Anyone done this before? Seems like there is enough space with back seats down and front seats slid up most of the way, but hoping for confirmation and suggestions for future reference.

I've moved 2 on two separate occasions in a fit just fine! Mine is a 2013 sport, but I think they're all the same. Perfect pin hauler!

Rob Anthony (Borygard) has moved pins in his Fit...I think his model is a few years old.

Iv moved one in a fit. WH20. More than enough room. Doesnt take much work.

The guy that bought my Judge Dredd showed up in a Fit. I laughed as he handed me the cash. Then he stuffed that superpin right into the Fit and drove off. It was a slightly older one, but handled the JD fine.

Thanks for the info. Mine is a 2011 Sport model so should work too. Anything you suggest for the floor that sits about 6 inches lower than the bottom of the hatchback door? Rest it on boards to give it lift?

    #7 10 years ago

It has to be the new style fit, I am pretty sure a in won't fit in an old.............I've owned a new and old Fit.

Man I want a fit so bad. Best of both worlds--good economy *and* can haul a pin. How can you beat that? Plus they look pretty cool.

Mine is a 2008 model and I have moved a Getaway and DW in it no problem.

Does it matter which end goes in first? Also do you need to build up the floor to avoid the lip at the tail gate? Thanks.

Did mine with coindoor facing the hatch.

I've moved 90s Bally/Williams (including widebodies) and new Sterns in my 2007 Fit. I put two board running lengthwise on the floor of the car so the machine will slide back without getting hung up on the bumps. I load the coin door and slide the machine to the right side of the car so the shooter rod pokes out right between the seats. For a long drive, I used a ratchet strap over the machine to hold it to the floor and keep it from moving. I drove several hours and pretty much forgot that I even had a machine in the car.

I've moved 2 pins in my Fit. One was a widebody Middle Earth. No problem. 2011 Fit Sport.

Next time I pick up a pin I will have to take the wifes car.

I watched the answers coming in with great interest. The main criteria for my next car are price, fuel economy, and most important, will it comfortably fit a pin without having to remove the head, etc (my Subaru Forester is about an inch short in headroom to fit the bill). Basically, an economy pinmobile. So far it looks like the Fit is the best option, but it seems the fit is a bit harder on gas than most other economy cars, which irks me a wee bit. Curious if anyone knows of an option better on gas, though I suspect there is none at this point in my research.

It's not that the Fit is hard on gas, it's that certain other cars(Fiesta, hybrid cars) are even that much better with fuel economy. The Fit's not going to win you pink slip races, but not make you make frequent trips to the pump either. It's a compromise.

Scion xB is another good option. Haven't looked to see how it fares MPG wise vs the Fit but I've hauled 90's B/W games (including a widebody Judge Dredd) and 2000+ Sterns in mine without taking the head off, no problem.

We have a 13 Xb - pins fit in there fine , mileage is avg 28.3

I love, love, LOVE my 2008 fit. drives really nice, good mpg and it can haul pins! have used it to transport a gottlieb deadly weapon, pinbot, and earthshaker with no problems. depending on how you drive, you can get pretty good mileage for a non-hybrid. i get about 30mpg, give or take a couple miles with about a 60city/40city driving ratio. only time i get less is when my wife drives (she's the more aggresive driver).

did he have the older 2007/2008 model? i've measured the backs and didn't think widebodies would fit. anyone else have input on this? i measured a friend's newer version and the opening on the hatchback was a little larger. i just got a TZ and had to wait a week for the guy to drop it off as i didn't think it would fit in my Fit.

also, anyone know if you can use a 2010 insight for moving pins? just curious as i might be getting one and passing the fit on to my wife.

Moved a Twilight Zone in my 2007 Fit a couple weeks ago. No more difficult than non-widebodies.

Thanks! That's good to know for whenever I have to move it in the future.

I've got a 13 Fit Sport and had no problems moving a Family Guy or a STTNG. Put a piece of cardboard down so the game slides and doesn't snag your upholstery.

Not a bad pin mover indeed.

Favorite one from my 2009 Fit that I always put in these Fit threads:

Wait. How did you get the body of RFM in sideways!?

    #28 10 years ago

Yup - have used my 2009 Honda Fit to haul pins a number of times

Opened the rear doors to gain the additional space needed to rotate it sideways. Couldn't believe it actually worked.

There's a picture of a RFM hanging out the back of a Smart car. That's dedication.
