Just to get the ball rolling!

I'm ready and I have my order in for an MBr LE...just don't know what it's going to cost.

The only thing I have to show is my Key Ring...

My plan is to get an 13000-LE...what are others thinking?

13000-CE ("Monster Bash")
13000-LE ("Monster Bash")
13000-SE ("Monster Bash")

Easier games means you can set them up even steeper, harder, and more brutal and not be in for a marathon game and still have fun trying to complete it.

Yes for me (who is just an average player) increasing the opening on the outlanes and changing the game rules to extra hard usually adds enough challenge for me.

These 2 posts were made nearly 2 weeks ago and there was no reveal at California Extreme 2018, I'm hoping we don't have to wait until the show in Dixon in October!

Quoted from Pinball_Syd:

If you had a choice between and original for the sake of having an original which cost a bit less or spending the amount same coin or a bit more for an NIB standard, what would you go for?

There is a lot less risk when you purchase an MBr instead of an MB, simply due to it being new vs. what someone's description of their "almost new" game is.

If someone has a restored MB, it must have had some play on it, or they wouldn't have restored it or had it restored, so it would play like new. So there is that issue of differed maintenance...maintenance that will need to be done (eventually).

With a used machine (unless you know the machine or can go thoroughly inspect it) you really don't have much of an idea of how much "differed time" there has been.

Also, even if the machine looks great, what was the condition before it was rebuilt or restored and to what level was the restoration.

For me, I have no desire to have an original, just because it's original. I would rather have a game that is in great shape and will be for the foreseeable future.

Well, the next pinball gathering is going to be...

Just to keep people up to date, this was Doug's post Just before Christmas last year:
We will unveil Pin #3 at the Texas Pinball Festival in March. From your friends at CGC, we wish you all a great holiday season with your families.
Regards, Doug Skor

So I will guess that since the unveiling didn't happen at TPF, it will happen here...in still in Texas:

#113 3 years ago

This game availability delay is getting to be pretty strange...seems like something got forgotten and now CGC is scrambling to recover.

It’s essentially the same game, with a topper & color display.

It has to be some issue with the topper.

I can't see CGC buying parts for a 1000 games without getting some kind of approval from the rights holders. Can't see them stupid enough to go ahead without knowing that the game is approved.

The time delay, being this long, is odd.

#117 3 years ago

I read in a thread that someone thinks the holdup might be due to George Gomez's mechs...and Stern is making them redesign them.

I find that interesting, but doubt it:

1. The mech's probably were patented, and

2. Any patents would have run out long ago.

#181 3 years ago

After looking at the options, I'm still leaning for an LE...though for the money, the SE looks great.

$7999 LE, $7299 SE, and $5999 CE...plus about $300 shipping.

#193 3 years ago
Quoted from Budman:

For me, shaker would be the only thing I would add to a SE . Does anyone know the cost and if it is an easy install ?

It's very easy, everything needed should be there for the hookup...inserts, wiring harness. You may have to supply the attaching hardware (bolts) though...but it will be nothing special.

I know that MB is not the most difficult game to get to the wizard mode. But you can't get there every time you play, at least I can't, so I find it a fun game to play.

I'm looking forward to getting it set up and then having the grand-kids over to play it. Hopefully they will find it fun enough to get them playing a game or two for more than 5 minutes which is their usual MO.

I've had a lot of games that I thought that they would like and play...so far NBA Fastbreak, Slugfest and NGG hold the record for the number of plays before they get bored...with Hook and Revenge From Mars coming up next.

So for me, fun is a more important attribute than depth/difficulty. I'm hoping that MBr is that for the grand-kids too.

Other than the bling items, the only difference between the LE & the SE is the shaker.

Quoted from cscmtp:

Serious question, is there any reason to believe I can't get an LE say by Feb or March of next year? And if the LE's actually do sell out that fast, wouldn't there be plenty of SE versions at that time?

Only the LE's are limited in manufacturing quantity at 1250, which is a lot. But there is no reason to believe that they will actually make all 1250 (now), if demand doesn't warrant it.

The 1250 LE number is also a lot, due to the CE's & SE's versions being made with no limit to their production noted at present.

CGC currently has a number of parts that will take them thru their current production plan, and I have no idea what that number is. It maybe something like 2000 (a guess) units, in a combination of LE, SE & CE machines. They will have a sales projection based on MMr & AFMr sales history and pre-orders from their dealers and that first batch of parts number will be based on that.

