Quoted from T2play:

Thank you, does anyone know where I can get the bottom plastic piece from? Or the part number for that piece mine is cracked, also is your gray post resting on the bumper cover? image.jpeg
Did this mod today, just need to add in the y connector for the buttons and get a white die shorter Rod.

they are part of a clear plastic set - try e-pay . . .

Quoted from kporter946286:

Yup that is the newest version. I know mine sometimes goes faster but its not detrimental to the game play. Not sure what the cause would be as it is timed by the programming, other than re-burn your ROM?

I swapped the original roms back in and the rotating flipper works as it should now. Odd... I may have to try re burning the new roms.

If anyone has a Hobby Lobby craft store near them, I saw some Monopoly art that might be useful decorations in somebodies game room.

Joined the club. I have some work to do (gi issues) although this pin is pretty clean and appears to be a non-routed pin. Where are the mods for this pin?? Also have to tackle that hummdidyhumm/buzz/white noise as it's annoying I will admit I didn't get through all these pages here but I will do my best to backtrack so i'm not asking questions that have been answered weeks/months ago

Hey guys, thought I'd give a heads up that I recently designed some new rule cards for Monopoly the other day. You can grab them for free at http://pinballboy.com/rulecards/monopoly

#207 8 years ago

I love that topper! Congrats on a great game.

I have an NOS right ramp for Monopoly part # 515-7220-00 for sale $130 plus actual shipping cost .

I did the Stern bulletin #133 for the white noise, made a huge difference...

That's a great find bonanza. I've been on hobby lobby's site many times and missed these I guess. I'm making my own topper and I might use one of these as the backdrop. Thanks for posting.

Few questions:

Anyone put a decal or something under right ramp? Pink looks outta place to me.

Shaker motor?

Also my volume button is missing? (Haven't looked that far into yet) Any easy fix or maybe just go pinpac?

Anyone powder coat armor? If so color/pics.
Thx

#213 8 years ago

I have bright red armor on mine;

20151028_105629_(resized).jpg20151028_105629_(resized).jpg

Picture makes it look a lot more pinkish than it actually is. The color really matches the side artwork well.

The armor is actually the bright red off of an X-Men LE Magneto. My brother decided to change his X-Men to the same dark red used on TFLE Autobots /ST Premium, so he game me the bright red stuff.

I think it looks awesome. Makes me want to put red T-molding on the backbox edges...

Later,
EV

Volume is controlled by the coin door buttons. Open the coin door and press volume up or down while it's on. D Shaker motor? What are you shaking?

Is anyone using a Whitestar II cpu/sound board ( 520-5300-00 ) on their Monopoly Pinball? I need to get a new board for Monopoly and the original does not appear to be available anymore ( Rev E 520-5136-16) and I've seen on some sites that there might be sound issues if you use the Whitestar II board on games earlier than Lord of Rings. I'm hoping someone on here is and can confirm or deny if there is any issues with using the 5300 board on the pin as its the only one readily available.

Thanks much!

Disaster struck today, two days into ownership. The switch on the top right ramp broke away from the ramp itself. The plastic where the switch was screwed in is broken away.

1) is this common?
2) I am under assumption I basically need a new ramp, unless there is some clever way to ziptie this thing.
3) are the ramps available anywhere?

I would put a couple new holes in the ramp and make an adapter bracket. You could do that pretty cleanly... nobody would notice it.

#220 8 years ago

1) is this common?

Yes - it happened to mine in the exact same spot.

2) I am under assumption I basically need a new ramp, unless there is some clever way to ziptie this thing.

Super glued mine back on and so far it has held (2½ years). Might yet reinforce mine with an additional small strip of clear plastic / Perspex for added strength. Then maybe add an adhesive sticker (monopoly themed graphic) over the top to hide it.

3) are the ramps available anywhere?

I believe so.

#221 8 years ago

I might be wrong on this, but there is a plastic piece that you can buy, or make that goes on top of that ramp and keeps the ball from flying up and hitting the switch bracket causing that damage.

There is an update from stern about it.

I made one from a piece of plastic packaging and it works great (figured I'd add it to the next parts order), I don't think I have seen any balls going up the ramp only to come back because it became an air ball going up the ramp.

http://www.sternpinball.com/upload/downloads/sb135.pdf

http://www.marcospecialties.com/pinball-parts/502-5012-00 (Out of stock) $3

and for the record... mine is broke too... but I was getting sick of the returned balls...

#222 8 years ago

Yeah the rejects from the left ramp are a pita! So, we can only make this plastic at this point? I read the stern bully but am assuming they no longer send this out?? And I doubt marco will re-stock it. I am no good w/ plastics so if anyone tackles this let me know

#223 8 years ago

I made ramp protectors for my machine based off of these designs:

http://www.pinballzone.com/tech/monopolyflap.php

I can dig up the CAD files I created, or the EPS vector file I sent off to the laser cutter.

