

#6102 5 years ago
Quoted from PinMonk:

I could have said harder wood.

Longer-lasting wood?

Smoother wood?

Thicker wood?

The list goes on and on.

I'm sure it does, u JJP fanboys love "wood"

-4
#6129 5 years ago
Quoted from PanzerFreak:

Yeah, your right. A crappy grade of plywood is better! I mean besides being prone to splitting at the seams it helps make the cabinet lighter. That's a smart move by Stern. What the hell is JJP thinking offering a quality product. Crazy!

I don't care nor will I ever care about the grade of "wood" in my pins. I've never experienced any kind of splitting cab or PF and even if I did I still wouldn't care about the "wood". Fook the "wood" thats what she said.

#6134 5 years ago

I think Stern knows whos buying pins, young folk will never buy pins in my opinion and we will continue to see 70's 80's bands, 60's tv series so on and so on. Now I know ur kids might love pinball and OP's see kids playing all the time but this will not translate into a entire new generation of people buying NIB pinball machines, Its a nice thought but far fetched. Hey, I hope I'm wrong.

#6369 5 years ago
Quoted from Bublehead:

Boy, I never seen so much “meh” dripping off the walls for a pinball machine title since, what, Deadpool?

U haven't? Seems to me this is just about every game. Sometimes its the opposite and things look great but then the quality shit starts. One thing I've learned is that really u need to stay a soild year behind when it comes to pins. March 2020 is when I will judge this pin, until then who knows for sure. The shallow rule thing is garbage because some of the best games out there have a shallow rulle style and to say "at these high prices rules must be deep" is crap. Could turn out in a year from now mind you it fits the game perfectly and all this stuff was a big waste of time.