As sales start to reach that XXXX number, then they will order another batch of parts. I would surmise that production batches would be on the order of 250 units combined, with the breakout of each based on the first batch mix.

I'm sure that there is a practical limit to SE & CE production, as in they won't run out and then make 25 more, then 15 more, etc. When orders start to diminish, whatever block they are currently making will probably be the end of production.

Anyway, I believe that there will be MBr's available for quite awhile, in every configuration.

Quoted from arcadem:

No reason to wait and risk not getting my serial number and a NIB game.

According to my dealer, the owner serial number thing is still in effect.

Not sure how long one has to order and still get their number, but the lower numbers would be most vulnerable.

My dealer says that it will be a little while before the LE's are shipped.

Apparently the plan is for CGC to make 150 SE's, then make some LE's, then the CE's & more SE's.

He said that they can make 15 units a day...and he's not sure when the first will start rolling off the line. Someone from Chicago should go see what's up, if possible.

The first LE's made will be the number matching LE's, thankfully I have #34 so mine should be in the first batch made.

He thinks that they may make all the number matching units first, so they don't give out a number to someone else first. Maybe the first run of LE's will just be number matching units, then on to CE's and SE's...then back to LE's.

A lot of speculation at this point. If anyone has any other or better info, please post it.

#260 2 years ago
Quoted from Bublehead:

“That’s not what the going price says, it’s still commanding $10k for a mint machine.”

Yes, but would that mean there are another bunch of people that they think will buy a TAF.

With that BOM, it would either be an expensive machine or they would have to sell a lot of them to get benefits of scale.

I guess anything can happen, but they made 20K of them already...must be a lot still in existence.

Anyway, back to MBr...

#261 2 years ago

#267 2 years ago
Quoted from arcademojo:

It's all about supply and demand. 20K means nothing if you have 25K people that want one.

Yea, I got that.

It just seems that it would be expensive to make, so the price would approach maybe $9k...but I see guys spending that on JJP games so maybe $9k is the new $6k.

I'm paying around $8.3k for a MBrLE...so maybe $9 or 9.5k is still viable.

I heard that my dealer is out of LE's too.

I had a verbal order in to him 4 months ago though, so I had no issues.

I think that the first allocation of LE's may be close to selling out, but not the entire 1250#.

My guess is that the dealers are calling CGC and asking for another allocation. That allocation is probably after the SE run, then the first LE run, the next SE and CE run...then the LE run #2.

So if you don't get in on the first LE run, you probably won't get an LE until January.

I just checked in Pinside Market, and there are 2 vendors that say they have LE's to sell.

whats the latest shipping estimate for LEs?

The LE's come after the 150 SE's are made. Production rate is up to 15 per day, so 10 - 15 days to get the SE's done, then the LE's start.

I have number 34, so ~3 weeks after LE's start I should get mine shipped.

So probably a mid-December delivery for me.

But that's an estimate, no word from my distributor yet...and only $1000 down paid so far.

You might try re-seating sound connectors. On the MMr it is the speaker connector on the lower right of the controller board in the backbox.

Not sure where it is on the Mbr.

Also, 1 speaker could be defective. Does the sound seem worse from 1 side or the other? Moving the speaker around see, if the distortion follows.

Anyone know what this black bumper is for? It was in the package with the rest of the stuff.

The only issue I have found so far with my game is that the LHS side art graphic overlaps the front graphic a bit.

So when I put my hand on the LHS flipper button, I can feel the seam (the edge of the side art) which is starting to lift a bit.

Not sure what to do right now, I only have a couple of games on it, but in the longer run (100 games or so) the side graphic will start to peel and be an actual issue for me.

Quoted from CFoote:

How do you like the Classic? I am a old school hobbyist who wants to play the game like I played it in the arcade back in the day. Chris

The Classic is as close to the to game like you played in the arcade back in the (your) day as is possible.

#1520 2 years ago

Does anyone else have an issue with the side art where it interfaces with the coin door art work?

Mine has a overlap that is coming loose (at the LHS flipper button) and will probably start to peel soon.

Quoted from fattdirk:

Here's what keeps happening to mine. Do you guys have it set to higher than 6.5 degrees?

Mine is set up at about 6.7 degrees, got tired of crawling under the game to get it at exactly 6.5 degrees.

Game plays well with no issues, maybe 1 out of probably 20 scoop shots are ejected between the flippers. I haven't investigated any further, since it isn't chronic.

The LE is beautiful. My wife's granddaughter came over for 10 minutes yesterday and was mesmerized by the game. She was able to play 1 ball and wanted to stay and play it...which is amazing in itself. The only other game she talks about (out of all I have owned) is Slugfest.

