Quoted from Bublehead:

Yeah. Sucks doesn’t it?, so do failed right ramps coming back SDTM, or failed Frank shots heading for STDM or catch the back of a phantom flip target and head toward right outlane, or failed left ramps coming SDTM or just catching the sling and then SDTM... or... all the shots in MB are risky. Not a single one is a gaurantee except the scoop, but hard in and outs do dumb things too. The orbits are safer, but not off Drac’s feet. Reason I love MB... hit it or shit it. There is no try.

Or failed mosh pit spinner shots coming back sdtm...(you may have mentioned that one). Lots of risky shots in MB. They seem easy enough, and they are when you are feeling it. If you are off just a bit, the monsters will get you.

I don’t know why I didn’t think to adjust the right legs a bit to stop Drac soccer. Mine hits Drac just slightly about 60% of the time and often with deadly results. But I kinda hate the idea of having a slight right-left tilt. But might be only easy solution.

Quoted from BryanBPH:

1 - I know there have been a lot of posts/suggestions around the STDM shots out of the scoop - Was there a general consensus on what seems to work? I've seen a variety of suggestions from adding a washer to the solenoid, putting some duct tape in the scoop, changing power settings, etc. I'm still having the issue, but before I decided to try something, I was hoping to hear what seems to work most consistently allowing it to fire it to the left flipper as it should.
2 - Same question regarding STDM rolls from the upper playfield that are hitting dracs feet on the way down. Seems to be happening a fair amount on my game. Just hoping to get an updated solution from those that have fixed this as well?
Otherwise I love my game - I have an LE and after a hundred or so games, I'm seeing some dimpling, but frankly (pun intended), it doesn't bother me. Sure it was a lot of money to spend, but I bought the game to play it and expect it to show some battle scars over time. I think the quality of this game is OUTSTANDING, and despite the long delay, I'd buy another game from them.
PS - The game even looks cool when it's turned off in my game room that has black lights
[quoted image]

For the SDTM from scoop problem: add a spring washer to the scoop solenoid and turn power setting to max on right popper

For right outlane drain from left ramp: close right outlane post distance so it bounces off instead of draining

Quoted from PinballCoug:

1- my scoop STDM is going on 2 1/2 months and still not fixed. Guess Bublehead will get his MBr before my scoop is working!
2- I bent the ball guide out slightly and now even slow orbits miss Drac's feet. I first tried raising the right levelers, perhaps too much, but noticed it affected the ball path coming down the playfield.

I had the same problem with my Dialed In! cell phone scoop - kicked out and wasn’t coming out clean, probably too hard, and was going sdtm about half the time. I tinkered with the scoop physically (it had a tiny bit of play) and it helped. One frustrating reason I traded that pin. My MBr scoop just barely hits the tip of the left flipper on kickout. It’s definitely a clencher, but it stays in play, luckily. Just one of the deliciously sneaky hard features on this game.

#4904 5 years ago
Quoted from PinballCoug:

Yep, tried that second after playing with coil strength first. There was very little play on mine and I couldn't notice any difference after the adjustment.

I opened a support ticket because shots into the scoop were draining 1/3 of the time making the game unplayable. They said to loosen the 4 scoop screws and turn counter-clockwise and set the power to Max. First, my scoop has zero play so that is not an option. Second, I did try the Max option and that does seem to help a little as the ball is definitely draining less, but it still happens. Still waiting on a better fix.

My LE was manufactured end of February and delivered a few days later. Either I got lucky or they fixed some of the early complaints I see here. Specifically....

No more SDTM than any other machine
No stuck balls on ramp
Character detailing is good
Volume correct (very loud, actually)

Concerns that I do have:
Right flipper was loose when delivered. Shouldn't happen

Playfield is dimpling horribly

Unlike most machines which I leave standard, I closed down the outlanes some and set specials to EB for family/visitors to have a chance to experience more of its fun. It worked and the machine is a hit. I enjoy it too, but can have back-to-back games of 6 million and 1 billion... This game just sometimes ends balls quickly but that's pinball

Quoted from DaveKnowsAll:

Mine (LE) was Dec 31...no issues at all, so I'm guessing "lucky" both of us.
no issues with Drac feet..no sdtm scoop issues.. feeling I got very lucky, as this is being brought up all the time.

Now on my Munsters, I had to do a few adjustments...but, all is perfect now.

#4907 5 years ago
Quoted from SkaterVet:

The only other game play issue that is actually more problematic than the rare sdtm is the left ramp must be hit perfectly. If not, the ball makes it 25-45% up the ramp and it rolls back down. The right ramp on the other hand can be competed with a week and lazy back hand shot. I’d love to hear anyone’s fix for the left ramp issue.

That's just the game design... I remember it well from the original MB. The beauty is that if you hit the left ramp just right, you actually don't need to hit it very hard. I would view it as a design that adds challenge to finding that sweet spot as opposed to something to fix. Fortunately, a left ramp fail rarely drains. Unfortunately, phantom flip is horrible at making this shot.

