I found a slightly melted 2 pin opto connector where someone soldered a second wire onto an existing wire. Can I replace with a molex and crimp the 2 that were soldered into one crimp?

Also how do you remove molex pins from the housing. Someone molexed a connector and haven't crimped it well

Haha, nice avatar/name! I totally wore Rude Dog shirts as a kid.

Crimping both onto a single pin is fine, though it can be kinda cumbersome holding them all in place while crimping. It's definitely doable though, I do it all the time.

Removing pins from the housing is a bit of a pain if you don't own a molex pin extractor. It's possible to cram a mini screwdriver or something similar in there and force it out, but it never comes out easily and won't be pretty. You might be possible to pull it off for just this one, though. Definitely invest in an extractor for future use!

If you don't have the removal tool you can either just snip the wires or you can cut the side of the molex with a razor knife, just slice the side until you can pull it apart. I'd just nip the wires and then crimp a new plug/receptacle.
