You need an Allen key/wrench to loosen tighten that
That set screw might have locktite on it, I had a mini butane torch to heat it first, and then used a brand new set screw.
I can't recall if the threaded hole had to be re-threaded or not - good luck.
Quoted from Habermania:Well that explains part of it. There is no set screw, but there is a piece of metal in there that seems to push in if I try to fit a screw in there, but I can't loosen. [quoted image]
Yeah that does looked stripped. I don't know what tools you have, but if you can get "grip" with an allen wrench (3/32"?) you might try getting some impact allen bits and try hammer drilling it out. Otherwise, you might try a mini-stripped screw extraction tool..? If it is stripped, it could be tough to get out. I wish you luck!
I have exactly the same problem; a set screw that can't be removed. I still have the wheel, but I got so frustrated with trying to get it out that I wound up fashioning my own driven wheel out of oak, believe it or not. It's been in my Monopoly for 4 1/2 years now, and it works fine, but ideally I'd still like to get that darned screw out and put the original wheel back in.
If you manage to get yours out, I'd be very grateful to know how you did it.
Last resort would be to drill it out then use a tap to create a new thread the next size or 2 up and use a matching allen key screw of course.
Quoted from Mancave:Last resort would be to drill it out then use a tap to create a new thread the next size or 2 up and use a matching allen key screw of course.
This was my intention, but it's easier said than done, I'm afraid. I believe the set screw is stainless steel. I tried to drill it out myself, to no avail. I also took it to a machine shop where they had a drill press; they couldn't drill it out either.
When I have some time, I'd like to go back to this and try again, but my wooden replacement is still working well, so there's no pressing need, thankfully.

Take it back to the machine shop have them drill you a new hole next to the one that stripped out thread it and put in a new set screw.
Finally after searching for a long time i got me a project monopoly.
But many Plastics are cracked or broken so my question would be if anyone has some spares?
I think some Time in the Future i‘ll replace the PF with an NOS one but for now i’ll live with the damage.
I Need Ramp Protektors if anyone has some but First i’ll Fix them with some Epoxy.
I think despite the damaged inserts and Plastics it will come out pretty nice in the end
Started the teardown already:

I may have a few extra plastics. Can you take a picture of your broken ones that you need to replace?
Thanks for all the help. Haven’t got the set screw out yet but loosened it enough to get the flipper shaft back in
Maybe just drill and tap another hole and use an extra long set screw that allows extra threads / length sticking out of the tightened assembly.

Found my mint HUO Monopoly yesterday. So excited to be part of the club. Only issue I’ve had is it “froze” a couple of times when I’ve had two balls locked and the third ball goes in what I think is the community chest hole in the upper right corner of the Playfield just above the 3rd flipper. The game freezes and repeats “Lock is Lit” “Lock is Lit”. Any ideas?

What version of the code are you running?
Quoted from Lamprey:What version of the code are you running?
Let me check when I get home. Is their one version that is better than the other? I know whenever it lands in that hole, it only says “you moved 3 spaces” never another number if that helps. I thought I read where that only happened on a certain code
Apparently ROM 3.2 is broken, and you want to be using 3.01 or 3.03. It’s a shame too as 3.2 is a few years newer and had several enhancements and fixes.

Yep, sounds like 3.2 to me. You're going to need to get 3.03.
Ill get a 3.03 ROM for sure. Any idea what I will notice that is different between the two ? Incidentally, played four games today with zero issues. Go figure.
Quoted from gunstarhero:I use 3.03 and haven't had any stuck water works issues. There aren't many major gameplay changes from 3.01 tho so do what makes you feel best.
I'm curious about the 3.2 ROM tho. It has alot of improvements but apparently crashes? Does anyone run it?

