Well I pulled the trigger on an LE. The CE's were just too far out of reach.

So while I am waiting for the machine, I thought it would be fun to line up some "upgrades" or "mods".

Curious on everyone's thoughts of what I should get first.

Out of the gate I am thinking some kind of sound upgrade and mirrors. Options for those?

What else would you consider and why?

Links/costs would be appreciated so others can benefit from this thread. A lot of times people will mention an upgrade/mod, and not how to find it (and yes, sometimes searches don't work well

Thanks advance for any intel/info!!!

Happy Holidays All!

For sound go to pinwoofer and get the the kit.

Worth the extra $45 for the "GT" amplifier over the "KO"? And why do they offer colors for the amplifier mounting bracket? It is installed inside the cabinet, right?

#4 2 years ago

Ya it installs where coin box is, just fun to match color up with machine. I have a ko and a gt and both are excellent

#5 2 years ago

I added mirror blades and they look awesome. Cant go wrong with the official blades either that have the poster Artwork.

If you are going to add a sub which I highly recommend, you need to go with the GT

LIORs mods are great

Pin Stadiums Concert Editions are another must.

#7 2 years ago

All right, update. Ordered the following:

1) Pinwoofer GT kit
2) Pin Stadium CE
3) Little Shop of Games Skull, Bullet Shooter Rod, and Sculpted Action Button Piece

The last thing I am thinking are mirror blades. Thoughts of which ones to choose? I know some have patterns and some are just clear. But the clear ones come in colors too. Thoughts?

#8 2 years ago

Might wanna wait on ordering mirrors until you get the machine. Mine is so tight mirrors will not fit. I put in art blades from tilt graphics and can only get one protector in until I lift it 3 inches

#9 2 years ago

Highly recommend these . If you buy jjp blades they come with them.

Good to know. I wonder if other people were able to get them to fit. In other words is the constraint machine specific?

I do have the protectors and they are WELL worth the $. My issue is not always remembering to use them

I have a few mods for GnR. I also offer custom paint jobs on Liors mods. pics here www.modfatherpinball.com Chuck

I've got mirror blades and they fit just fine. For pinstadiums get the xeno mounts (they can be a pain to initially set up but the work great). I also recommend the tibetan breeze fans and pinwoofer.

Also, if you're into DIY mods, check out this video I made:

If you go down this route, make sure your splices are solid and don't forget a power supply for the LEDs (mentioned in the description of the video).

Pinstadium concert edition ultra+ for gnr comes with Xeno, just fyi. Next run of those will be in the next month or two.

P.s. That's a great video!!

One of my favorite mods so far have been these plastic protectors from Freddy’s Pinball Paradise! I love the pop of color they add and the reflection from the mirrored side blades is an added bonus!

Yeah, I certainly prefer this look over the stock black plastic caps, but the potential install for these has kept me from purchasing. In all seriousness, how bad is the install process (how time consuming)?!

I did first 3 in 30 minutes, when he came out with the next set I ordered those and probably same. Set aside an hour and you'll probably end up making me look slow.

So I had just ordered the pinstadiums package. Will it include the Xeno mounts by default or is this something I had to request?

I emailed them to make sure I was ordering the right kit, and the gal that responded did so in English. Maybe just email them directly and order that way. They were extremely friendly so I’m sure they’ll get you taken care of! I’ll be ordering my GZ plastics from here for sure.

Scott told me that the Xeno mounts are included by default.

#28 2 years ago
Quoted from parsonsaj:

It's worth noting that if you have LIOR's stage kit mods, it's likely you won't be able to use the Xeno mount on the right side. OR you can use the right Xeno but not the right speaker accessory. Unfortunately, that particular mod interferes with the placement of the Xeno on that side, which in honestly is just another reason to potentially consider Sven's kit instead. No issues using the Xenos with his kit and I'd argue it looks better than LIORs as well!

#29 2 years ago

Freddys site does have English. It’s not the most user friendly site but if you go to shop, somewhere down the left side there’s a German and British flag for languages. Then the shop descriptions mostly turn to English.

They sell a full colored kit on their website. It’s somewhat tricky to find because of the translation issues but I promise it’s on there.

On the earlier runs you had to specifically request them and they were extra. I believe on the later runs it is included. You can always reach out to Scott at pinstadium to see what you got.

What about for the rest of us that are just struggling?

#37 2 years ago

At the rate I am going, could have bought a CE with all this Mod'ing . To be honest though, I like how this LE is going to shape up.

Updated list based on your recommendations out there...

