Quoted from CrazyLevi:

"lite" has been used as both a verb and a noun in pinball for about 70 years.
Seems a little late in the game to get bitchy about it now.

I was fairly certain it was. I just couldn't think of an example in my head. I promise I am not "bitchy" about it.

All good. I found a great example:
Lights vs Lites

Quoted from Amused_to_Death:

For me, I think I'm going to drop from LE, what I thought might be B&W, to the Premium. Having watched the show while it originally aired in the '60s, the Premium is how I remember the Munsters. ...
I've had the hots for Lily since Moses left her to go find a burning bush, so seeing her front and center on the Premium's translite is definitely a plus. What's cookin', Lily? ...

Quoted from Who-Dey:

I too think the black and white just "fits" this theme the best. All models look amazing and are just beautiful in every way though. ...

I personally prefer Lily (and the rest of the playfield art) in color. Having the original TV clips in black & white is fine enough for me and also helps to set them apart from the game's artwork on the Pro and LE.

It's nice to have choices though - to each their own!

Quoted from BackFlipper:

Okay, somebody please help me because I am not sure if I am confused. Is it common in pinball to use the word "lite" instead of the word "light?" I was looking at Grandpa's Laboratory and the words "Lite Machine" used twice on the lower playfield are really bothering me. Is this normal?

Same for me...Went to the Stern site and looked at a bunch of great pics. I think the custom side armour on the LE looks great, as well as vibrant PF art....Think they did an outstanding job on this title visually, and gameplay looks fun...We shall see...

#4411 5 years ago

Personally I LOVE the black and white. I have never thought of getting a new in box pro let alone a premium but... even the wife likes this one especially in black and white. Lucky for me it is not the LE that I would never get and they will be making this one for a while, so I have time to find the cash or get over wanting one.

#4412 5 years ago

The whole Lite thing can be explained quite simply as a popular pinball doing it once upon a time, then everyone copying it from that point onwards. Twas ever thus.

Lite beer

Better yet, show me an example where they used LIGHT on a pin. Are their any?

I was really hoping to find Lite/Lit and Light on the same machine.. That might be a good challenge

Great find and color coding on your pic. As this has gone unnoticed for 29 years, maybe it should be considered an easter egg. In any event, Data East should send you a free Simpsons pinball.

#4421 5 years ago

Just played a few games on the Munsters. They were streaming the pro so I only quickly played it. The game is fun and it looks fantastic. Each version is very good looking in it's own way. Very good use of the LCD as well. The mini lower playfield does add something pretty substantial in my initial plays. It could get old at some point but way to early to tell for me.

I think it is safe to say that "lite" is a term accepted specifically to pinball which likely has origins from poor grammar school training in the early days of pinball machines having light.

#4423 5 years ago

Perhaps this is the origin of the term being improperly used in pinball (1935, light up game Tick 'A' Lite):

I am sorry I opened up this can of worms in this thread. I do appreciate that it was the "Stoner" Corporation that started it.

No worries. My OCD did start kicking in pretty fierce on the improper word use though. One that has always blown my mind is when people use lightning when they mean lighting.

#4426 5 years ago

Interesting story about them (Stoner Corporation). They were apparently sued by the US Government for excess war profiteering.

Especially when they are driving too... LOL

Grammar and spelling went down the crapper with smart phone usage.

Quoted from 3pinballs:

what, has it been 2 years since dwight did anything with the code on GB

It's been WAY TOO LONG, especially with the amount of annoying/serious bugs the game has that are easy to find/fall victim to.

Just misspell a word here buddy, the spelling police will be on you like stink on cat poo.

Crazy good way :-p it’s the one I want

#4436 5 years ago

I dont mean to sound like a weirdo or anything, but I kind of just want a miniature pin with grandpa’s playfield. $500 sounds about right, make that happen stern. Re-theme it to whatever. Would be a cool promo item if anything.

No it’s cool. I wanted a Stewie mini pf back a few years ago. Still would like one. But how functional and fun by itself? Not much without code.

Simple code. Few modes. It looks to be decently controllable ball wise. I think a full mini playfield in a mini cab would be a tad bigger right? Longer at least maybe. Could have two orbits and a small up post for the lower orbit to mix it up. Less than $500 would be nice, but I wont kid myself there. Ill pay for the quality. I bet thats not even enough.

Yes. Then LEs in Feb and Premiums March 1st. At least that's the schedule currently.

Lite. Light. This is 2019. It should be LOITE!

Well you are gonna need a display as well, and something to run and power the whole thing.

I don't think $500 pulls it off sadly.

But you can be sure they are trying to figure out a way to do it!

#4447 5 years ago

Maybe it's SHIPPING 1/21? Dist schedule definitely said 1/21 for Pros. And are those production pics from today or from when they made the batch of overseas pins?

#4448 5 years ago
Quoted from Skyemont:

There was a video of PRO on the line yesterday.. So already being built..

#4449 5 years ago

Take a close look at Sterns official video showing highlights of each game. Notice the art blades on each model especially the Pro. That would have to be a Pro add on as I don’t see art blades included. So you could really mix and match blades on any model if you so desired. You could put colored blades on the Premium to brighten it up and dress up the Pro with LE blades.