Quoted from Ricochet:

but they don't look like the promo pics.

Yes, those were proto designs.

Like a lot of Williams games, the proto games had features or items that were removed due to cost in the production games.

The detail in the figures is probably similar.

#1658 2 years ago
Quoted from seenev:

Considering the added detail is a big feature they advertise between the CE and SE/LE, are there any comparison photos between the two versions?

The pictures I've seen posted here, seem to show all of the figures being identical..on all versions...see posts 703 & 722.

Hmmm, I got extra flipper rubbers but no key fob. Would rather have the fob.

I got a Fob with my game...but no game instruction card...the one that goes on the LHS of the apron. That spot was empty on my game.

Not complaining, but this is what happen when your game is one of the first out of the factory.

As of today...89 plays total; its a fun game!

I know that this probably doesn't affect too many people, but the my game was drop shipped from the manufacturer direct to me. My dealer is in Kentucky.

To those people getting machines from their dealers locally (picking them up), the dealer may be waiting to get 2, 3, 4 or more games shipped together from the manufacturer to save shipping costs.

That could be the reason some people aren't getting their games as fast as others.

The only other reason I can think of is that some dealers may have more pull, or signed up for X number of games first, or maybe paid something/more upfront.

#2014 2 years ago

The yellow "start" button flashes for awhile, then goes out.

This is happening after I updated the software. Before, I think, it flashed continually, as long as the game was turned on.

How does others operate?

Quoted from BrewskisBar:

Well today was a bummer....Guess it really is a good idea to always open the box!

My AFMr was damaged during shipment, I refused to accept it and CGC & my dealer made good without any hassles.

When the next AFMr was sent to me the topper was damaged. I kept that game and refused to accept the topper. Again, CGC & my dealer made good without any hassles.

While this is a bummer, I have no doubt that CGC will make good for you.

#2052 2 years ago
Quoted from PtownPin:

So if theres no visual damage to the box (or boxes if u include the topper) do you open the box and inspect before accepting?

That's always the safest route.

I look at the box and pallet and then make a judgement call. If the box is damaged then I open the box where the damage is and inspect further.

I have accepted games where the box and pallet look good without opening the box though.

#2053 2 years ago
Quoted from PtownPin:

If you look at the picture of the damaged game, you can see that the box was damaged, and I would have inspected that area (at least) before accepting.

I don’t ask for full payment until I think the game will be ready using info I’ve been given.

I hope that you don't think I was implying that you have been anything but an excellent dealer for me.

All of your payment requirements and game shipments were very close.

Thanks again for the fabulous service for getting my MMr, AFMr & MBr games.

I think you hit the nail on the head - if someone wants their money back, they can get it back no questions.

That's how I got my MMr...Larry (FLip N Out) gave someone their money back and then sold the position to me. I think I got the game about 1 month later.

#2095 2 years ago
Quoted from seenev:

Next batch? Does this mean they're stopping LE production for a while?

I have no info as to what is happening at the CGC plant, but it may be as simple as a parts supply issue. A part could be late or a batch of parts were made incorrectly.

The games are very similar, so moving from 1 version to another would be easy and would keep the production line moving.

It looks to me that the cabinets of the SE & CE are identical, the backboxes of the CE & LE are identical and the playfields of the CE & LE are identical (except for plasma disk).

So, if they are short some LE specific part, like a topper, lockdown bar, plasma disk, mirror blades, etc...they could switch to CE's. Or if LE playfields were short, they could switch to SE's.

Not saying that is what is happening, it could be just their plan to switch up to meet purchase order demands.

#2257 2 years ago
Quoted from LP30:

MBrLE heading back to Chicago. Refused delivery. Fork lift to the cabinet. So close, then ripped away.

The same thing happened to my AFMr.

#2258 2 years ago
Quoted from seenev:

What happens when CGC gets a game back like this? Do they just repackage it and send it to someone else?

This happened to my AFMr...CGC took it back no problem and replaced the cabinet and sent it back to me.

Didn't take too much time, maybe 2 weeks total from sending it back to receiving it back.

#2515 2 years ago
Quoted from Mogg:

Many distributors lay out "30-90 days for delivery, deposits are non refundable".

Why don't you call your distributor and find out?

Not sure why you would ask here, when each instance is probably different...distributor stock level, type of game (LE, CE, SE), game demand, etc.