Awesome link! I didn't even think about the Free Parking Ramp shot... Cool

#225 8 years ago

I just remembered I made slingshot plastic protectors for Monopoly too.... I should put them all in one layout and share that with you guys.

Can someone post a picture of the flipper coil wiring? Mine had the coils cut out of it and I have no Idea where they go

#232 7 years ago

When Monopoly was brand new I remember reading on RGP something about a golden thimble message in the roms..
Did anyone ever get that messaga for real or have more info about it ? Or was it just a hoax in the rom ?

#233 7 years ago

Anyone have a pic they can help me with? of the flipper coils?

If you download the ROMs from ipdb.org and search in moncpu.320 you can see the text:

CONGRATULATIONS! YOU HAVE FOUND THE GOLDEN THIMBLE! SEND YOUR NAME AND E-MAIL ADDRESS TO [%1]@PATLAWLORDESIGN.COM FOR INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO RECEIVE YOUR [%2] [T-SHIRT] [COFFEE MUG] [BACKGLASS] [JACKET] [GRAND PRIZE]

Whether you can actually get to that is a different question!

I'd like to look a bit more in this ROM, there are some funny things in there:

BEFORE YOU DUMP THE LIST TO RGP YOU SHOULD KNOW THAT SOME MESSAGES ABOVE AREN'T SHOWN IN THE GAME CLOSE YOUR EDITOR AND PLAY SOME PINBALL!

LED's are done.
I patched up the switch on the top ramp with a discreet zip tie job. Working 100% for now.

Dropped the color DMD in last night too, looking and playing great. The photo included was just before install.

I color matched the properties on the board instead of going the cool white route. I think they all look great, excepting the Baltic/Mediterranean pair. The Purple doesn't carry through them as well as it does on the St. Charles block.

I just did the Flipper Fidelity Pinball Speakers in my Monopoly and the bars underneath the PF hit the woofer! Anyone else run into this? I just took the bar off for now but it was just enough not to let the PF go flat. Sounds much better now. The bass is a nice improvement!

You have to remove the elevated box the sub sits on. A better solution is to buy FF's backbox speakers and buy a PS10W Polk powered sub woofer that can power two machines at once. They are about $110 shipped. It ends up being about the same price as FFs complete setup and sounds so much better.

Not sure what the elevated box is? The speaker is one piece with nothing to take off of it and it pretty much sits right on the grill on the bottom of the cabinet. The included volume adjustment is a nice feature. I really have some bass pumping out of that sub. I turned the game volume way up and turned down the backbox speakers. Almost like a shaker motor at times!

So while in Allentown I ran into a guy selling Plastic protectors that also illuminate with the pf lamps. Figured for $60 I'll give them a try. Gives the game a newer look for sure. More colorful and brighter. Wish the kit did more on the game though. There is at least 2 or 3 more plastics would have been nice for the upper pf. Hard to tell in pictures but here they are..... http://www.shop.freddys-pinball-paradise.de/convolux.php

Anyone else ever have problems with the rotating flipper spinning too fast? Its fine for about 30 seconds into the first ball then starts spinning way too fast for the rest of the game.
I replaced the relay under the playfield and started checking connections. Not sure where to look. Maybe a flaky component on the driver board?

I finally got back around to working on monopoly and figured out the problem while tracking down what I thought was an unrelated switch matrix problem. I had a wire on the wrong lug of the rotating flipper micro switch. That one wire caused several other things to have odd switch closure issues. Now my rotating flipper works fine with the 3.03 software. I still don't understand why only the new software caused it to spin too fast but the old software was fine.

Hey guys wanted to toss this back out there. So my upper right flipper will not stay engaged while holding the flipper button down. You get one flip from it and that's it. The lower right flipper will stay engaged. I did a little more trouble shooting and it seems someone wired my flipper cabinet switch backwards. Found this out in the switch matrix mode. I flipped the wires on the switch around and thought this would have cured my issue but still the same thing. Do you think something on the main board may have gotten cooked because it was wired backwards for so long? Just wonder if anyone else ran into this issue and the cure you found. I checked the coil. I also checked in test mode it will just flip the flipper once but still make the sound like you are holding it down so it thinks it's engaged. Running out of ideas and things to check!

My rotating flipper will sometimes spin really fast out of no where. Happens maybe once in a dozen games. I usually just shut it down I'm afraid of burning something up.

Just picked up a monopoly my first stern machine. I noticed there is a strange beeping and humming noise when the machine is on and seems to correspond in the beeping sequence with the gi lights. Wouldn't think this is normal? Any advice? Thanks.

Mine use to make that sound you are talking about. No horribly loud but it was there. I did all LEDs and that sound just about went away.

Broken left ramp by the gate. Common and you can not get the plastic ramps anymore all sold out!
Bank door can be found broken as well. Another hard part to get.
Like most pins check for battery leakage. I did NVram upgrade in mine.

I think that's about it that I can recall. Great pin! Own it all!