1) Pinwoofer GT kit
2) Pin Stadium CE
3) Little Shop of Games Skull, Bullet Shooter Rod, and Sculpted Action Button Piece
4) Sven's updated stage kit
5) Freddy's lighted (color) pinball protectors

Still struggling on the topper. Here are the choices I see out there in the wild:

1) Flame/Sound bar that comes with the CE
2) The Sold Out Show signage one
3) The stadium light one with the moving lights

Of those three, I LOVE the stadium light one. I also have a challenge because my ceiling in my basement is really low. So why don't I get that one? Price. I just can't see me forking over almost 2K for that topper. Wife would kill me!

Are there other options out there that I haven't seen?

Also need side mirrors too. I think I am going with either silver mirrors or dark mirrors. Not any with graphics. I feel there is enough going on on that machine from a graphic perspective. Once I get the mirrors and topper, I think I will be done (for now...

Thanks again for all of the input...

Dave

Forget about the price of the Topper, it’s worth it in person! Everyone who comes over notices it first thing and love it! Matching powder coated coin door is also another favorite..yep it adds up quick in add-ons passing $4k now…but love it

If you're in that price range for a topper then you are also a candidate for Lior's when it comes out. It will be stunning I'm sure, and not over 2k per his post on his thread. There's some previews... Don't know the height however so that could be a deal breaker for you...

P.s. Your list didn't include pinmonks fans, So unless you're modding this LE to just look at it, when you actually play it more than 20 minutes, you will be adding fans at some point. They Do an excellent job of cooling the flippers to minimize fade. Essential gear.

I "made" a couple of mods .
A belt buckle for the apron stuck on with magnets and a key ring , which I super glued to a bracket . Both off eBay .

It’s on purpose. I adjusted it to make the left ramp more accessible from the left flipper. It was an impossible shot on my game as-is. Admittedly, I do need to take it back down a bit now that I’m getting better at the game!

So this amazes me that JJP has not addressed this issue at this point. Has anyone contacted Jack directly on this issue? Seems pretty easy to address and I would think he wouldn't want to be known for selling a 10K+ pin that only can be played for 20 minutes?

Maybe it's a USA thing ?
We run 240 volts down here , and I can easily hit every shot , even after playing for 5 hours straight

First, Merry Christmas!
Second,
Careful your thread's going to go sideways and turn into a JJP bashing thread. Fast.... I like this thread and prefer to keep on topic. The fade starts after 20 minutes and ramps up and is very noticeable by 45 minutes of playing. I think even with my fans if I'm playing a lot and hit a heavy multiball long song, Maybe like Chinese democracy, where i'm constantly flipping with six balls on the field and multiple hitting my flippers at the same time repeatedly during that song with occasional trapping, then towards the end the flippers are definitely weaker. I need a break after a game like that anyway so I get to recover with a break and the game flippers recovers quickly with the fans.

Let's just end it with saying enjoy your game play it and you decide. Maybe u will have the same results as screaminr !!
I'm a big believer in not fixing what ain't broke So I think it's smart to wait and see what happens... Then you can decide, or call Jack, or start a new thread on this topic or join one of the many out there.
Meanwhile you can read about the fans and the background on flipper fade from PinMonk in detail here: https://pinmonk.com/products/tibetan-breeze-jjp-pin-3-flipper-cooling-kit
He would be happy to share with you his data charts on flipper coil temps over game time with and without fans from all his significant testing and research with Karl/ iepinball iepinball , zaphX , etc.

Happy New Year!

P.s. Your list didn't include pinmonks fans, So unless you're modding this LE to just look at it, when you actually play it more than 20 minutes, you will be adding fans at some point. They Do an excellent job of cooling the flippers to minimize fade. Essential gear.

Just to be clear , I'm not bashing jjp . I love the company . You're the one saying they have an issue with their flippers .
I've never had a flipper strength / fade issue with the three jjp games I have owned .
Maybe I haven't noticed the issue because I have been able to hit all the shots , but if I can hit all the shots , in my opinion there is no problem .

I absolutely don't want people to bash JJP. It sounds like there are different experiences with different people. Wonder if the power coming into the house plays into that?

I think I will get the machine and see where it goes from here. I do appreciate the insight though.

I used to own a Monopoly and had the opposite problem. I had to get a voltage regulator to make it so the balls wouldn't break stuff.

Thanks!

Dave

Oh, Merry Xmas as well!

The data sheet is on there. Here's right flipper temps over time with and without fans.... How that translates to your gaming experience remains to be seen...! Maybe you don't have that particular model flipper coil in yours screaminr
Is it possible jjp upgraded to a different part for 240hz? Maybe.
