Just picked up this left electrode tower on Ebay for 40 bucks. (NOS complete) I want to use it for a topper that I want to build.
I will have to build the right one from parts. (Cost More) I want to use an LED wire to simulate the lightning between the electrode towers.

Can anyone give me a quick description of the differences between software version 1.0 and 1.06. I have 1.0 and I ordered the latest version (1.06) from Dave Estill
Just curious what to expect.

Thank you for that! One call out that I know is called up for 1.06 that isn't in 1.0 is right after "What A Torso" (you get) "What's A Torso" by Igor!

So I just installed 1.06b first game, 3rd ball and I broke the right ramp scoop protector right off. Damn! It falls into the the vuk with the ball shoots outta there and hits glass... I guess its a good thing I have a new right ramp on its way already!
Now where is that “Out of Order” sign?

Why not buy plasma globes and paint the bases purple and use eL wire between them. Much bigger and cheaper than the small towers from the machine. These were $10 cdn each at the source. 5" glass globe.

But great idea. Good luck.

I thought about these and considered them. But I wanted the topper to interact with the electrode flashers in the lab. And now I have the final piece to the puzzle and I intend to create the same topper scene as the artwork on the side of cabinet. Hopefully all the parts will arrive the end of this week.

#459 6 years ago

So now that I am on 1.06b from 1.0 I am hearing different call outs from Drac. One of them is “Blah Blah Blah” didnt hear that one in 1.0 There are others as well.
Got my ramp installed. It was nice to remove the “Out Of Order” sign

I am literally assembling this exact thing with the plasma globes right now! Lol

Just waiting on a relay I found which has built-in USB ports. They run on 5v which I am powering separately. I may use Professor Pinball’s Pinduino to control it eventually, but the flashers work great via the relay.

This was a game I restored for a friend a couple of years ago. Also make sure you use the metal cabinet protectors that screw on and gently cut (with an exacto knife) around them so that when you bolt on the legs it wont wrinkle the decals.

#465 6 years ago

Finally got my MB done.
Got the powder coating done and it's now 100% complete other than printing score cards and a topper.
Super happy with it

Nice job looks great. I am about to finish mine. (just a freshen up, a few mods and a topper) I did prosound and color DMD. I have to say those a must haves with this title!

No that game is long gone outta there. I just had it in there while I was working on it. Lots of light, perfect area to work on games.

#472 6 years ago

OK so I finished my topper. It is keyed off of the laboratory flashers and Frankenstien’s head led. The lightning will flash in idle then go out until you get Frank’s head then it will light and flash during Frankenstien Bash mode. The flashers on topper electrodes flash and glow when you hit Frank’s targets. The will flash and glow during Frankenstien Bash mode, they will flash when you hit Frank and they will flash at game over. The 5” pinball is real silver. I found it in an antique store.

So since the backboard plastic is readily available I am thinking of using it as a backboard on the topper. I would place the Wolfman in front of the Mummy cutout in the plastic. I could light up the plastic with GI. What do you guys think? leave it as is or install the backboard?

I think that would be cool - I may try this as well since I did not install the backboard from my set of new plastics - too many rivets!

I know some of you had reservations (to put it mildly) about the spot lighting for Monster Bash. So here is the comparison to all off. I have to also say that I have a blue 6 led strip under apron. The spot lights have purple CoinTaker 4 LEDs. MB has very little lighting from the slings to flippers so difference is dramatic. Also I discovered today (yes I know what took you so long) that the GI in MB strobes when you get MoshPit multiball. That stobing is awesome with the purple spotlights. It kinda gives you the AFM strobe effect. Very Cool.

After looking at the video from the link here I am pretty dissappointed with the quality and resolution. You cant see the lightning between the towers much at all.
This thing looks much better in person. I have build instuctions and a material list available for you guys if you want them. Just pm me and I will email them over to you. Here are some build pics.

Does CGC sell individual parts like that? Only PPS has the license to make this stuff so it may be a while

I find it interesting that it's not available. (Actually surprised pps doesn't have more MB parts for sale.) I would think that if these parts are in a pile to go into remakes, PPS would grab a few to sell.

You can damn near build a CC from parts that PPS has in stock.

CC had a MUCH smaller run though didn’t it? MB was 3500 units or something; I’m sure there is a minimum number of parts to produce to make something profitable - the CC parts available are probably NOS from games that never got built. I don’t think they sell repro parts for CC

#488 6 years ago

Oh they are out there. The ramps are being made by someone. Micro has the playfield. Decals are available too. Not to mention the mods.

#489 6 years ago

So I finished the topper (stage II). I installed the back board and lit it up with a couple of incondecant light bulbs tied the the GI. (For a glow) I went with the incondecants because the frosted dome cool white LEDs that I have were too bright. I installed the Wolfman plastic (like on the pf) and installed his respective flasher. So he will flash during his mode and during all flash ect... I suppose you could add other things up there that can light up with other monsters and their modes. I just didn’t want it to get too busy.

The pics came out a little dark. It doesn't look this dark in person. I think it's from the lighting of the translate interfering with the phone camera.

Do you have a smartphone? You can tap on the screen where you want the picture to focus on and it will balance the light for you. Try taking it angled up closer to the ceiling so it minimizes how much of the translite is in the shot. Topper looks very cool from what I can tell!!

Cell phone cameras have a UV blocker on them. So if you have UV lights it will effect the picture.

That's why you can't take pics of optos with modern cameras. Unless you can turn it off.
