At M&M Creations, we first remade the previously unobtainium Williams MRS as found in: CC, CV, SWE1, SC, NGG, NBAFB & RFM - then we moved on to create custom MRS' for pins with bowls - who doesn't like watching the ball go 'round & 'round - CFTBL, Transporter, Diner & CC....but we wanted to broaden our horizons a bit with something a little more universal in it's application....so we would like to introduce a self-adhering MRS for plastic ramps/subways.....sorry, but sheet/wire metal ramps are a no to physics : (

The ramp MRS is plug & play - it simply sticks to any flat surface on a plastic ramp/subways (sides or bottom - kind of like NBAFB & CC does) and can come with bare wire leads for splicing (green to green, white to white) or if you know the length of wire needed to get back to the connector under the playfield - we are more than happy to connectorize it - Either way the ramp MRS is universal with all DE, SEGA and Williams switch matrix's....SYS11, WPC89, WPC95, PIN2K, Data East v3, the Sega Whitestar stuff.....the places you can use them are innumerable - I put some pics up so you can see what I'm talking about - there are a lot of applications to be found where sticky Cherry switches don't register, or hold up the ball or slow it down......and frankly, I'm sure some of you can even find other applications for it.

We thought it'd be good to having something a little more versatile - so here it is....see below - or more importantly - ask questions....pics are from CC, RFM, SC, CFTBL and of the MRS itself......remember, it's just pics - really for nothing more to get the brain going to kind of get the application - since there are so many ways to apply them.....

I was literally just going to PM you....that's nuts....shoot me a PM - I saw your Taxi resto and we wanted to create an MRS for the Spinout - but that's one pin we don't have (BBB, CC, SC, Transporter, Spirit - sure, but no Taxi? : ) ) .....so we were looking for some measurements and a tester.....

Correct....MRS' were used in various Sega and WMS pins....SW:Trilogy & Space Jam and Cactus Can, SafeCrack, Cirqus Vol, NBA Fast, No Good Gof, Revenge From Mars and SW: Ep 1.....

As far as your homebrew - if your using the same diode switch matrix approach as WMS and DE/Sega pins - yes - plug/play.....green to green, white to white as they say!

$30/piece....some have kindly expressed their feelings about the price - but when the original MRS' went extinct nearly 7 years ago - they were $25/pop...these are smaller, lighter and more sensitive.....hand built... not easy to make....or tune!

Yep, plastic subway ramps are the idea.....we haven't worked on them being used in Stern games however, that's one of the next steps...right now WMS & DE/SEGA pins...

The bodies are not flexible - they are rigid. So no bending.....there is a 3M adhesive already applied, correct. Several folks have used this version of the MRS to replace ramp switches....you can see a write up on the IJ forum and the WhoDunnit forum - to name a few. These are for flat surfaces, but can be custom fit to curved surfaces if needed. Let me know if I can answer any more questions!

Likely not....playfields are fairly thick (~13mm) - the original MRS' used in the 90's era pins had pockets routed out on the playfield to allow about a 6-7mm thickness at that point....

So the gap between the ball and the right side of the ramp (from the orientation of the pic) is - would you say <1/2"? Having an accurate measurement of the gap is key - that would determine the sensitivity. I assume you want to put it on the wall of the ramp - but could you put it underneath the ramp and centered?

Just to clarify, Markharris2000 - MRS' were used by WMS under playfields (and some ramps)...

No problem having it on any side of the ramp - let alone having it further down the ramp - it really doesn't matter as long as it is somewhere on the ramp...my fear underneath is the distance between the playfield and the bottom of the ramp....not having a Mousin to look at...putting an MRS down further where the ramp narrows would be your best best...you simply need longer wires to the connector. It can be adhered to anywhere flat on that ramp, accept an arc - for that we'd have to measure the radius...and make it custom.

The originals were pretty limited in sensitivity (at best 6mm) ....and yes sat in routed pockets....however ,some were put under inserts....however our MRS' are more sensitive - not a full playfield thick sensitive....but a good 33% more than the originals....

It is possible - but it depends first as to whether it's on a switch matrix of some sort....the MRS simply provides an closure upon ferrous detection (i.e. the ball).....if the Alien pin switch does the same - then it could work....do have pics or possible schems? Any further info could help since these are about a scarce as they get - I certainly don't know of any I can go look at...

Any sort of schems? I assume one socket is power- the other is the switching portion....curious, does this switch not work well? These inductive proximity sensors typically work well......