Hi folks...
I'm having a problem with my Monopoly Opto Receiver board. My bank door optos have never worked. After some investigation, the underside board had a bent pin. Like someone mashed the connector and totally screwed up the pin. (See picture)
I bent the pin back, plugged it in, and saw a "flash" on the four led indicators on the underside of this board. I notice that if I put my fingers over the resistors on the board, the associated red led lights illuminate. When I take my fingers away, the led light illumination disappears and the game registers a "hit."
This suggests to me that the opto receiver board is probably shorted. Has anyone ever repaired this or a similar condition on this board? Any thread you can suggest I check?
Really would prefer not to buy a new receiver board as it seems rather pricey for what it is (Marco has it for $79!)
I'm looking for a left side apron decal for a Monopoly. Anyone happen to have one or know where I could get one?
I'm doing a complete tear-town & rebuild of a one that I just recently picked up. Pretty much all works, but filthy and needs some TLC. Does anyone have any words of wisdom with respect to the pop bumpers? All 6 are very sluggish or not working completely. Do I need to rebuild completely or is there some sort of general servicing that I can do?
Thanks!

Clean/adjust the leaf switches and replace the coil sleeves.

Take them apart, clean well, adjust a bit if needed. I’m sure they will be much more responsive after that

Those top 3 tske a beating and are almost always sluggish. As stated swap out sleeves and clean and adjust the leaf. Also check the fiber yoke and metal yoke as the metal ones can break. If all else fails buy new parts and rebuild them only takes bout 15 to 20 mins per bumper to rebuild.
I appreciate all the information from this thread. Made some great headway on Mods this week. Installed the backboard decal and game blades inside art as well as the monopoly man. Also converted fully to LEDs. Such an amazing transformation. Really updates the game. Super thrilled With the progress. Next is red armor and legs.

What kind of LEDs did you use? Like 2SMD? Lens Type (frosted, clear or none)?
Just curious as it looks a bit dark, but it's also hard to capture the true look of the game in pictures. Nice and clean though!

Very nice.
Great job.
Can you tell me about where these install? One of the biggest issues I'm having with my game as of now are balls getting stuck between the left ramp and the lower left red pop bumper. Right in that area resting on top of the plastic towards the lower part of the playfield (below the bumper).
My monopoly game does not clear the locked balls immediately after the game, but rather waits until after the match screen and then the music after the match screen. As SOON as the music ends, the game ejects the balls out of the lock.
Another thing I noticed is that "sometimes" when the ball is saved, the game does not automatically launch the launch the ball onto the playfield.
Is this normal behavior, or can someone recommend some switches or wiring to check for shorts etc?

They go at the top of the ramp entrances and under the Community Chest sign. If you look at the ebay auction pix they show some install shots.

That's pretty consistent with the behavior I observe on my game. I believe it should let you plunge a saved ball to take another shot at the scoop.
Got it - you mean the water works skillshot?
How about the locked ball behavior? Any idea there? Thanks for the details on the plastics... may order it.

The locked balls stay there like 30 seconds after your game ends. I thought it was an error also but it does that on everyone's machine it seems.

Hey guys, selling my Monopoly: $3000 picked up in Elk Grove California, just south of Sacramento. If you know anyone who has wanted to join the Monopoly club, this would be a nice game to get them into.
Super clean game with Comet LEDs, Borygard NVRAM, Titan rings and flipper rubbers and colored Cliffy posts, updated ROMs, nice PF, nice cab, plays 100% no errors. HUO? Not for sure but I’d imagine it’s never seen an arcade. Manual still stapled inside the cab and goody bag contents in the coin box. Much nicer than your average routed to death examples of this title!
Hit me up with pix or questions. Thanks!
Anyone have an extra bank door decal? I checked the usual places but all are out of stock. If anyone has a a high quality scan they can share, that would work too. Thanks for any help.
Latest upgrades to our Monopoly. Red powder coated lollipop rails, hinges, legs, shooter housing, and lock bar. And chrome T-molding on the head to brighten it up. Oh, and also custom instruction cards. Looks matching the great Lawlor game play now.

That looks really sharp! Your back glass looks brighter than most did you change that out with an LED?
No sir, just the fluorescent bulb. might get a tad bit of light from the chrome T-molding on the head. Changing from the black was a huge upgrade and it was cheap.
