Quoted from gripwhip:

I am experiencing an intermittent phantom flip failure on the left side. The right side works every time. The left side only about 50% and then rest of the time it just drains. Thoughts? What triggers it? Rollover switch or Opto?

What’s weird is that I have the same left side problem. Also had an MMr and the left inlane switch was intermittent like that. Sometimes it would register sometimes not. Swapped right and left switches same thing. Replaced the left switch, still had problems with it not registering 100% of the time.

I did adjust the left side switch on the MBR but still have the intermittent problem.

Man I love intermittent problems

Phantom Flip works with the wireform in-lane switch detecting the start of the phantom flip sequence, and optical sensor (opto) hidden under the slingshot, and the eddy sensor (basically a resistor) completing the shot based on the MPU calculations.

The opto and eddy sensor are the keys to the mechanical element of Phantom Flip

#4156 5 years ago

I remember hazily there being an issue with how deep the pocket was the eddy sensor was mounted in, which affects the ability for the eddy sensor to sense the ball passing over it so it never gets the final input needed to trigger the flip, so the ball rolls off the flipper and drains. But that was a memory of discussing this on RGP about the original MB back in the long long ago. Seems to me the fix was getting the eddy sensor physically closer to the actual ball when it passes by it. Not sure anymore of my memory... I just turned way effing old Friday.

#4157 5 years ago

I put in a ticket with CGC. We will see what they say. I also love intermittent issues.

This is correct. The sensors are just held in with little clips under the PF - they can bend and work themselves out. Jam the eddy sensor up in tight, as close to the ball as possible - and crank the clip screw in tight as well. If that doesn’t do the trick, Underscrew the clip and slightly bend It to give it a bit more force, then screw it in

BigDaddy 7.2 seems to have fixed the left ramp. Thanks Haven't had a ball stick. I also adjusted the right out lane a little which is putting the ball on my right flipper more

#4160 5 years ago

All right... just got notice I'm in on next batch...

#4161 5 years ago

Repositioned Dracula inadvertently while installing new LEDs.. now I’m getting the ball hitting his feet! looking to move the ball guide a bit inward to address this. Should I bend it or try to reposition it by unscrewing ? (Is there even room for adjustment in the guide slot?)

I think I’ve solved scoop straight down the middle shots! I ran a 1/4” by 1” strip of moleskin down the right side of the *top* of the scoop and that’s prevented any SDTMs, seemingly. All of my foam options wouldn’t stay in there and was too invasive anyway, sending balls into the left sling. A thin felt (super adhesive) was just thick enough. Try it out! I hope this gets another pass at the design at some point.

#4163 5 years ago

Easy question- is there a setting that adjust the replay score based on how well or, in my case, how poorly you are doing? If so, what menu and what setting. Thanks!!

I can get a deal from a dealer on a MBr SE that was on display at the TPF. Do they the get much use and is it worth the savings of $500?

I'd imagine the use they'll get is as long as the power is on, it will be played non stop.
$500 isachunk of change; to me anyway

dumb question but does Franks ramp get used for more than starting and restarting frank MB? I love that shot so hopefully yes?

That's how you get super jackpots during mosh pit. I agree, it's a fun shot.

yes,
This happens to me quite a bit. Mostly when its rolling really slow.
It just gets stuck and I have to open the glass to get it unstuck.
I am raising hte pitch on my game, and I hope that resolves that issue.

There isn't much you could do with it per the rules, other than it opening up in MBs.

Change pitch to 7.2. It works. Haven't had it since.

So far I’m very pleased with the quality of the MBrLE. One of my few and minimal concerns is the back glass speaker panel do not reach the edges of the back box. In turn, light escapes from the sides (only at the bottom of the back glass and all of the speaker panel). What’s most annoying is that both pieces rattle. Anyone else having these issues?

interested to hear if anyone has gotten that right orbit shot to return to right flipper more often....

#4182 5 years ago

This game isnt as easy as people make it out to be but at least you know that monsters of rock is attainable. I am a decent player but those outlanes are a killer. To get the bride of frankenstein instrument is hard. I see why people keep coming back for more. On the other hand my woz i just keep dreaming about getting to SOTR.