I have been playing mine as it came from the factory, but will probably close the outlanes a bit, before my wife and kids get to frustrated with it and stop playing it. My biggest concern is turning the ball save on (I assume it has the adjustment, haven't checked yet). In my opinion this changes what the designer wanted the game to be, but friends and family will enjoy it more if it is turned on. Who here has turned the ball save on and for how long does it stay activated?

Also, the date on my CE is December 13th. I have had the SDTM from the scoop and drac feet, but no other issues at all. Balls look like new still and I have some dimpling, but nothing that concerns me.

#4909 5 years ago

Beacause of Drac’s feet, the ball save is a must IMO. I have it set to shortest time. Love the look of the game, but CGC really needs a viable solution to fix the scoop. Couple that with drac’s feet and the brutal outlanes make for a frustrating game. Hopefully I can get this thing dialed-in and playing like it was designed to be played.

#4910 5 years ago

On almost every MB I had played on site 20 years ago started with BS off, but eventually most operators turned it on, I guess to help earnings? If charging $2 for 3 plays, I would turn it on if I had it on site.

#4911 5 years ago

For those that posted that they only increased the right popper power setting to max with no change on scoop SDTM problems, YOU NEED TO ADD THE SPRING WASHER TO THE SOLENOID !!!! Throw away the duct taped shoe pieces and glued flipper rubbers, stop putting game off level, and stop bending the scoop.BUY A SPRING WASHER AND INSTALL IT LOL!! It takes 5 minutes, literally. I've played over 100 games since INSTALLING A SPRING WASHER, which means I've probably hit the scoop at least 500 times- every eject has gone to left flipper

Sorry I didn't mention that... I did turn the ball save on (3 or 5 seconds, can't remember ... 1 time only). I do this for all my ganes. I don't think the designer wanted balls that end in under 5 seconds, so I don't feel any guilt! On the other hand, changing specials to extra balls certainly does invalidate high scores, but allows kids/guests the thrill of earned longer play, which is huge.

On the other major topic here, my LE is 1006 of 1250. I know that they manufactured out of order, but I assume that was to prioritize matching SNs. Mine was not one of those, so I assume they are nearing the end of LE production.

Just so nobody’s going to get confused - the adjustment where the game is slightly higher on the right side is intended to address the issue with Drac’s feet, not the scoop... but maybe you could add a spring washer to him too?

I am 1027 and my friend is in low 1100’s and we are getting both shipped today. So either they have cranked up the oopahloompah gruel and worked them overtime, or figured out their issues, because they are moving again. Don’t know where they are in delivery, but there are a lot of machines yet to ship, I think.

Spring Washer= .50id x .875od Found a pic on Marco, attached, but you could probably get at your local hardware store.

I installed mine at bottom of coil, but it probably doesn't matter which end. Once you lift playfield, grab that coil and start wiggling it. You'll see that there's a ton of slop. The spring washer will eliminate that.

Just for the record, before adding it, 1 in 4 eject were going SDTM, drove me nuts

Thanks for the tip!

If anyone else is having the ball get stuck behind the CFTBL saucer I finally figured that it was actually the metal plate directly above the saucer that the plastic with the lights is attached to that was causing my issues, I slightly bent it up added a target pad to the area behind as well and the issue appears to be completely resolved.

Additionally I was getting some left ramp rejects, noticed the ramp and wire-form didn't seem to meet up perfectly so really hard ramp shots had a chance to be rejected by hitting the edge of the wire-form at their meeting point, bent that slightly towards the center of the playfield and now the shot is much easier to hit.

Considering selling my AFMrLE to buy MBr - just to change things up a bit. Hmmmmmmmm

#4922 5 years ago

Ok, since my MBrLE is shipping today, I posted my last MBrLE wait lament in the thread below. I am posting the link for brevity and to save you some thumb scrolls. There is another unlinked lament and funny story in there to read too at post #24. Enjoy. BH

#4923 5 years ago

Got word from Joe @ PinballStar that my MBrLE will be shipping in the next few days.

I have both. In my opinion, afmrle is a better game than Mbrle.

Got the notice today that mine is shipping out as well. The factory is humming again!

#4929 5 years ago

Bubble better have a big post for his unboxing. Most of us in this thread and invested on your game now by this point and would love to see some good pics when its all set up!

I’m still waiting. Called my distributor today who said he’d call me back.

About that... heavy sigh... Ok, I have a logistics snafu... you see, I am not the only person in this “first NIB” boat, although we have surfed the tides of a New out of Box pin with FGy, this is truly our first NIB experience for me and my wife. Well, you see, she travels for her job, and currently her schedule has her out of town when this is due to get here, and will be out of town for at least another week and 3 days from today. So this baby, other than a cursory opening of the box flaps to inspect for major damage, will sit, NIB until she gets home a week from Friday. Now depending on how long a trip it is from Chicago to Phoenix, it will sit here waiting at least until Friday before I can post anything, and then probably only the pics and a quick video.