But to try to shed some light on what you ask, it's PROBABLY refundable at any time IF the distributor can sell it to someone else.

#2531 2 years ago

I have read these posts about CGC's lack of communication on why the LE's are not shipping or that they are shipping in low quantities.

I have refrained from posting as I have my LE and have had it since December 20th.

While they (CGC) actually don't sell to us, the fact that the games are drop shipped from the factory makes the association easier.

The only info I have is from my distributor is that it's probably a playfield issue (unconfirmed by CGC) for the LE's that's causing the delay. And CGC is trying to make the best games possible, so they are holding up LE shipments.

If the playfields are really the issue, and if I didn't have my game, I'd be really glad that they aren't shipping some substandard part just to make some LE sales goal.

It would be great if CGC posted here, but in reality it should be a distributor that would give us the info, since we are their customer(s). And the distributor should be calling CGC to get the scoop for us. My distributor told me that he has only gotten 6 of his allotment to date...mine was the first the next 5 came last week. He's also had a few people cancel.

If I find out anything more about this, I'll post here.

Quoted from pintechev:

They are the same.

#2609 2 years ago
Quoted from ASOA:

Different levels of acceptance terminology should not be blown out of proportion. It's the backlash from pinside that makes some manufactures reluctant on making public announcements here in this forum.

I couldn't agree more.

While I asked CGC to comment here, it wasn't with trepidation, so I waited as long as I thought I could.

It is no wonder that manufacturers don't post here, and probably don't spend much time reading what is written on Pinside either.

I thank CGC for posting their explanation for the slower shipments of LE's than originally anticipated...which is what some were grumbling about.

Now that you know that reason, you have something else to agonize about, playfield grading and selective usage.

I realize that some LE people got caught in the unfortunate area between Playfields are good, games will ship soon, send in your money & woops...Playfields aren't always perfect, so we have to hold up LE shipments.

I don't know how much info CGC gave to their distributors, and that's maybe where this could have been handled better by CGC. With a bit more info, the distributors could have contacted the few people that paid in full and their LE game was delayed.

Quoted from Mdanielb:

Have any of you guys that have split decals submitted a ticket to CGC regarding that issue?

While not like some of you are experiencing, I did have an issue with my decal. I never did submit a ticket at CGC.

The left edge of my side art was peeling back, about 1-inch below the lock down bar.

I posted here (post #1520) to see if anyone else had an issue.

I was contacted via PM by Doug Duba to which I PM'd him back.

A few hours later (on a Saturday late afternoon California time) Doug called me at home to discuss the issue. I explained and told him I had pushed the side art back down with the blunt edge of a razor blade and would let him know how that worked out. I also put on flipper button "half-moon" shaped plastic protectors. The protectors kept any hands from rubbing that area directly when playing a game.

Had several people play the game over Christmas and the decal stayed stuck. So I emailed Doug that I considered the issue solved and that I required no further assistance. He thanked me in an email reply.

So I can say that in my experience, CGC's customer service is great!

#2974 2 years ago
Quoted from Zablon:

Sounds like those spots need extra mylar put over them to prevent it from spreading? Or would that even help?

I considered that when I had my decal issue, but to date haven't done so.

I think that much of the damage "SIRLONZELOT" is seeing could have been mediated by installing mylar in that area.

That area of the cabinet, if the decal becomes separated and somewhat lifted, gets a lot of hands rubbing so any defect gets worse fast.

I put on flipper button "half-moon" shaped plastic protectors and that helped keep my hands away from the edge of the cabinet. I do wish that they extended back a bit more, all the way to the back edge of the cabinet. I may make a bigger set myself, to better protect that edge/interface.

If it's cabinet joint shifting that is causing the crack in the decal, then mylar won't stop the cracking, but I think will better keep the decal split from becoming lifted and then damaged further by hand movement.

If it happens to you new machine, I understand one's frustration.

I've had my game for almost 7 months now, got it a bit before Christmas, and it still plays great.

I've had no issues other than the early problem with one corner of a side decal lifting. I pushed it back down and put on a set of plexi protectors on the flipper buttons to keep my hands away from that seam. All is well since.

Glad to see that everyone is getting their machines, even those overseas!

My scoop has been sending the ball SDTM for awhile and I finally took a look at it.

I found this in the mechanism:

C4A6293F-3B40-4E2D-AA88-495FFD6126A5 (resized).jpeg

Since I don’t have a wave washer, I used a silicone o-ring (about 1-inch dia) to tighten up the scoop coil assembly:

The ball now hits the left flipper routinely.
