How about Furries. lol
Quoted from gdonovan:How about Furries. lol
We get a lot of furries at the local Rennaisance Faire. LOL.
I love how people dressed like Star Trek or such show up at those faires, claiming to be time travellers!
I request people screenshot the ebay and other other ads instead of provide links. That's the only way to see them long term.
Yes, the Big Bang Theory has had quite the permanent impact on people! That episode in particular was hilarious!

For what it's worth, the "Star Trek people at a Ren Fair" premise predates Big Bang Theory by a long long time.

On Mac it's shift-cmd-4 to draw a box of what you want to capture. On PC I like to use Snipping Tool. I use it all the time at work.
I’ve never been to one of those! I believe you though! I only know it from “Sheldon”.

So I have been attending Renn Faires for decades. I have been working the MD on for 5 years. You see many different genres of people and costumes. Some are Medieval. Some are Biker/Goth/Punk/Viking/Pirates all at once. Some are furries, but travel in packs. Some are wenches with corsets and boobies hanging out, even though most are way older. Then the Steam Punk era ones are interesting. We also get many Star Wars Storm troopers, mandolorian and Darth Vaders, especially on the last weekend known as the day of Wrong.

It's been awhile since I was at a Ren Faire - I never saw any but Ren / Viking / Pirate / Fae - but it's all fun. I hit the ComicCons, and the cosplayers there are an awesome lot. We get a bunch of steampunk there, rarely ever Ren costumes.

I think we should text asking if it is still available and offer a price.

Saw mentions of this dude on the STL pinball facebook group - evidently they're mostly reimports.

The number of people who respond to ads on Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace and then <crickets> when I get back to them is huge. I can't blame someone for being grumpy on that front.

That was my impression - they have just been unloaded.

A little warning would have been nice first. I opened the link at work : (
Never mind the crazy huge price. The ad says "I'm hoping no one buys it, because I like having it around."
Well, you will probably have it around, with a big fat lie like that.
Something about these games called restorations rubs me the wrong way. When so much of it is replaced it approaches a scratch build. I'm sure it plays nice, but in no way would this have the feel of the original game. I like at least a little authenticity.

I guess it hinges on what you mean by "feel of the original game". Original 45 years old in good shape, or original just rolled off the line? An original with some wear on it plays a lot easier than one with a clear coated playfield, upgraded flipper mechs, silicone bands, etc

I just can't see with all the upgrades, aftermarket etc... that it would play like an original off the line. Hard to say though, since I would need to compare a factory NIB to the refurbished unit side-by-side. I'm not saying one is bad compared to the other - just that the feel must be different.

Can we at least copy/paste the text for posterity, if not a screenshot?

Gottlieb's Sing Along Pinball Machine
Powers on but needs to be serviced. Right flipper does not work. Asking $2500 but open to other offers. Text or email for more information.

Sad, this is not the laugh it would have been not that long ago. It actually looks in pretty nice shape, PF- and BG-wise.

Very popular pin, I have had a few people reach out to see if I wanted to sell my AAB version (Melody) and the answer is still no.
In good condition they are premium priced.

Ah ha ha. FB link not working for me, but they have a CL ad as well.
Some ultimate "No, I don't think I like your retheme" action:

Is it worth it at that price? I am close to Denver and does not seem *that* bad at the price. But a bit too new to know if it is a good price or if the inflated prices of the past few years are finally getting to my judgment.
$800 is a great price for a nicely working paragon, regardless of the retheme.
Buy it, play it, enjoy it. If you can have it restored for another 1,000 +/-, you'll be in the ballpark for cost meeting value.

For a $1000 I want your restoration guy.
A Paragon playfield is $995 from CPR before shipping. Plastics are $160. Back glass is $270. Cabinet stencils are another $200. Add in paint and supplies, some kits for flipper rebuilds, new coil sleeves, new posts and rubbers, LED bulbs, etc. etc. etc You'll probably be around $2000-$2500 in restoration costs by the time everything is finished, if you do all the work yourself.

Agreed.
Sadly by the time I reached out I was 3rd in line. He also posted it here on Pinside as well so it got a lot of attention I bet.

If I could own a beautifully restored Paragon, I’d be MORE than willing to absorb those expenses! I’m a Bally nut, and own five (‘78-‘81) beauties, so I’d be a little more motivated to dive into a project like this.
