CV and Avengers Hulk LE

#102 10 years ago

Whitewater would take the cake on this one for me. John Youssi really nailed it and the creation of a physical space that hasn't been as heavily abstracted as other games is really impressive. The backglass is one of my favorite images ever. I think TZ and STTNG have some of the best playfield artwork as well. Also a big fan of T2's symmetrical look. Popaduk's games are obviously very pretty. CV is definitely one of the best looking pinball machines I've ever played. The color scheme on it (and BBB for that matter) can teach designers a few things about what's attractive. I can't call it beautiful per se but Roadshow is a fascinating looking game to me and I never get bored of its playfield. Pinball machines are inherently beautiful to me so its hard to pick.

Theatre of Magic for cabinet art, Wizard of Oz for total package.

#104 10 years ago

Of all I've had or have...
TOTAN

There is no better topper than WW.

#106 10 years ago

Definitely Mata Hari. Very easy on the eyes. The colors and artwork are timeless.................

#107 10 years ago

Right now it is Pinball Magic for me, at least until JPOP's Zombie Adventureland gets released.

WOW. From my perspective, the PF on Pinball Magic is UGLY!...

#109 10 years ago

maybe he meant Theater of Magic with reference to jpop at the end there?

No argument from me.

I own both machines, and I do prefer the Pinball Magic...toys, artwork..a tad bit more.
All in the eyes of the beholder, eh?

#113 10 years ago

absolutely tex! I still put totan ahead of either

#114 10 years ago

Hard to choose between Arabian Nights and Theater of Magic. But, since Theater is actually fun to play, I'll go with it.

Honestly, Ghostbusters is up there on the top shelf as well. But I'm a theme-o-phile: I just love the hell out of that thing.

EDIT: Should also mention that I think it's a lot easier for Nights to look great than Theater. Theater really needs good lighting or it can fall from grace pretty quick. Nights looks fairly great as long as it's clean.

What ? Blue Chip ?

LOL. Not exactly. And there are lots of beautiful games, for various reasons and tastes. But in terms of pure artwork, colors, etc., I've seen an amazing game in development that is simply stunning.

#120 10 years ago

I really like how the Black Hole machine looks. Always attracted to the cabinet and now that I've got to play it, gameplay too.

#121 10 years ago

#122 10 years ago

Put the poll up already. I keep coming in here to vote and track results.

You guys have obviously not seen a Star trek LE?
Easily the most nicest pin ever made.

#135 10 years ago

Interesting that 3 top ones (including the #1 totan) are from the same designer. Was Popadiuk more demanding of his team than others or did he got lucky to always get the best artists?

Oh and I will not add a poll after all. We have too many options to only put 10.

He is an incredible artist in his own right.

I recommend polls with >9 top answers do this (I plan to re-do my "best year for pins ever" poll this way):

EM bracket (choose 1 of 9)
Early SS bracket (choose 1 of 9)
DMD bracket (choose 1 of 9)
"21st cent" bracket (choose 1 of 9)

Then face off the 4. You can run all 4 of those polls at once since they do not overlap each other. It allows people to vote 4 times if they choose.

Best PF: TOTAN

Best cab: BBB (so unique!)

Best BG: Haunted House.

#139 10 years ago

Hell. I need to revise my vote. Game's not produced yet, but, how can Nemo not be on the list?

Yeah, must do. Nemo for me all the way.

#141 10 years ago

The Matrix by far. I've never seen anything close. My new Holy Grail!-Joe

#144 10 years ago

Williams Wonderland is my personal "eye candy" favorite. There are a lot of great looking wood rails.

For something more modern maybe Fathom or TOM.

I don't know if I'd call Paragon "beautiful" but it has a very dynamic art package.

Honorary mention to Bride of Pinbot, just for the creative and subtle art work. R.I.P. Python.

#146 10 years ago

Genie, Incredible Hulk (playfield - not backglass), WOZ, Diner, BoP

I still miss my Bride of Pinbot. One of the best packages of art and sound. Gameplay it isn't among the best, but I did enjoy playing it. Rules hold it back some, just wish there was a bit more to shoot at.

There may be prettier machines than Big Daddy out there. But not in my house. I never get tired of looking at it.