But before I close I want to have a moment of silence while I say a small prayer to the shipping gods...

Oh dear Sweet Mother of Holy Freight Carriers everywhere, in your name we pray, please deliver my wretched machine of idleness safely to my doorstep, and please keep safe from all temptation my delivery driver, that he may make his way safely from Chicago to Phoenix and not be swayed by the forbidden fruits of the truck stop trollops, the unholy gambling casinos, and those wretched pits of Satan known as Howard Johnsons on his way to deliver my precious.... cargo. Amen.

Lol well whenever you are able to get the game out to enjoy the beauty please give us something. We all have been rooting for you seriously. Even the fellas that were downvoting you.

Bublehead - Just FaceTime your wife while unboxing. Problem solved!

Bublehead - Just FaceTime your wife while unboxing. Problem solved!

I have not mark twain the depths of her required involvement, but I am pretty sure, if MBrLE is sitting NIB in the house, there is the slight chance she will capitulate and resign herself to the facts that me and it are here, she is there, and no force known to God or mother nature is going to stop me from the temptation to look beyond the flaps of cardboard, grab the closest sharp edged implement at my disposal, de-box the bastard and have it up and running as fast as I can unscrew and reinstall 8 leg bolts, and 4 balls. At least I am hoping she capitulates and resigns herself... otherwise I may be doghouse bound in a few days. But at least you guys will get the unboxing pics and video

#4936 5 years ago

On an unrelated note, the South Park machine we bought at TPF arrives this afternoon, so I have plenty to do while I wait on MBrLE to arrive. I am picking my MB up at the carrier dock, one less chance for them to fork it or drop it off a lift, plus I get it sooner!

#4937 5 years ago

The topper for the LE may be the most safely crated item I have ever received. In fact, I think the presence of this wood box on top of the pallet and frame for the machine helped make the whole thing less likely to be damaged. Enjoy!

OK Bubble -- if you plan this out it can be pulled off. Do not cut the sides of the box. Lay it down and carefully slide out the game onto a moving blanket or cardboard. Assemble -- but take lots of pictures how it was packed. Set aside the crate with the topper and do not open. Once fully documented how everything was in the box set up your long awaited treasure and play the shit out of it. The day before wife's return carefully disassemble and repack per your pics.

You've gotten your long awaited fix and wife can enjoy the official "unboxing" event with you. DECISION TO MAKE -- before taking apart game you may want to reset game played meter to 0 and reset all high scores with the "DAD' initials so there is no evidence. Otherwise you will be like this dumbass in that annoying Jaguar commercial who gives his wife a new car and she bitches about the miles he put on it

Unless she's going to help with the heavy lifting, I say just set it up so it's ready when she gets home. If she really loved you she'd know you are anxious. Has she read your posts here? You are on the brink of a breakdown and NEED this game

You HAVE to open it up. Who knows if there's even a pinball table in there? Maybe it's bricks! Maybe it's an old Pinbot! You really need to open it up and inspect it, or she'll be really upset when she comes home and you unbox a bunch of old encylopedias.

Is that enough justification? Maybe just set it up and throw a blanket over it.

(I say this as someone whose also-into-pinball wife was more excited than I for our first NIB opening.... so, teasing alert. )

All of these made me laugh... Ok, to come clean, I did ask her today- “Hey honey, about your travel schedule, yeah when will you be home?, ok, when do I have to come pick you up at the airport?, yes, (you don’t mind if I unbox MB?), What, no I will be there as soon as you land. Yes, so you will be home Friday at 4pm, um hmm... ok, dear, so we are good, yes? Ok, love you too... “<click>

Unfortunately that is not how that conversation actually went... it started with a “Honey, do you really mind if I unbox Monster Bash without—“

On the other end of the phone, Satan cut me off and responded “You can suck C@C&$ in hell before deciding to unbox that machine without me!!! And to those who say otherwise, feel NOW the wrath of my Power Who-ha ha ha!!!” <picture recieved tone>

She then sent a NSFW picture... (for reals...) that I would like to post, but not sure I want to post, because a pic of my wife’s hand flipping the bird to everyone is bound to get more than a few downvotes. Right?

Been waiting for my MBRLE since October 20th 2018.
Today it finally came.
RoadRunner Freight was the carrier. I refused delivery and am waiting to hear back the resolution from my dist.

My distributor told me to look out for shipping damage, he has had a rash of them on LE’s, hidden damage as well. Box fine, something inside not so fine.

This makes me want a moment of silence... sorry for your loss. Your living nightmare is all of ours too. If there is such a thing as a shared anxiety, let me take the yoke, brother and, carry the load until mine arrives.
