Quoted from Damonator:

I agree - I see a range of 4k (player condition) to 10k (HEP) for the originals now with 5k being the average price as you stated.

That’s a joke.

You won’t see monster bash in any shape for $4K unless there’s a massive economic collapse across the board.

In which case we’ll all be eating each other and Pinball won’t really be a priority.

Where are you guys getting these fantasy low prices from? This did NOT happen on AFM. Average still around $6500 so I don’t see why you see rarer Monster Bash originals going for $4-5K.

Anybody want a no hassle sale on a monster bash at $5k? Give me a call deal will be done in 10 minutes.

Quoted from PtownPin:

If its truly HUO, and in mint condition I can see him getting $7K+ for the game. There's enough purists out there that would probably take that deal. What really hurts the value in my opinion is the classic version, which is priced at $6K.

I hate to quibble but it’s really $6800 for the cheapest remake - add tax/shipping and the color which nobody is going to not get.

Quoted from Only_Pinball:

MBr CE $6000
Ship $300
Color. $400
$6700 all in

So $6700.

That’s a lot more than the $6000 I keep seeing.

Quoted from chuckwurt:

I’m sure a distro would let you pick it up. You want a 6k MBr, I’m sure you can find one.

If you pick up you pay sales tax. That’s a lot, as much or more as shipping. also add $$ for color. (Nobody will not get color.)

There’s no $6k MBRs. Minimum is $6300 and you have to get color which every single buyer will do.

So $6700 like established already.

Not trying to be a pain in the ass but people need to stop throwing out $6k.

The real cost of cheapest MBR is $6700.

The real cost of cheapest AFMr is $6700.

Quoted from chuckwurt:

I don’t think operators care about color.
If you want a 6k MBr you can get one. Haha

Operators care about tax and shipping.

Minimum $6300.

I can do this all night

(Also I gotta say I’ve NEVER seen a remake on location that wasn’t color. Maybe you have. Probably a dozen is my sample size. Would the op at arcade legacy cheap out on the color?)

Quoted from Damonator:

Not a joke. Let’s take a typical find from an operators warehouse:
Decals wrinkled and lots of scratches/gouges on cabinet
Extensive drac track wear, scoop wear and maybe a little pop bumper wear
Sloppy mechs throughout due to wear
Flippers barely working if at all
Dmd burn in
Some board work needed
So, what you are saying is that a player who is only interested in playing the game will pay $6500 for this as opposed to a brand new MBr classic for $6300 shipped? Not a chance.
So, someone that does the board work, changes over the playfield, rebuilds the flippers and re-decals is going to have $1500 in parts and $1000 in labor. Are they going to pay $6500 and have $9000 in it (without the ColorDMD) vs paying $8300 for a MBrLE? Probably not.
That leaves us with the HEP crowd - a full $10k restore on top of the $6500 purchase price? I doubt it.
I just sold a chromed out, color dmd, modfather painted figures, silly old elf decal high end Keller restored MB for $9k - and that was *BEFORE* the MBr reveal. I honestly doubt I could get $9k now - there was just no interest.

Until you can find me a $4K monster bash it’s a joke.

You are dreaming bro.

All of the mystical “beater” MBs you are fantasizing about were bought and restored a decade ago. They don’t exist. Neither do any original monster bash at below 6K.

Prove me wrong. Silly hypothetical anectodes about operator warehouse finds that don’t exist doesn’t count.

Quoted from Damonator:

Sure they do - just maybe not where you live.
No worries though - you have your opinion, I have mine. All good man.

Your opinion is ridiculous and it’s not all good because you are talking out your ass.

Good day sir!!

Lol I knew he’d start on with the “not where you live” bullshit. Yeah ok. You live in a magical land of operators who don’t have the internet and are selling dozens of beater monster bash games for $4k. I’m just a country bumpkin who has been buying from operators for a decade and can’t possibly
Fathom the real truth of what’s going down behind the scenes. Sure thing buddy.

Quoted from arcademojo:

No color DMD in any of my games so yes there are still people out there that don't need color. Also you're forgetting operators. You remember those people? well they are still out there and they are not putting color in there games.

Sweet Christ.

Ok. WE - the people here - are NOT operators. And those who dabble are hobby / op types who WILL buy the Color. Everybody in this thread, if they bought MBR, would get color.

I don’t know why people here are obsessed with saying MBR can be bought for $6000. I think it’s to convince everybody with an original their game is worthless now?

THE REAL COST FOR HOBBYISTS OF MBR STARTS AT $6700.

Yeah You can pretend it’s $6,000 but just like magical cave of $4,000 operator monster beaters, it’s simply not true and does not reflect reality.

Quoted from bayoubilly70:

$4K Monster Bash beaters with wrinkled cab decals?
Bahahahaha... Those are over the place. I must not be networked enough.

Oh just not where YOU live man. You just aren't in the know and just don't understand pinball.

You see, there' are thousands of 75 year-old ops in the lowlands. They don't have the internet and think their old games are all worth $900.

All you need is a time machine to take you back to 2001. Because those ops are all dead now and their games long ago trashed or sold to collectors.

#83 5 years ago
Quoted from Damonator:

.
But that’s beside the point - we are talking the value of MB originals. If I came across a MB in the condition I described for $5k, it would be a pass for me and many others - but others might pay that.
.

And THIS is my point.

You, good sir, are the one arguing in absolutes. "Monster bash beaters are now worth $4,000."

No, they aren't. That's a GRAND exception. We are talking going rates, and judging by what happened with AFM post-remake, the going rates for any decent Monster Bash original is STILL $6500. A beater IF YOU CAN FIND ONE (good luck with that) is maybe $5,000. When was the last time you saw an AFM in any condition publicly for sale for anywhere near $5,000? Exactly. So why are we supposed to believe MB will be any different?

The $4,000 monster bash isn't worth mentioning in this discussion, because for all intents, it doesn't exist. It's not readily available, and it doesn't affect general/market pricing. I just got a HUO TSPP for $3,000. I'd never bother mentioning that in a price discussion because it's completely irrelevant. Years ago I bought a CFTBL for $800 from an op, I wouldn't bother mentioning that either.

I appreciate that you think I'm smart, I'd like to think you are too. I'm pretty sure you understand exactly what I'm saying, and probably agree with it. Good luck on your future operator scavenge deals.

#85 5 years ago
Quoted from PtownPin:

The original implied topic was whether or not a undocumented, stock, HUO MB was worth the price of a NIB MBRLE ($8300)....although I readily agree that having an original MB thats actually HUO is probably pretty rare, and certainly has great value (although its hard to tell without seeing detailed pics as its all about condition). I just can't get my head around seeing $8300 value for this game when you get a brand new one with all the bells and whistles. I still think its a $6-7K game as there are people out there that only want the originals.

In my opinion a stock original mint HUO MB is still worth more than a top of the line remake.

I also think right now is probably the worst time to try to sell one.

Damn 4.5 is CRAZY.

Lol. Yeah. Maybe where YOU live.

Here I got a whole network of 80-year old ops selling old beat up MMs for 1500 bucks! Get with the times man!
