Quoted from indypinhead:

How are people getting on the LE list when the machines aren't officially for sale yet?

My GUESS is that they are getting the request into their preferred distributor and getting on a 'list'. Based on their number in line, and how many LE's each distributor is allocated (or order) they HOPE to get an LE?

Quoted from Pinball_Syd:

If you had a choice between and original for the sake of having an original which cost a bit less or spending the amount same coin or a bit more for an NIB standard, what would you go for?

Hard to say without seeing MBr. But for me, based on 'r' track history (and the fact the seem thrilled to show us what they have done as soon as they can), I will buy MBr over the original.

Truth is, I decided I would get one pinball machine for home. My list (in order was). #1 MB, #2 TRON LE, #3 The Hobbit. I guess those are odd choices, but hey they are my favs. The issue? My budget was 10K and two of those (in excellent condition) were more than 10K. Heck three years ago TRON LE was around 11 to 13K and MB was pretty close to that. So I got the one that was in my budget. A 'cheap' NIB hobbit for 8K LOL

No, and I don’t see anything on CGC either. Perhaps Zach pulled the trigger a little early.

Maybe a tad early, but I expect distributors know pricing and can accept orders. They just can't advertise them yet?

Quoted from PtownPin:

If MBRLE is anything like AFMRLE they will be available for a long time...like well over a year....

IF it is like AFMrLE ....

My 'guess' is that MBrLE will sell out quicker that AFMrLE

Any owner unboxing vids on youtube of the LE yet? I would love to see any vids (unboxing, playing, or just panning around the PF/cab).

Thanks!

8 months?! Shoot, that’s a brief nap compared to wait on the MMRLE!

I waited over 2 years for hobbit

Quoted from cscmtp:

Talk about a letdown huh? This pin on the other hand is actually fun and beautiful (Hobbit is beautiful...and that's it)

No. I love the pin. So much so I would like to get something else but I can't seem to let it go yet. Absolutely great pin. I am struggling with selling it and adding cash to get the MBr LE - that is why I am lurking in this thread. But I just can't pull the trigger on it it yet. I still get a rush playing the wizard modes and trying to kill Smaug. Thanks for asking though.

Quoted from robotron:

this hobby will eat you up if you treat these pins like pokemon and want to catch them all. you have a pin you are happy with so keep it until its time to trade or sell off for another. good thing is that you can play them for a year and get back 80-90 percent of your money back and move on to the next one. i found when i had too many pins i would lose focus on playing and just worrying about getting the next one.

Good advise. Yeah I plan on having only 1 pin for the next few years. Then I'll probably have two, and then the flood gates will open and three won't be far behind...

But enough about hobbit and my circumstances - let's see some more unboxing and in home play vids

Quoted from sprite:

Got my MBR LE today and I have no idea how this thing passed QC. It has a February 20th production date. This is my first Chicago Gaming pin and I'm very disappointed.
1. The blue gradient part of playfield has dark blue ink splotches all over it.
2. Left mouth wash missing part of 'M'. Edit: I looked at some other pictures posted, so I suppose this might be on all of them.
3. Right mouth wash, wash is covered by a big black ink splotch. This is the issue that bothers me the most as it's immediately noticeable.
4. The head has a ton of glue popping out of it.
5. Red paint drop between Drac insert and target. This one doesn't photograph well but much clearer in person.
I have not completely looked over the pin yet, this was just things that immediately popped out at me.
If this is how the LE playfields that are supposed to be the best quality are arriving I can only imagine what non LE play fields must be like. Did anyone else receive one with similar issues?

I would expect a PF that is mint condition if I bought an LE NIB. Not gonna lie I would be a bit pissed off if mine came that way.

