Quoted from DazedandConfused:

Since you have both, would you mind saying what you like or don't like about BK vs MB? Which do you find yourself playing more. Thanks.

I have both. I'm selling BK SOR. BK is the first pin that I really stress out playing. The first day I had it home I thought "uh-oh...this feels unpleasant." Which sound ridiculous but it's true. I even switched to the alternate soundtrack because the original fast metal one just adds to my stress (and I love my Metallica pin). It's brutal. It often feels unfair as the main three shots in the middle will often drain.

MB never feels unfair - if it drains, I did it. BK is also waaay faster than MB, which is nice when it's not brutal.

Thanks and I think that sort of confirms my first impression, somehow it doesn't play quite as smooth as MB, but hard to put my finger on it. Well, there are so many pins out there to choose from. MB is my one keeper.

anyone have an issue where when a new ball gets put in the shooter lane the auto launch button doesn't work for a second or two? full disclosure, i just put one of those plastic protectors in there. maybe the ball isn't sitting down enough for the switch to register or it's catching on the plastic a bit. i'll see if anything is going on there.

Yes, I've had this issue and for the same reason (shooter lane protector). I had to bend the actuator up slightly so that the ball would activate the switch on roll over. Probably want to verify that is the issue with a switch test first.

First Pinside Post. First Pin. First NIB Pin.

Little late to the party, but happy to be here. MB-0081 checking in. Was lucky to find one still NIB with a distributor who would part with it. Carrier punched a softball sized hole in it, but luckily above anything sensitive. First few games have been really fun. Thanks to the posters who contributed great knowledge to this thread. I read 111 pages of 155 before purchasing the pin. Look forward to reading the rest and seeing what else I can learn about being a pin owner and about MBr in particular!

Anyone else have SDTM off of Dracula’s feet from the right orbit. I lift the machine on the right side a few turns more to see if it helps and still getting SDTM shots from that area. It’s frustrating as when you plunge it comes that way 90% of the time and goes SDTM about 70%. Makes the game very unplayable. I ended up taking the bob out and having to heavily tilt the machine but I don’t want to beat my machine constantly. There must be an easier fix. I took a look at Dracula and don’t know if there is any adjustments I can do to him. Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks!!

Every 5-10 balls has a bit of a delay at launch, but it always launches. No protector. I can't imagine the protector causing that, as once the ball settles it's either triggering the switch or it's not.

I never had this problem but others here have. Either a) Cut off Dracula's legs from the waist down (or was it from the head down?) or b) Search "Dracula" and see the previous posts. I'd start with b.

ps - I'm not responsible for you cutting off your Dracula

#7711 2 years ago

i have all my leg casters screwed in the whole way. in other words, it sits fairly flat. i only get the SDTM bounce off drac about 10% of the time i'd guess. maybe a little bit more than that, but certainly not 70%.

Quoted from Flipper_Ripper:

I bent the end of the ball guide out a bit so the ball would miss Dracs feet and avoid the SDTM. On some super fast orbits the ball does go to the left flipper instead of the right, but at least not SDTM.

I used my bench grinder to grind a fraction of an inch off of his toes. I've never had one go down the middle since as they all come smoothly to the right flipper now.

LTG - thank you. I tried the switch edge test the left doesn’t show up. I’ll check the switches again and the wiring. I reached out to Automated where I got the machine from and the tech is gonna walk me through troubleshooting as well. Thanks so much!

LTG finally spent time on this issue. Rubber must have been keeping the switch depressed. some adjustments but now they're working normally. Thanks for your help!

Happens on many many MBs out there. Upgrade to the MezelMods tesla coil flashers!

How hard is it to install the MezelMods tesla coil flashers?

#7718 2 years ago
Quoted from CaptainRedEye:

How hard is it to install the MezelMods tesla coil flashers?

Not hard at all. It's been over a year, but it's roughly: detach the power connectors under the playfield, remove the existing ones - I think it's 2 screws. If I recall correctly, they come in 2 pieces - the lower piece screws in. Then unpeel the backing on the adhesive on the top of the Mezel tesla coils, and stick them on. Plug in power connectors, done. Something like that.

Make sure you specify when you order if you have a remake or an original. The power connectors are slightly different.

I ended up having to bend it quit a bit to get it to work some. It is almost like he shifts to far left and the entire arm never makes it back into that groove on the main bracket. I bet I have bent it a quarter inch already for it to still fail sometimes.

#7724 2 years ago

The playfield on this thing is gorgeous. If I was Stern i would be begging CGC to be making my playfields again. Besides the Frank faceplant issue it plays like a dream. I had a AFM LE and do not remember the playfield looking as good as my MB. The clearcoat is amazing.

Just had my best game to date on my MBr. Over 1.7 billion. My son captured the last part of it on video.

By the end there was noticeable flipper fade, which I guess is reasonable as the game took close to an hour I think.

