Where are you in NJ? I have three near me (one only blocks away); two in Bergen County and one in Hudson that I know of.
You could go to any one of those and certainly save on the shipping.

Mine didn't lift right out of the box. I went back to HF and got a bottle of hydraulic jack fluid, filled it up, and that did the trick. It's worked perfectly ever since.

I would say put in a little at a time, and check your progress as you go to get it to where it's performing as it did before. The first time I added fluid I overfilled it, to the point that the table would go up, but wouldn't go down. I then pushed on the table (with some force, I might add...), and the plug blew out and oil was sprayed on the underside of the table, making something of a mess.
I would also recommend using a small funnel, as it's difficult to get the oil in that hole at the correct angle under the table.
