As someone who practically lived in arcades in the late 70s/early 80s, I certainly missed all the organized crime driven drugs and prostitution
The law was against coin operated machines where alcohol was served. Of course government run VLT's were the only exception because they don't entice users into prostitution and drugs (alcohol is not a drug according to governments everywhere). I'm glad to see that this nonsense is finally coming to an end in Montreal and I wish North Star good luck in their endeavours.

before that was the bingo games that where gaming machines (legal in a few areas) also in the 80's / 90's bars had the cherry master games.
In WI you can't have any kind of cash payout with pinball but bars can have the cherry master type games.
