Starting to get back in the groove around here.
This Monster Bash is coming together/ closing out this week.Probably a pretty interesting project to take a look at given some of the circumstances and popularity of restoring these. The mods etc are customer based but the core of the restoration is universal.

Don't you mean "glad to see your back!"?

#7 6 years ago

I'm hoping that someday I can send some pins and get them done. Pipe dream for now, but it sure is a nice thought.

#8 6 years ago

Funny I was just checking this out on your web site earlier today.

#9 6 years ago

Looks like a fun project Chris. I wish I had one of those to restore right now.

so that is why i said

referencing "his groove."

either way it means the same thing.

Is that a repro playfield you installed?

Yes it is.First run so I did not have to reroute the lagoon window cut out like you do on the second run but still had to bevel the mosh pit hole, widen the shooter lane and counter sink the drac mech bolt holes.
Just finished updating it again.Should close out today.

Who did the repro?

#25 6 years ago

Dang, HEP. Seeing your resto's make me want to quit my job and just apprentice with you for the next 5 years.

IPB.The only people to make them so far. They have done two runs of it.The first and second are about the same less a color difference on the right side around the drac coffin and ball entry ramp .The more troubling difference in the second run is that the lagoon window recess is too shallow and slightly off shape so neither the factory nor Pinbits repro designated window will fit without modification to the playfield itself.
This link is now finished and the next move for it will be the final pics album. Then onto something else.

Well, it almost isn't! New playfied and new cabinet!

It's like restoring a car where you have to replace the engine, transmission, suspension, and brakes. Sure you're able to save and reuse a lot, but there are some pretty "key" components that are brand new.

Still gorgeous, though!

#46 6 years ago

Look's real nice! Would you be interested in doing an EM Fireball somewhere down the road?

I was thinking the same thing, but I guess you are paying for the machine to be built right. He mentions a ton of wrong components that he either replaced or rebuilt. The knowledge of how these things should work and setting them up to work for a long time is the real benefit of this service.

I know I would most likely mess up a ton of aspects of the playfield

#48 6 years ago

This is where his experience comes into play. After dealing with the first couple mis-routed repro playfields, he knows exactly how to work around the problems on all future jobs involving that game. At least til the 3rd run of repros come out ...

#49 6 years ago

stunning as always Chris. your work is always amazing.

#50 6 years ago

Amazing work as usual Chris.

I aspire to do restorations close to that quality some day.
