Quoted from Isochronic_Frost:

Bad shape?! It’s dirty for sure, but I don’t see any major damage. The metal ramp is ugly but most of them get beat up and Marco has the decals for it.
Cabinet looks good, the display is most likely the aging HV circuit is failing as all the Data East’s are experiencing at this time. The caps are past their lifespans, rebuilding the HV will most likely fix it.
If the display stays on after a certain “warm up” period then that’s a dead giveaway. However a bad high voltage can also appear as if the display is outgassing.
I was able the measure the 100v output and view it fluctuating rapidly and not staying at a solid 100v which was the sign the display is good.

The display will look great briefly and flicker to being bad the vast majority of the time. The bottom display hasn't shown any signs of life yet.
I still haven't figured out the "Ball Missing" issue. Someone on FB suggested a bad transistor, but that's beyond my knowledge. The other two switches associated with the 3 through switches on the same transistor all aren't registering. So I think they may be correct. But I can't figure out how to test that transistor yet.

Anyone interested in a decal set? It’s minus the drop targets, $50 USD shipped worldwide

Mine has done the ball missing thing twice. Both time were a connectivity issue between boards.

We narrowed it down to a bad transistor on the board. We replaced the transistor and when we turned it on for the first time it popped the same transistor. That was 2 weeks ago and I haven't touched it since.

Can anyone tell me what bolts to use to hold the head down to the cabinet? My game didn't come with any and it looks like most data east games had some sort of twist assembly to hold the head down but mine/ ours seems to just use 2 bolts.

5/16th coarse bolts I was told

Just added mirror blades to my machine, had to modify a B/W set as the Stern/Data East sets aren’t suitable at all with the hinge bracket on this machine. Tight fit too but works in the end

Looks great!! Nice that your wireforms are powder-coated white!
My VUK wireform has a broken weld and I’d like to have it fixed. Can the people who repowdercoat do that?

No they don’t. I had my mechanic weld a wireform once then had it powdercoated

Hello All- found these NOS MNF target stickers in the bottom of my toolbox (!).

Where the surrounds are on the bends of the paper there is some dirt, but none of the decals themselves are coming up off the page.

These will work just fine, PM me if you need them and we'll figure out a price.

Thanks!
SS

New MNF member here! I have always been an EM collector, but our kids are getting older and are bored with the "antique" pins. I picked up a pretty decent game, I'm missing the top right cheerleader plastic and little stand off that goes below it- if anyone has an extra. I've recently developed an issue with my right drop bank I'm hoping you guys can help me with. On startup the test cycle says bad coil rt drop bank, but when it's testing you can see the coil try to energize but doesn't seen to get full power maybe? At the same time you can hear 3 "clicks" from the backbox. When you start play, the first few times while you're playing and the ball drains, you hear the clicking from the backbox, but at the coil there's no effort at all like at startup. I replaced the coil, with no difference. I'm kinda new to the SS games so please dumb down any help you can offer a newbie.
I'll add some pics of mine, I just need to take some.

That’s the only issue? Bad transistor maybe?
I know the clicking, my TA does that, but it works fine so I’ve just ignored it. Post in the Data East club too, there general technical questions are easily answered. MNF is a the second shortest run of games DA made, Torpedo Alley being the rarest of them all.

Here is my MNF. Thanks to allsportdvd I have the missing cheerleader headed my way from down under! Now to figure out how to test a transistor and where the one I need to test is. I have a paper copy of the owners manual coming also.

That’s one of 2 key ring fob, the other being a football. The correct plastic is a blimp riveted to a clear plastic. Looks like this.

I’ve got a few questions for fellow owners! Finally got a chance to apply the NOS decals. But then I noticed my targets are pretty chewed up. Are replacements available for the standups?

Notably the black foam all over my game just crumbles into bits now. Where can I buy pieces to replace this? Are you supposed to by a big sheet and cut it to fit? Also the foam behinds the standups that aboard the impact is totally gone. Definitely want to replace that since they get hammered.

The metal guard above the standups had some black tape the secured the plastic. Is that normal? I’ve never seen that tape anywhere else on a machine.

ANOTHER question. The support piece for the large field goal ramp. Mine has this little wood screws that obviously do not fit the support. Can anyone post pictures or know what size screw is supposed to hold it down? I can’t find most this info in the manual.

Just double checking on the back part, but is this how everyone else’s ramp is secured up top near the pop nest?

This game just seems to have lots of cobbled together pieces so I’m double checking everything!

Oh and finally, what is the part number for the cable for the Alphanumeric display? This one needs replacing sooner rather than later.

Thank you so much to all you MNF owners in advance

Hey Frost,
I took a couple photos to try and help out. I wasn't totally sure what you were referring to for a couple things so I just tried to duplicate your photos as much as I could.

Quoted from Isochronic_Frost:

Yeah, it looks as though I have the same stuff my targets as well. As far as your point about screws and various parts seeming patchwork, I've definitely noticed that in my machine. Several areas where the screws that were used were clearly just whatever someone had on hand.

Also, I wasn't sure which cable you meant for the display. Mine has several pinned connectors and a ribbon cable. See attached.

Interesting! So all the metal washers on my game should really be the white plastic caps.
That’s good to know. I just removed the ramp mount and will try to match up better fitting screws.
And some of the pictures of the black foam yours are worn away too. I was hoping someone knew what to use and where to get it to replace.

The ribbon cable was the one I need a part number for. I can’t seem to find JUST that particular ribbon cable

Yeah, no idea about the black foam.
As far as the cable, it just seems to be a standard ribbon cable. I saw "415" stamped on it, but nothing else. Not sure if thats helpful..

I have Monday Night Football Pinball Playfield Plastics. Probably 1 and 1/2 sets total. They are new, and there are many with the plastic covering on. The ones that do not have the covering have surface scratches that can probably be waxed out? Will sell individual plastics, message with wants and needs. Will picture and post soon in Market and Facebook group. More than is what pictured here.

I am running tight on room, and could let mine go. What are you looking to spend? See post #69 for pics. I'm in NM, but Fastenal's Blue line can handle shipping usually pretty cheap if you have a Fastenal location near you.

Well it looks as though I am going to be the new owner of a MNF pin. Have been looking for it for a while now, so I'm excited. It has not arrived yet, but I am sure it will need a new lockdown bar on the front, as it is pretty scratched up. Anyone know a good place to get a replacement?

Lockdown bars aren’t always terribly easy to source. Try to buff it/polish it. I think PBL sells them for like $100

Just realized this, but the hole in the Blimp is for a screw to push down the second plastic underneath it.
I had a problem with balls flying up the BOMB ramp so fast they wouldn’t register at the top. Screwed the plastic all the way open and now it pushed the balls back down at the top so they register! Very basic but clever fix by DE

I Polished mine. It's stainless which is a hard metal, you wont get it polished by hand very easy. I used a bench polisher, first with a cutting wheel/rouge to take out the scratches, the a polishing wheel and rouge to make it shine. I'm not sure if you can see it in my pics on post 69.

Yes, I do see that in post 69. Wow it really came out super shiny!
