This is a huge problem for people like me. Sometimes, when I go on location to play some quality pinball, I accidentally annoy the people. They may be only visibly annoyed, but I can see what those sounds are doing to their brains. Post experiences and trouble with stupid quotes and sounds here.

Here's mine:

OKOKOKOKOK from LW3, don't get it; doesn't make sense with the game at all, it's just noise
Master Luke, I suggest you... from DESW, stop telling me what to do; also it just plays forever, kinda like the ramp shot cue in CBW
You're a disaster, but I'm still the Ringmaster, from CV, more annoying phrases!

The electronic "knocker" is the worst, but a close second is

"GRAND SLAM FRANK THOMAS!".

It's the only callout for that event, and a good game gets 10-50 of them. In a row. Aaaargh.

Yes but it sucks so bad they are not allowed to disagree. The noise that came out of that box was so bad it made a $1500 B/W widebody unbearable. How bad is that?

I agree the Stern knocker sound needs to be improved for 2014.

I thought it's been previously debated here on Pinside Forum, and generally agreed upon and clarified that the old-school knocker sound is actually a "thwack!"

'DING' in WOZ and 'BOING' in Batman Forever.

See a patern here? They are all being repeated way too often (and in WOZ and BF it's probably that they're too loud and therefor stand out, instead of being a small background sound that goes with a target that's being hit very often).

When I first heard the Stern knocker, I actually thought something was wrong with the game. (Glitch or something) Of course, that was when I was really new to pinball.

But regardless, it's still a satisfying sound to get a couple times during a game. My only annoyance is playing a Stern at a community center or something. The fact that you start up a pinball in an already quiet environment is a little embarrassing. But hey...no one has said anything yet.
