Time to kick this thread off!

Mine is on its way home right now. Looking forward to diving into the dev kit and getting into some new pinball experiences!

Lexy is just the beginning, some of the other games that come out of the box have great potential. The full power of this platform has yet to be fathomed. Features like network pairing for heads up games between units in different locations, cloud based competition, are all in the realm of feasibility.

Who else is awaiting their production date??

#2 6 years ago

Cannon Lagoon is best game ever created, bar none. That programmer deserves a raise.

#3 6 years ago

Yes.....eagerly waiting to play Lexy and begin learning game development.

#4 6 years ago

Waiting "patiently" for my run 2 delivery

This is almost as bad as waiting for a kid to arrive after nine months!

#5 6 years ago

Mine will be shipping soon (First Run). But I'm in Oz and being shipped sea so might take a while.... can't wait

#6 6 years ago

Ah man - ya beat me to it @_xizor, I've been waiting to do this but you beat me to it..

no word on my shipping date but if 1st runs are still going out I'm thinking late next month, I'm somewhere in run 2.

I'm with you though-- very excited for so many aspects of the p3. The dev environment, and hopefully being able to share custom ideas between owners, the modularity and game swaps, the technology and all the coding and gameplay it opens up. It's like a pinball playground., potentially opens up homebrews to a few more owners as it cuts out some big hurdles. Hoping I can find time to learn unity at some point.

#7 6 years ago

I've just started on some of the Unity tutorials. It's a nice environment. I'm looking forward to seeing what Multimorphic has in their libraries.

I'd hoped to take mine to our local Maker Faire in late September but I think that's unlikely since they seem to still be on the tail end of first run production. Maybe I can have a Halloween party instead!

#8 6 years ago

Well looks like run 2 delayed again

Halloween party not looking likely, but I'm hoping mine makes it in time for an early x-mas present

Always cool to see production pics though

#9 6 years ago

I'm expecting a bunch of bugs to work through, so a delay isn't the end of the world if it results in some improvments.

I don't know who is going to have the furthest shipping distance, but if mine shows up damage free that's good news for anyone in the states and it'll have a fighting chance of getting to Australia in one piece.

Easy for you to say -- yours is on the way lol

I agree though reluctantly -- better to get a better product than shipped something quickly that has issues or incomplete coding (hi stern!!)

I just snugged up my 4 pins to make sure there's room for Lexy -- just barely but that 5th is going in there even if there's only an inch between all the heads

Got to be getting close now. I just want to see an unboxing and review from a new owner, is that too much to ask?

#12 6 years ago

If all goes well it arrives tomorrow or Friday.

Welp, shipment didn't make it here as originally intended today, so now I wait on pins and needles till next week.

Feels like waiting for Christmas as a kid.

I always forget how unpredictable shipping to Canada is. Sometimes our FAST orders go through fine, other times they get tied customs. I hear it is so that they can ensure all the values are properly declared so they can charge the recipients appropriately.

Hope your game gets there soon!

Does that add a lot of cost to the p3 then for Canadian owners?

#17 6 years ago

Everything that needs freight is horribly expensive.

Shipping was $1070usd and my taxes were over another $1000usd.

On average you pay 20% more...

Ouch! Sorry to hear that. I am always bummed to hear what people get charged on $1000 in boards, but the hit on a $10k pin! Damn!

Holy cow that's insane. And to think I wasn't looking fwd to my 350 shipping or whatever it's going to be lol. Puts it in perspective.

Nice!

By taller, do you mean when standing on the dolly?

#28 6 years ago

The height of the cabinet.
It is a good 3+ inches more than a standard cabinet.

You can see legs are all the same, but it is substantially higher up than the Dialed In beside it.

It is everything Gerry said it would be.

Lots to take in, absolutely unique, definitely not like the other manufactures.

Crating / Unpacking / Setup: As expected. Professionally done, printed manual pointed everything out. Back box bolts lock in at the sides, which was new for me. Wasn’t 5 minutes to setup.

Build quality: Overall excellent. The 3D printed parts are very high quality, the graphics are crisp, monitor(s) look good. No dead pixels

First Game: Sweet. Menu system is intuitive for the most part. Didn’t need the manual to figure out what was going on. LL-EE playfield installed out of the box. Plays smooth. The sounds and sights are different than a traditional pinball, became comfortable very quickly. Openness of LCD playfield physically, combined with the interaction on the screen is cool.

Congrats it looks terrific! It's exactly the kind of engineering I'd expect from Gerry. Enjoy your game and the many possibilities that are coming.

#35 6 years ago

Finally had some time to break open the 2nd playfield, Cannon Lagoon.

Just like the cabinet, it came super well packed. First thing I noticed when I opened the box was the huge LCD monitor on the unit.

