Hi. Just joined the club. Pretty nice Monopoly in general. Last owner installed a money decal on the back board and side art. I did some lighting adds. Pop bumper rings, light strips in the outhole and across the rear. All star posts lit up. Scoop and hole lights.

There are 2 things that stand out like a sore thumb on this game. The 2 black diverter covers. They have to go.

If anyone have a 3D printer, maybe print a large green house as a replacement? I see files on thingaverse. Hotel would probably be too tall to fit under the glass.

Any other ideas? Car or Battleship tokens could also work?

Quoted from ChrisS:

I'm going to be tearing down a Monopoly and doing a playfield swap sometime in the future. Has anyone done Yellow skirts and covers for the upper pops and orange skirts and covers for the lower pops? If so I would like to see some pics.
thanks chris.

Hey Chris. I scoured the internet when I got my Monopoly and I didn’t see anyone changing their pop caps to another color. I like to experiment with different cap colors on games but I thought the Monopoly ones were nice with clear and red.

If you try some others please post some pics.

Has anyone found jumbo size dice to make a shooter rod?

Looking for 32mm or 1.25” dice. Tough to find white with black pips.

Quoted from northerndude:

I got mine from AliExpress. I drilled it and made my own shooter rod

The only dice I see on AliExpress are 25mm /1 inch. That is kinda small.

Was in a one off Dollar Store and found some jumbo white resin dice. 1.25” and 1.5”. Tried them both for shooter rods. I think I like the 1.25”.
Tough to see the scale in the pictures between the two sizes.

Quoted from Ceckitti:

How did you attach them? Looks good.

Drilled a 3/8” hole right in the 1 pip. Put a sparing amount of 5 min epoxy in the hole. Hammered the knurled end of the shooter rod into the hole. 10 minutes and done.

Less than $1 mod. Some dollar store stickers and a shot of white spray paint. Dice for speakers.

Borrowing an idea from the other members in the club. Added some dice to the top of the long inlane studs.

Adding tokens or in my case dice, cuts down on any balls inadvertently bouncing over the guide and draining. Nothing worse than a drain that was totally out of your control and not suppose to happen.

Quoted from HIPPY:

I really like your idea with the dice. Looks good and will also save balls. How did you go about it? Thanks.

Took an brand new 1/8” drill bill and just drilled on the corner of the die. The dice I bought at the buck store almost had a small flat spot of each corner. I couldn’t clamp it in the vice very well so I just held them and drilled. The hole drilled was just right to self tap right on top of the stud.

The drill size was an experiment and it just worked out fine. I would have looked up the proper drill/tap chart but I was lazy.

Quoted from HIPPY:

I did the same procedure you did. Sure looks good, like it belongs there. I will bet they keep those fast balls from reading railroad ramp from bouncing over the guides. I changed all the clear posts to blue with yellow rubber. Very pleased, thanks.[quoted image]

Looks great. Next step I recommend it to light up those blue posts. I just lit up the blue ones on my Popeye.

Do you have any suggestions on what to do with the ugly black covers on each ramp? They are the last eyesore to fix.

Quoted from EZ-Rhino:

Thanks... I'll give those a try and see if it resolves.

There is a service bulletin about the sound on monopoly. You need to check the values of the resistors.

Quoted from G35R6:

So my Monopoly hums like this as well.
Where have you guys sent your boards to get these resistors replaced?
Is this something Stern could/would do? They're 20 minutes away from me.

You have to confirm that your board actually has the wrong resistor values. My monopoly has the correct values and it is a factory board, no work done to it.

No sense sending out a board for no reason.

Quoted from Keeter:

Has anyone sucessfully swapped out the start button for a light up one? Ordered this but having trouble finding wiring diagrams for it. A few of the posts I found on pinside come up empty handed.
https://www.pinballlife.com/williamsballystern-red-start-button.html

Added a yellow Williams start button. To light it up, just tied the wiring into the coin door coin lights. The start button is constantly lit up.

Quoted from DK:

What is the best rom version for Monopoly? I’m reading that 3.2 has random crashes but is it often? Something that can be disabled in the menu?

I have only noticed a bug during the Land Grab Wizard mode. Don’t know what triggers it. It will reset the display showing text like when you first start up the game. Also changes the game display from free play to credits. Never noticed any other bugs during game play.

Quoted from 22troy:

Just picked up a Monopoly. I just noticed it’ll let you enter high scores, but in the attract mode it only shows the top 3 high scores. Anyone know if there is a setting I’m missing to get all the high scores to display in the attract mode?

Every 5th time through all attract mode scenes / screens it will show the 10 top ten scores and a few other select screens.
