Trying to figure out what's going on with my Judge Dredd. Playing the game and when I got the sniper tower it wouldnt kick the ball out. seems I shorted fuse F105 which was for coils 1-8.

turned game off replaced fuse then it popped again as soon as it turned it on.

Pulled Connector J127 still popped

Pulled J130 still popped

Pulled J107 for high voltage coils and didn't pop.

Checked all the related drive and ore drive transistors and the they all tested ok with DMM.

Now I'm stumped. the only thing I could find possibly wrong was resistor R260 did not test properly both ways when I swapped + - leads on DMM. one showed 00 and the other had a reading.

Could that be it or should I focus on something else?

Thanks for your help in advance. still trying to learn about all this.

I have had TIP 102 transistors check good in board , but replaced and all was good.

If pulling a playfield connector stops blowing the fuse, you have a shorted coil somewhere on J107. Grab your meter and test the coils for resistance. You’re going to find one either dead short, or near zero. Replace that coil.

I lifted the playfield and tested the coils previously. All tested ok.

with the playfield up this time I turned the game on and fuse didn't blow.

put the playfield down and noticed a spark on this when I connected it into the cabinet and fuse blew again.

Does this mean I have something shorting on this?

Good catch. Yes, something is shorting either to common ground or directly to the lockdown bar. Now you gotta look and find out what it is.

Just a fluke that I noticed it. Haven't had time to investigate further but butt look at it and hopefully fins and fix it. Thanks for your help!

Yes, excellent catch. The lock down receiver should have a ground braid on it. So I'm guessing one of your coils, (L/R flipper or L/R launch) is touching the apron or the support bars. Good luck.
