Monster Bash - how to access lamp PCB under Drac motor assembly?

It's almost completely covered.

Thanks

I would love to know this as well, as a new (for me) MB and first time pinball owner with some bulbs out.

Start taking shit apart. Sometimes that's all you can do.

Remove Drac.

Remove the mechanism below the playfield.

Party on.

Yep. It ain’t pretty but it’s not actually that bad. The proper way to do it is unplug and remove everything but by bit.

However, you secure Drac and the arm with a couple zip ties and a towel to avoid scratching the PF, you can just remove the screws attaching the motor to those standoff posts and then remove the PCB screws so you can lift that out enough to replace bulbs, etc.

Actually I did figure this out.

Go into Test - Drac Test and move the Drac figure all the way out from under the coffin

Turn power off

Remove Drac figure, and unscrew and flip switch back out of the way

Raise playfield

Disconnect the motor cable to give you some slack

Hold onto the hex spacers with pliers (so they don't back out) and remove (I think 5) screws holding the motor assembly on

You can then slide the motor out and away, since unscrewing and flipping the hit switch out of the way give you enough slack

If you are very careful, you can hold the motor on your off hand and get to all of the lamp sockets with your other hand without putting any stress on the Drac arm to replace all of the bulbs

I did this completely on my own and it was very workable.

If you need to actually remove the lamp PCB for repair or to clean the inserts, it is either

1. A two-person job - one hold the motor and the other removes the lamp PCB

2. De-solder the Drac hit switch and remove it rather than just flipping it up and out of the way and the motor arm just pulls out of the slot in the playfield completely

I was just doing an LED conversion so I used method 1.

Then reverse the steps

Took me about 20 minutes