#4183 5 years ago

Actually, it gets used during Mosh Pit Multiball. Wait, I see this was already noted by another. Nevermind!

#4184 5 years ago
Quoted from PicklePerfect:

Already getting an occasional "Check Switch 48 R. Flip Prox." on start-up tests. Phantom Flip on that side seems to work fine, though. Not thrilled about this since it's a completely new machine, but if someone out there wants to assuage my fears about the build quality, I'd love to hear it.

I got the same credit dot today. In test it reads, 'Check Switch 48 R. Flip Prox". All I was doing under the glass at that time was re-positioning Drac using the two Philips screws...hoping to stop the SDTM drains off his feet when the ball rolls backwards down the right outlane.

I took the glass off, started a game, and then qualified PHANTOM flip with my finger. Then I simply dropped the ball into the right inner-lane to retrain the phantom flip. The first time, the flipper auto-engaged with very little power. I re-qualified PHANTOM flip again and tried again. After doing this 3-4 times, the phantom flip had been re-trained and was working again, flipper engages w/ correct power and attempts to make the most valuable shot at that time. The credit dot was no longer displayed on the DMD.

Not sure what causes this, but this technique seems to fix it.

Yes, it’s also used in Monster Mosh Pit

... lol ok noted already about 50 times

#4186 5 years ago

As an original MB owner for a long time, all I am going to say is the LE is amazing and IMHO well worth the change. I think its a definite upgrade.

The XL HD DMD is amazing and worth it alone. Toss in the RGB light show, topper, and more just wow.

#4187 5 years ago

So my SE has been at the bar since mid January. Has about 1300 plays on it now. The dimples on the play field are starting to even out. I wasn't sure if this was going to happen but it definitely is. You have to basically put your nose on the glass to even notice them. The scoop protector is pretty beat up but it doesn't bother me a bit, it's doing its job perfectly. GC is a little over 180mil.

Only issue we had was the ball hitting drac's feet coming down the right orbit. I bent his feet back just a little and we made sure the game was level, works. Now it is very rare it hits his feet.

#4188 5 years ago
Quoted from sprite:

Got my MBR LE today and I have no idea how this thing passed QC. It has a February 20th production date. This is my first Chicago Gaming pin and I'm very disappointed.
1. The blue gradient part of playfield has dark blue ink splotches all over it.
2. Left mouth wash missing part of 'M'. Edit: I looked at some other pictures posted, so I suppose this might be on all of them.
3. Right mouth wash, wash is covered by a big black ink splotch. This is the issue that bothers me the most as it's immediately noticeable.
4. The head has a ton of glue popping out of it.
5. Red paint drop between Drac insert and target. This one doesn't photograph well but much clearer in person.
I have not completely looked over the pin yet, this was just things that immediately popped out at me.
If this is how the LE playfields that are supposed to be the best quality are arriving I can only imagine what non LE play fields must be like. Did anyone else receive one with similar issues?

Any word from CGC on your play field?

It appears to have been the physical switch as I suspected. I bent it so it sticks more above the playfield and that seems to have fixed the issue. I need to do more play testing to be sure. I pretty sure it was just not registering depending on how the ball went down the inlane.

Not yet. I filed a support ticket. They replied asking for a phone number to reach me at, but have not called yet.

I apologize if this has been asked before but if there are 1,250 LE’s being made how long would you guesstimate someone has to buy one NIB? Are they likely to sell out of that edition this year?

AFAIK CGC is sold out, but i'll bet there's a few distros with one in stock.

I just realized our LE games do not include invisiglass. Bummer. I would rather have that than a shaker.

Let me tell you invisiglass is sick on this game. Only way to fly IMHO. I wasn't a big believer in it until I finally saw it and makes a big difference.

I have two sheets arriving Wednesday. One for my MMr and one for my MBr LE. It’s great to hear your opinion. This is the first Ivisiglass I’ve purchased. I’m guessing there will be a few more sheets in my future once I get spoiled with the first two.

I'm about 150 posts behind so who needs their panties rubbed on now?

I was looking at the bottom of my LE cabinet...which is sitting next to my Aerosmith LE. Stern used particle board on the Aerosmith. MBr LE uses high quality plywood. This thing is solid.
