If they were the same price what would you rather have?

A mid-level, mid rated, late 80's completely shopped, LED'd, and modded "mordern" style Pin. Think Gold Wings, Hollywood Heat, Comet, Strange Science....

    -or-

An all original late 70's widebody that is completely working but needs cosmetics, LED's, etc. Think Paragon, Superman, Roller Disco...

Price range is $1000-1300 so you can have an idea of the competing type games.

    Thoughts are appreciated.

Funny thing, everyone dogs the wide bodies. But try to find a decent one for sale. I cant!

    They intrigue me.

    1. they are beautiful. The art and nostalgia on most of them is top notch.
    2. they are slower and more forgiving, in general. So you don't have to be a "player" to enjoy them.
    3. #2 means my kids will be able to enjoy them and learn the game using them without constantly getting mad about losing
    4. user friendly means more of my friends can enjoy them too

But they do NOT (with the exception of space invaders for $$$) have the bells and whistles, ramps, and gimmicks of "modern" games. Those all bring the fun aspect with them as well. I'm not a player, but i'm not a novice either....

Still don't know which I'm going to choose...

superman will be a faulty money pit, roller disco is just plain boring. paragon is a true classic so i doubt it will be in this price range now. Maybe hotdoggin if you can find one?

Interested in your statement about Superman. Why do you say that?

so you would you buy paragon needing a once over if it were available over a modern one with bells and whistles?

    I would take the mid-level 80's pin.

Future Spa or how about just a little newer early 80s Sys80 like Volcano?

Hopefully going to look at a pretty nice volcano Saturday morning. Played it? Is it fun?

Yes I have one. It is a lot of fun and has a great art package.

Atari games are quirky systems, although the system 2 boardset in superman isn't too bad once it's up and running (as long as the MPU is free of battery damage).

Paragon is certainly a challenging game. The other 70s games you listed, I would probably pass on.

Lately, I've been defaulting to newer games, unless an older one stands out in some way.
