So now that the spammers have officially set up camp, does it make sense to either have an account verification process or even a 24/48/72 hour wait time from registration to being able to post? I've hit a few sites that make you a probationary user with read access.

    Fake Nike ads in 3.....2.....1.....

How about a signup CAPTCHA with a very basic pinball question? E.g., "Which of the following is a part on a pinball machine?"

(Posting potential multiple choice items here might be counterproductive...)

Pump the brakes pal! How else am I supposed to find out about sexy passport deals?

Sounds good to me, since I have now deleted 16 fake id ads AFTER retiring the user as a spammer. Ugh.

This is a Robin question though. Mods dont have the power to make that much of a change. I will certainly bring this to his attention though.

A wait period wont stop the spammers just delay them.

Probably an SQL injection issue right now..

I would advocate against a new user wait period. It solves the spam-account problem, yes, but there are better ways to do that.

If a new user can't post, he won't sign up. A lot of people lurk on forums until something pushes them to want their voice heard, then they sign up.
