IMG_20191212_162708 (resized).jpgQuoted from CHIEF1893:Good Day,
Recently started experiencing issue with the mummy sarcophagus not popping open. The game is an LE and only a month old. Any suggestions or tweaks as im sure its something simple. Thank you.
I've owned an SE for about a month now, and this same problem started about a week ago. My tech fixed (I hope for good!) the problem today.
Now I'm a total pinball owner newbie, so my description of what we found and fixed may leave something to be desired. so sorry in advance.
There's a piece of metal that pops through a slot in another piece of metal to open the door. What was happening was that the first piece of metal wasn't going through the slot properly (it was hitting the side of the slot and not going through), so it wasn't opening the door. The slotted piece of metal is attached to a round metal piece above it. we slightly bent the round metal piece inward, changing the angle of the slot, so that the metal would go through the slot cleanly. That seems to have fixed the problem.
Now why that piece NEEDED to be bent after working fine for a month, I have no idea.
Hope this helped.
Quoted from zaki:I say ok. Look at mine. Your your playfield have dimbles on it?[quoted image]
I've got dimples on mine as well, playfield and cliffy protector. Lots of balls jumping off of Frank's feet during multi ball. I believe some people have put down mylar in the area...

Thanks for the pic. Not sure about dimples. Haven't really checked/payed attention.
Quoted from mcfly:Can you elaborate more on what you did with the electrical tape to help keep the ball off dracs feet please?
I had layered tape on the end of the right rail to make it the ball curve off it more to the left. After playing a while I decided I didn't like that, since when the orbit opens up in wolfman mode the ball no longer fed to the right flipper.
What I ended up doing was taking dracula off his metal cross and slightly bending the cross back at the bottom and forward at the top, net effect being dracula tilted forward some without bending the coffin too much. A little like this:

Ours works great. Same on the original.
Here's a question...can you reset the phantom flip learning?
It would be cool if you there was simply a 'learning' mode that you keep feeding the ball down the lane, and it shoots the shots until it has the timing down.

Yes, do a factory reset, then play a TON of games, and make lots of every shot to have it re-learn
When you're in wolfman mode and you shoot the left orbit with the right flipper, where should the ball be sent to? Back to the right flipper or over to the left flipper? Right now, mine gets sent to the left flipper so I can't make repeat left orbit shots. I'm guessing the previous owner of my game bent that rail a bit to avoid the ball hitting dracs feet.
My left orbit dumps long to the left too. I usually hold the right flipper up on a left orbit to avoid a drain. I have not modified my ball guide and my ball does not have the Drac feet bounce stdm problem. I chalk it up to a tradeoff and play on.

Mine goes back to the right flipper when orbiting clockwise and to the left flipper when orbiting counter-clockwise. I had to adjust drac to keep it consistent (as described above), but man does wolfman mode feel good. It's one of my favorite parts of this pin.
Just had Monsters of Rock lit for the first time and couldn’t hit the scoop to save my life. Drained out. Brutal....
So, I know there's the songs listed on the CD, but i just noticed on the back of Dracs coffin there is 1 or 2 different songs listed (there's 3, but at least one is on the CD), are those additional songs real in the game?
What's the best way to clean your play field from the normal dirt/grime that might accumulate during normal play?

Naphtha, thoroughly. Make sure you open a window. Then re-wax it. Thoroughly. See Vid’s guide
Had a productive day- had a few nagging issues that are nothing new, just finally decided to look at each one.The scoop was easily removed and and i just loosened up the coil stop and and moved it to the tightest position against the coil and retightened . It really seemed to help. Prior, I had just tried various coil strength adjustments -with no consistent improvement.Having the ball go SDTM is a real joy killer, so far after playing 3 games- no SDTMs.
The other nuisance issue was the outhole protector- every once in a while a ball will not enter the trough, and the ball is hidden from normal view. Just had to remove it and add a couple minor tweaks to get the edge flat again.
By adding a slight bend to the Dracula stand, I am hoping this will help with the flow of the game. Usually it is when the ball is moving slowly from the right orbit that it hits his feet and more often than desired- it tends to gravitate between the flippers. So far - the bend looks to have improved this issue.
I have not yet discovered what the fix is for the launch of the ball- as about 1 in 10 times it will bobble and not even make it to the roll over lanes.I have tried different coil settings, but it occurs on all settings. Has anyone had this issue and found the root cause for it? Thanks