I had 4 Monster Bashes (I think) and 3 Monsters of Rock (but still didn't make it to Lyman's Lament - think I was in the low 30s for that).

I'm exhausted...

Anyone know how difficult it is to replace the Dracula figure? It seems like two screws on his shoulders. Do I need to take the coffin out first or is there something I can do to get him out of the coffin to access those two screws?

You can probably go into test mode, bring him out and shut the machine off.

This is such a good idea!!

Are you sure when I turn it back on the machine won’t go wonky and not know what to do with Dracula? Or does it know to reset itself and tuck him back into the coffin?

Ok so this weird thing is happening but don’t know if it’s normal.

I set extra ball reward when you hit 45,000,000. And the machine shows that and for about 20 games that’s the case then it changes itself to 35,000,000 points now gets you an extra ball. I don’t really mind but why does the computer have a mind of its own? I also set ball save to 3 and it only give me 2 balls saves. Currently it hits dracs feet off the plunge and SDTM, so sometimes it doesn’t 2 quick drains and it does give you the last ball save. Something wrong?

If you have it set to auto percentage. Yes it does. Things get easier or harder depending on how you are doing.

I don't think you understand how the ball save works.

There are two settings for this A.2 - 01 and A.2 - 02.

The A.2 - 01 setting sets the number of ball saves. This is NOT how many times a single ball will be saved, but is how many of your balls per game can have a save. If this is set to 1, then only 1 ball (i.e. ball 1, ball 2, or ball 3) will ever be allowed to be saved.

The A.2 - 02 setting sets the time that a ball may be saved for (i.e. the minimum ball time). For example if this is set to 15 seconds, then the ball will be "saved" (over and over) until 15 seconds have passed. Even if A.2 - 01 is set to "1", you can have that ball saved several times.

Alternatively, even if A.2 - 01 is set to "5", and A.2 - 02 is set to only "3", you will likely not ever have a ball actually get saved, as it usually takes more than 3 seconds for a ball to be launched and then drain.

You probably just want to increase the setting of A.2 -02 to get a longer ball save time.

Note that this is all described in the manual under A.2 Feature Adjustments.

Thank you so much! You are correct I don’t understand How ball save works. After reading your post and checking back with the manual I have a better understanding. Thanks so much! I only have one question. So I have it set at 2 currently and 15 seconds timer. How come I drain within 3 seconds and then drain again I don’t get that 2nd ball save? I’m going to change it to 5 ball saves until I can fix the Dracula feet SDTM. I really appreciate your response though. I’m new and learning.

No, each time you hit the targets it should advance you towards accessing the ramp. How many times you need to hit the targets is determined by how many times you have gone into Frank multi-ball already this game.

At start, you get one body part per hit, but after getting Frank multi-ball, the next time it takes 2 hits per body part. I'm not sure if you need 3 hits each after that. This might also be affected by the difficulty settings, but there is no "extra step" to getting there.

If you set it to 15 seconds, you should see the "Alive Again" light (between the flippers) flashing for those 15 seconds after you launch the ball the FIRST time (it's not 15 seconds for each launch). If the ball drains while that light is flashing, it should give it back to you. Once the light goes out, you're out of ball save time.

that's weird. i had all the parts lit or maybe the head was flashing. i swear i hit them after that like four or five times. this would have been after one multiball max.

is it possible to hit them too hard? i mean, you know these flippers "...have the power!".

#7746 2 years ago
Quoted from weaverj:

Well, "back in the good old days", standup targets like that would have a capacitor on them to help them detect very "fast" hits (and if the capacitor failed or fell off, the switch would still work but only on "slow" hits) - but I don't think modern machines have a need for those anymore.

I don't have any other ideas, except to go into switch test mode and bounce the ball off of the targets making sure that you get a consistent response.

Anyone know if you can plug the le topper into the se and have it work the same as in the le? I’m thinking it won’t work.

#7748 2 years ago

I'm thinking about selling my MBr se. It's the one I bought from Colsond3. I've put less than 100 plays on it since I've owned it. It still has Colson's name on the display. It has Lermods interactive Plasma Wheel, upgraded Frankenstein table. I added a shaker and I bought Flyland designs side blades that are not installed yet. Green plastic protectors, Green slime on the creature sign, Cliffy mosh pit protector not installed. Cliffy lane protectors. I put the newest code in it. Here's the problem... It's upstairs and will have to have the head taken off and the playfield removed to get it down stairs. I put a stair lift in after it went upstairs. A hand cart won't fit on the stairs. Here's pictures of it before the mods. https://pinside.com/pinball/market/classifieds/archive/83736 It's still in that condition. The only reason I'm selling it is to buy an old car. $7000. I will pay pinside if it sells.

I just called CGC about this, they answered yes. He said I could acutally put it on a CE as long as I had the color chip. I thought about buying that one on the market place but do not feel like dropping a grand on it.
