Hobbit. It was last November so it may have been more of a prototype than finished product, but it was flat, slow, and did nothing. The new artwork I saw looked good though.

what would those pins have to say about you guys? ;D

    Bally Space Invaders

The art package is fantastic, but the gameplay is meh. The problem is that it's a super widebody, and there isn't much on the playfield to fill it. Most of the playfield is just wide open space.

I completely agree, also roller disco is the same way. (both great looking games but...)

    Any machine not properly leveled

I hit a TAF that had all 4 legs the same height. I swear after 20 minutes on my first ball my arms were tired and I walked away.

Interesting- I always felt the challenge here was managing side-to-side motion and flipper control. Very tricky with the four flippers in that configuration, keeps me liking it.

You're right that there are only four or five things you'd actually want to shoot for despite it being such a wide machine, and two of those things are the horseshoe entrances.

The Hankin Star Wars game is similar, and equally as dull. Too bad because the art is great.

Avatar, something about it I couldn't get into. Walked away and gave the rest of my credits to some kid.

Varkon. I didn't even make it to ball 3. Snooooze. It's a cool looking machine, but just not fun to play.

    #20 3 years ago

Predator. Phew, finally I can get that off my chest.

    Avatar, SG are up there.

    NBAFB for sure.

    Predator.

Disclaimer: I'm not posting this to be inflammatory, it's a bad time maybe but I was very underwhelmed. Refer to my previous impression for justification as needed.

Oh man, I am going to agree. I played it at arcade expo. Never have I been so excited to see a pin, and then so utterly disappointed in it. Did you get to the slowest most boring video mode ever made? It took like a full minute to even load and start on the one I played, but granted that might mean it just needed to be fixed. I said to my friend after our game that we struggled to finish "I have always wanted to play that game, and now I am glad I never have to play it again."

DOH! I meant Dakar, not Varkon!

There's something super boring about Space Shuttle - ironically, it's on my wish list... I love early SS games and its cool looking. But a boring play.

What video mode were you playing on Varkon?

Shrek. I just didn't find it enjoyable.

    Also, a poorly maintained Genie.

As long as I have a high score to chase. Nothing is boring to me. No competition is what gets boring to me.

Yep. I'm not sure in what Universe BBH would be considered boring.

    #44 3 years ago

Star Wars Trilogy - just a terrible waste of a perfect theme.

haha. I will admit I did not put much time on it (approx. 20 plays). But that game being punishing only makes it more boring to me. To me, if a game is hard, the theme and artwork better be awesome, or else I will get really bored and have no drive to get better at it. Not sure why.
