I started organizing and decorating my basement since I moved all my pins down there. One thing I decided to get was a few movie posters from my favorite movies. I bought a Ghostbusters, National Lampoons Vacation, and The Great Outdoors. I think I'm hooked on buying them now......

#2 6 years ago

My former hobby before pinballs. I have some nice things. Most of the market is on the lower end, which is good for the average joe.

#3 6 years ago

I dont collect anything high end, but I have a few in my "design on a dime" home theater room....

I’ve got the Italian poster for The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly (a great theme for a pin BTW) next to my machines.

I've got a few from my time working at a theater. Is there any real value to some of the more modern ones? I've got a couple from the Star Wars Special Edition.

#8 6 years ago

Here is the movie poster I got for my girlfriend for Christmas. It was actually her favorite gift.

I used to have thousands of movie posters from managing a theater in the 90s and early 2000s. I kept a few items but gave the bulk to goodwill.

I have an 8x12 lord of the rings banner that is my favorite.

#13 6 years ago

I am working on getting some signed posters. Friend just got a goodies one signed by most of the cast.

Have a few of my favorites in my pool room.

Kelly Garni opened a video store near where I was living in San Clemente shortly after the loss of his friend. He used to style us up with all kinds of movie swag. He was like the coolest dude ever.

One was an almost full size standup Clint Eastwood Pale Rider promo. We set it up in the kitchen. It's long gone though.

I have a bunch of James Bond posters. One is a poster of all the other posters. I've been trying to get stars from the movies to sign over their poster, mainly female stars. Barbara Carrera, Richard Kiel, Martine Beswick, Luciana Paluzzi,Lana Wood, Britt Ekland, Valerie Leon, Tanya Roberts,Maud Adams, Maryam D'abo, Diana Lee Hsu. 11 signatures on one poster. I dont know why pictures came out so bad.

The posters in my theater are not authentic, so they may not fit the thread. But the square ones are laserdiscs, which have been fun to find and frame.

Have a gold framed Hobbit poster I bought for the pin I never got. Would love to find a new home for it.

Years ago I was addicted and got original Tron movie poster and that is probably my best piece.

#33 5 years ago

Are fakes a problem in poster collecting? I would imagine it’s not too hard to replicate a poster.

#34 5 years ago

I have some files to do a digital movie poster that can rotate images. Someone over on KLOV Made one with a 42" flat screen.

#35 5 years ago

My entire game room is movie posters. I’m into Mondo vs theatrical posters because there’s a lot of creativity and design that goes into some of the prints. I dry mount them on foam core rather than frame.

I’m away from the house, so I don’t have many pictures, but you can probably tell my favorite movie:

I used to have a bunch of one-sheets but pared down over time - now I go for unique art that fits the theme of our games - so we have doctor who art, Houdini, twilight zone and a whole wall of monster stuff:

I wish I had some of those old cool ones from this thread. Those Indy posters are awesome. Here’s a couple I have hanging up. Most came from my time running a theater in the late 90s early 00s. The Hunger Games is signed by Jennifer Lawrence and I kind of lucked in to it seeing that my cousin married her brother lol. To show how out of sync I am, she was at the wedding and I didn’t even realize who she was until we left. I was probably the only person there that didn’t know her

I know a guy that has a beautifully framed 1930s 3-sheet The Mummy poster that looks amazing. Totally worth spending the money to frame something like that. It makes such a statement and adds to an already valuable poster. This one has nice color and a pretty lady but framing it professionally would exceed the value of the poster by quite a bit. I'd do it for the right one. It may end up with a home-made barn wood frame.