Cannon Lagoon is a redemption style game, kids love it. See the ship, shoot the ship...

Upper playfield swap was as easy as in the tutorial videos. Didn’t take 5 minutes.

Cannon Lagoon becomes unlocked in the menu with the playfield installed and away you go.

The upper playfield module came with a whole specific set of cabinet decals / art, which are magnetic. Also comes with two lower playfield pieces to better integrate the whole theme.

And the first to post about it

Love the way cannon lagoon lower pf pops on the LCD, very crisp!

Was just thinking -- I wonder if there will be much of any secondary market in 2 to 3 years for upper modules / artwork kits? I can imagine that overtime people might not jive with one or need cash for a new one, etc.. and of course rather than selling the whole p3 just the modules would show up in the marketplace. How many will we be at in 2 years? On our way to 3.. maybe 1 more from mm in 2018, and possibly a custom 1 or 2? Guessing more software only packages, but also probably no way to resell those? Curious how that will work - license tied to individual machine, or a transferable code?

#38 6 years ago

Good question on the transferable software. Right now CL and LLEE came pre-loaded with no media.

I can delete software from the menu but I can’t add.

The pin connects to the internet via a wifi connection and I can download updates, so I assume if a new playfield module is detected you could be enabled to download the software from the server. (Total guess)

Congrats... I very patiently wait for Run#2.
I'm glad as I still need to find a place in the arcade. Something's gotta go... maybe that Voyager Gun-game.
Need to fix it first tho.

#40 6 years ago

Still need to make some videos, been playing it any chance I get.

LL-EE is pretty solid, I love the warehouse mode where you go into different rooms in the warehouse to collect parts and you can go back and forward into rooms to make sure you’ve broken all the crates open and collected everything.

I never really caught on to that feature in the game play videos. So much untapped potential there.

The game play change, theming change between modes is pretty cool. The flippers also can become restricted in bullseye mode where you can’t hold the fippers up.

The kids love the mini-games. Straight forward, very visual (obviously), but way less intimidating than a full game. Only “complaint” is that they want me to leave CL installed because it is so fun for them, but I want to play Lexy.

#41 6 years ago
Quoted from _xizor:

Ha! Glad I don't quite have that issue yet (well on more ways than one I suppose, seeing as there's no p3 here just yet). If kids are in the cards though I can def. see CL module in my future. Maybe I can buy yours if your kids ever tired of it and want something deeper lol.

So if you accidentally delete a mini game there's no way to get it back right now? Still super curious what the 'store' is going to look like. So cool that you can essentially browse and download right from the p3 directly!

#42 6 years ago

I have not been brave enough to delete yet, but I guess it won’t magically come back at the moment.

Where/how are you storing the module, art, etc that isn't currently in the machine?

I've been curious about this with both Multimorphic and Heighway.

If you happen to delete an application you can contact support, at Multimorphic, and they will get back to you and instruct you on how to get another application and have it installed. Once the store is setup things will be a little easier in getting applications added to the P3.

#45 6 years ago

Is there anything in the menu system that shows you storage stats - space used, free, image sizes etc? I know they use their standard controller and driver boards. Any idea what they are using for an MPU?

#46 6 years ago
Quoted from _xizor:

That right there encapsulates the beauty of this system. It enables games to be designed specifically for different groups of people.

#47 6 years ago

Here is a poorly shot video showing off some of the basics of the P3.
I am not a pinball wizard, especially when I have a camera in front of me I don't want to fall off a pole it isn't mounted to. I'll do a better video once I find my stand to mount the camera above the playfield properly.

0s - Main Menu on boot
- You can see it locks out Cannon Lagoon because the playfield is not installed.

13s - System Manager
- Add / Remove software, Connect to wireless, etc.

50s - ROCS Mini-game
- Restricts you to the video playfield.

2:10 - Barnyard Mini-game
- The barnyard starts off dark and gets brighter. Kids under 5 enjoy this one.

3:12 - Lexy Lightspeed
- You can see call outs/directions are straightforward, lots of different modes.
- I didn't get a shot of the warehouse mode in this video.

#48 6 years ago

_xizor -- you're the man!!! Thanks for posting the video- very cool to see the menu system and game selection. First time hearing callouts.. kinda meh on them but hopefully they grow on you -- I do really like David thiels sound package on Lexy though.

Also a little surprised - no music on rocs? Wonder how hard it would be upload some songs and have them play during it?

#49 6 years ago
Quoted from Mbecker:

I remembered playing ROCs at TPF and it had some background music. Maybe the volume is just too low for the microphone to pickup?

#50 6 years ago

Yup.
There is background music, volume is set independently for each game, this one was set too low.