Quoted from zpinman370:

I know dimples are part of pinball however after only 45 games I am already seeing a noticeable area around Frank. I dialed down my flipper strength from default to -4 to try and stop the air balls. I have to say the clear coat is not as good as I expected from CGC being this is an LE and they were supposed by a bit above par. I put brand new silver jets in the machine from new and I did notice that the balls have nicks and scratches in them already so not sure where that is coming from at this low a number of plays. Have swapped them out and installed another new set. I did notice the scoop has a couple of rivets in there so is it possible they are damaging the balls upon entry and exit? This is a problem that if the chrome balls are being damaged could chew up the playfield in short order. Is anyone else having the same issue as that is actually more concerning than the dimples for me? I love the game but am almost afraid to play it in fear of really messing up the playfield. Recommendations appreciated.
[quoted image]

It won't help the dimpling - that is normal for any new pinball machine. However, I think a good initial waxing is a good idea. And doing every several months if you are playing the game with regularity will help keep that awesome PF looking and shooting nice!

Not an owner yet but want to be. Quick question: are all the LEs sold out? I may get the SE but love the blue trim a lot

#4831 5 years ago

Ok. I guess I will go there....but, for those that want to cut down on the dimpling is there a PF protector for MR(r)?

#4833 5 years ago

I understand dimpling happens. I had a protector on my hobbit for 2 years and then took it off. It was a pristine playfield underneath - but I didn't like the way it plays so I took it off and the dimpling started occurring. I prefer no PF protector myself and live with the inevitable dimpling. But for those that can't the PF protectors work VERY well for that. I know this from first hand experience.

#4836 5 years ago
Quoted from gambit3113:

It prevents dimpling, yet affects play so much that it’s intolerable?

Yes, plus it begins to cloud over time. Dulls the PF lighting and the PF art. Once I removed it the machine would shine brightly and showed off the art. I just wax it and let it dimple (like most).

Sounds like you are a big fan of PF protectors - have you used them before and/or recommend them?

Quoted from JOESCHALL:

Has anyone else discovered the flipper-activated easter egg in the MBR code to reveal the new ruleset that goes way beyond the original? The bummer is that it only works on LEs, and it's only relevant one day a year. It was very clever of CGC to program in this "April Fool's Madness." To those lucky LE owners and easter egg adventurers, enjoy!

Any videos posted of it?

#4859 5 years ago
Quoted from PAPinballer:

Yikes! As much as I hate to see dimpling on a PF I understand that they are inevitable, but what the heck are these circled in red? They can't be cracks in the clear or paint? Although they don't show up in your first picture...
[quoted image][quoted image]

those do tend to worry me the most - as dimples will even out - but smearing the PF is odd to me.

#4866 5 years ago
Quoted from Bublehead:

Ok, let me qualify that statement, I got confirmation of intent to ship by my distributor... The original was an April fools joke, but then my phone went off... what are the chances?!?

Are you sure it ISN'T an April Fools joke?! Can't be, that's too cruel ....

Picking up my MBrSE at MGC this weekend! Should I pick up a shaker for it? Thx

I am thinking about getting the SE as well - and I plan on getting the shaker as well.

Quoted from Bublehead:

I am keeping my fingers crossed for all other owners still waiting because the wait WAS worth it, this thing is phukin gorgeous. And I have only molested her- wait, no, I meant “admired” her while still in her nightgown- wait, I meant to say while I was reaching into her box- no, wait, now that sounds even worse... um, I was a little star struck, being in the presense of my pinball crush of the last 20 some odd years, I guess you could say I was a little stiff, no wait, I was a little engorged... no, wait, um I was a little swelled with... uh, no even worse... um, I was pumped up... uh, no, sounds too pervy, wait, uh jacked off, no, not off, uh um... jacked up, yeah, yeah jacked up from all the excitement that when I came next- well not came, but when I got next to her, and I felt something stir in my pants- wait, um that should be felt something stir in my pants pocket, which when I reached in my pocket and cupped my balls- uh, my pinballs that is, I felt the sticky goo of the creamy Twinkie I had left in there with them and figured it was time to give the Twinkie and balls a good washing and put them in her trough. Wow, I am spent... I mean I have spent a lot getting her home today. Anyone got a cigarette?

Kind of went a little sideways after the first sentence - but entertaining at least.