What is the “Dracula stand” you refer to?
The ball launch issue is a combination of the tightness of the left ball guide wireform and the straightness of the ball trajectory- you have to really be sure the launch pin is hitting the ball straight on, and that the wire guard is deep in the wood. Then wax the crap out of all involved components
Quoted from Jigfrog:What's the best way to clean your play field from the normal dirt/grime that might accumulate during normal play?
Novus 1 and a microfiber cloth. Give it maybe 15 min to fully dry before playing. It'll still play fast for the first 5 or so games. Depending on how many plays your machine gets, if you do this about once a month, the dirt never really builds up. Also replace standard black rubbers (slingshots and flippers, anyway) with different colors or silicone or whatever if you want to go the extra mile.
After ball launch, should a ball be able to go through the far left roll-over lane and hit the far left bumper without activating the bumper?
It happens..I've had the ball roll thru the entire thing and not trigger a single pop bumper...many times. Sometimes you just gotta give it a nudge.
Quoted from SkaterVet:After ball launch, should a ball be able to go through the far left roll-over lane and hit the far left bumper without activating the bumper?
You can adjust the pop bumper sensitivity so it works every time.
Quoted from Pizzaman13:Anyone know of a decent deal on an MB Special Edition within 3 hours of Washington DC area?
Check with Joe at PinballSTAR. That is where I got mine.
Quoted from pinballaddicted:You can adjust the pop bumper sensitivity so it works every time.
Lift your play field and adjust your pop bumper leaf switches closer together. Almost touching.
When I got my game, the pops were very inactive. I tightened them up and all is well.
Quoted from Navystan:So, I finally have my MB. I got a low-play MBrSE with mirror blades and plasma mod. I also have a Mezelmod Disco ball that owner gave me. Anyone install yet? If so, any other place other than back right corner? Pictures please! I also ordered Mezelmod's RGB trough lights.
Yes, it goes in the back right as they pictured on their website.
I had one installed for a little bit. The motor stopped working within a week. They sent me a replacement. The replacement utilized the new Rock Custom tech. The mod did not meet my standards so I sent it all back for a refund with no issues.
Quoted from SkaterVet:After ball launch, should a ball be able to go through the far left roll-over lane and hit the far left bumper without activating the bumper?
A plastic rod from the pop bumper skirt comes down through the playfield and rests on a plastic spoon attached to the top leaf blade switch. Be sure it is centered, and the plastic spoon should just be resting on the plastic rod, not pushing it. The shorter leaf blade should be close enough to the top long one so the slightest ball hit triggers it, but vibration doesn't. A little tweaking should fix this.

Quoted from NightTrain:Does anyone make an alternative plastic to cover these four lights from the players view? I really want to play with cool white GI but I hate those four shining in my eyes.[quoted image]
Get some plastic protectors they are etched over them. It helps some.

a good longer term solution is also to remove the bulbs and replace with a blue frosted strip from Comet
Having a weird issue with my MBrLE. Whenever I turn on the game it won't start. I have to open the coin door and eject a ball into the shooter lane. All the balls get launched and it seems to be in search mode, then the game starts and plays. Once in a while it launches all the balls during the game. It also says I have a bad trough opto check wires and 12v. In test mode, all balls are properly seen in the trough. That message doesn't happen all the time. Also, if I open the coin door and then close it, game will not start. I have to do the same process to eject a ball into the shooter lane. Never seen this issue before. Any ideas? I plan to open a ticket on Monday.
Thanks
Quoted from Zablon:Check the connectors to the trough and optos there to make sure they haven't wiggled apart some.
That was the firs thing I did, then I checked all the connectors on the backboard. Seems ok. So weird.
Also if I open the coin door and close it, game won't start. I have to repeat the ball eject process.

Turn game off. Reseat connectors to the ball trough opto boards.
Then boot it up. Open coin door, pull out the high power interlock switch. See if it works then. If so, bend the metal flap over a little so when you close the coin door it fully depresses the high power interlock switch.
Still same issues ? Then check the plunger that kicks the balls up the ball trough VUK to the shooter lane. If that plunger is a tiny bit to high, it prevents the balls from rolling into position right. The coil/plunger/bracket is secured to a metal plate at the end of the ball trough. Four screws hold it on, it is adjustable. Loosen the screws and move it down a tiny bit. ( not to much high or low ). tighten the screws back up. See if that helps.

Thanks for your suggestions LGT. I checked the coin door and it's fine. I reseated the opto connectors. I don't seems to get the opto error anymore. It seems that the game may not see ball#1 in the trough (this may be why it doesn't start but doesn't say locating balls). if I eject the ball, it ejects all the balls and goes into some type of ball search test. Then the game starts. Plays for a bit and then the balls start to eject on their own. eventually it stops ejecting and I can let 3 of the 4 balls drain and continue to play until it does the same thing all over again. Makes for alot of multi-ball games. I think the opto board might be faulty but in switch test it sees all 4 balls when I drop them in one by one.
Also, in switch test mode I get continual Right Flipper Prox swtich going off. I moved it from 4 to 3 and it registers with just my finger on the playfield. I thought Eddy switches only registered with a ball. On 2/3rd setting Phantom Switch pretty much does not work at all.
Are these the 4 screws you were talking about?
IMG_4888 (resized).JPGQuoted from Edster:Are these the 4 screws you were talking about?
Not locknuts. ( They hold the whole thing to the end of the ball trough )
Screws - red arrows point to them. Two in picture to below the picture. See the slots above them ? Allows things to move up or down.

bc24f47e2eb95caccb1d899a880732d411f76300 (resized).jpgGot it. Thanks. Did a slight adjustment. It plays ok for a while and then it starts just spitting balls out again. Could this be a faulty opto? What would cause the VUK to eject balls? I would think it would do it when it registers all 4 balls in the trough? maybe at one point the opto fails and the game thinks all 4 are there and starts continuously ejecting balls and maybe it comes back and registers properly and then stops? It never happens in test mode, it only happens during play. I can't see anything that might trigger it, looks completely random.
Quoted from Edster:Could this be a faulty opto?
Starting to sound like this.
Balls magnetized and not rolling down the ball trough right ? Try new balls.

The balls are in the trough positioned properly, I watch as someone plays. Then all of a sudden it empties the trough and continues the VUK even when there are no balls there at all. Eventually it stops but there doesn't appear to be any pattern. Must be the opto. Also notice that when I open the coin door in attract mode, all the balls empty and launch from the shooter lane. Something really weird is going on.
