For those who also have a AFMr, is it the same/recommended to hook up an external sub (alligator clips to speaker) or not even needed. LE on order.

Quoted from Cyrus:I didn’t on my AFM SE because I didn’t think it needed it, but there are multiple schools of thought on sound and sound quality. It just was not something that was of interest to me.
I have a bunch of Polk subwoofers, so I thought it might add to the bass assuming I could just add the alligator clips similar to my Stern games.
I spoke with Sara at Planetary Pinball. There is some hope that non-matching numbers will ship prior to Christmas. I thought I would pass it along. Obviously, there are no guarantees.
Quoted from bigdaddy07:This is correct. If you want a matching number, this is the only way to do it. They are not going to build your matching number game ahead of everyone else and then wait for you to pay while it sits. If you are not matching number, then wait until they have stock built out and then buy to avoid the 2 weeks paid with no game.
Can someone please explain this matching number desire? I get limited edition (1 of XXX) built, but why do people care that the numbers match? The machines are not really related to each other. I get it more with match board sets on WMS/Bally machines. Is it just a why not if offered kind of thing? No judging, just trying to understand it. Maybe a collector could explain.
Quoted from MrSanRamon:The best reason to get a matching number is that those are built first.
Other reason...bragging rights.
Robert
Not sure I understand this part. I get them coming off the line quicker. They are really not the (e.g. 235) one built if they are just putting that tag on it no matter when it is made. It would be better/more serendipitous it would seem if you got one as a coincidence not just for matching purposes.
My non-matching LE is shipping out on Monday. The wait is almost over! I should get shipping info on Tuesday.
Yes. I ordered through PPS based on the likelihood of them getting more of them and the refundable deposit. Sara is also great.
Quoted from Tradesman:Non matching #1162 delivered today along with a cracked right side decal. Thought they were not wrapping these anymore. Hard to believe this is one that was made before they said they quite wrapping them as it was drop shipped direct from CGC. I'm sure they they are shipping them out as soon as they are built.
Very disappointing! My AFMRLE and MMR does not have this problem.

Now I am worried... I thought the wrapped ones all went out too.
Non-Matching #858 has arrived! It has a manufacturer date of 2/21/19. It was shipped FEDEX freight. No issues. The shipping box was perfect. The wooden topper box starting to come apart at the staples when moving it, so be careful. It still has the decals wrapped on front corners, but so far no cracking. I thought that was changed earlier? Small scuff above the right front leg (maybe from the packing material), but everything else on a quick glance looks great! Really beautiful machine. I did a quick test run and all seem well. Very exciting!
IMG_3295 (resized).jpegI am experiencing an intermittent phantom flip failure on the left side. The right side works every time. The left side only about 50% and then rest of the time it just drains. Thoughts? What triggers it? Rollover switch or Opto?
Quoted from LTG:Flipper button opto board.
Swap left and right see if problem moves. Interrupter might not be going far enough to trigger flipper.
LTG : )
Swapped flipper opto boards. Same issue. Left side will fail occasionally. Right side no failures.
Quoted from LTG:I'd reflow the solder on the coil lugs next. Make sure no cracks or breaks of the thin wire from coil to lug.
Slao I'd follow the EOS wires to the board they plug onto and reseat them a couple times and clean the EOS.
LTG : )
Reset the cable. There does not appear to be any breaks in they tiny wires. The game only has about 20 plays, so I doubt EOS needs to be cleaned. It still fails on occasion. Are you sure it is not the roll-over switch or opto in the lane? If one of those switches does not go off, it might not know the ball is there. Hate to reflow anything on a brand new game.
Quoted from LTG:Unless they have film or oil from manufacturing process. Check adjustment of the leaf blades too, from the working one. See if anything is different.
LTG : )
Cleaned it. Looks fine and the same as the right side. I am pretty sure it is the roll-over switch. When that switch registers, the phantom flip lamp goes off and it works. When it fails, the lamp stays on and no flip.
Quoted from Higloss67:What’s weird is that I have the same left side problem. Also had an MMr and the left inlane switch was intermittent like that. Sometimes it would register sometimes not. Swapped right and left switches same thing. Replaced the left switch, still had problems with it not registering 100% of the time.
It appears to have been the physical switch as I suspected. I bent it so it sticks more above the playfield and that seems to have fixed the issue. I need to do more play testing to be sure. I pretty sure it was just not registering depending on how the ball went down the inlane.
