Man this thing is insane. I have to see if I can fit this in my house.
That's the town I grew up in until I was 10. Does anyone remember the original arcade that was downtown 30 years ago? I'm thinking it was also called Starport or Starcade. It had a spaceport feel to it. I'm thinking there was also an arcde at the Mountaineer mall, but my memory is hazy.
I had a lot of fond memories of sneaking out of the house and taking the tower's prt station downtown.
Kudos to you for keeping the arcade dream alive!
It was an old friend of mine, Rusty. He owned spaceport when I was a kid on High Street where Joe's is now. I spent a lot of time there when my dad was on his route headed south.
We named it Starport to pay homage to the old but also creating a new.
I still talk to Rusty. Hes a great guy and has a lot of history in coin op!
Thanks for the post. Brought back memories as a child.
Cheers!

Don't know exactly how old you are, Javaman, but the other great place to play in Morgantown back in MY day was The Wharf Rat out at the Morgantown end of the Star City Bridge. This would have been 1977-1982 era. Great line up of machines, pool table and beer. As for the Mountaineer Mall arcade location, I can't quite remember it, although I know they had one. Middletown Mall in Fairmont is where I honed my pinball skills on Centigrade 37, Wizard, Captain Fantastic, Evel Knievel and Spinout. Fairmont State College had Playboy and Bobby Orr and College Lunch had Harlem Globetrotters. This was a great area for games back in that era! Message CJM on here whenever you are in town and drinks will be on him...
This is why I do what I do. Got to have a wonderful conversation with a mother today and I am so proud to see learning incorporated in the fun we provide at Starport! I have 2 girls and values are important. This is a small piece of what we do for the community but I am so proud to help provide a creative way for kids to enjoy education.

Slightly less than 10k sqft total. I don't know how large the game room floor is
Sidney Crosby and Randy. What a great match. Starport made its way into the Pens locker room!

i'm so glad you bumped this thread. When i was a kid in the 80's my dad traveled to morgantown at least twice a year for work. the old arcade on high street made me get so excited i'd beg him to go every time. To this day because of that arcade (and later the nyabhinghi/pleasant street) morgantown seems like a magical place that is always fun. I'll be visiting cumberland soon i'm going to have make the trip to check out this bar.

Isn’t that the same one they showed at CES? Did you get a discount since it was used at a show?
