Modding Rollergames Software

Anyone have any tools for modding the Rollergames code? I would like to make scoring the teams start sudden death instead of sudden death happening randomly. The game doesn't work well for tournaments because of the random chance of sudden death so I want to make sudden death something the player needs to qualify for. Anyone with knowledge or tools for this here on Pinside?

I am not aware of any specific tools, but pinmame would be a good start. My layman's understanding is that you trigger the change you want (start sudden death) while monitoring changes in memory for where this is triggered. Then you modify the code to make this change at a different point when you want it to occur. This entire process I described above may take dozens of hours or more for a seemingly simple change, if it's even possible.

Pinside member soren has made similar competition rom changes to other System 11 and WPC games, maybe he would be willing to look at Rollergames. Here are a few links for some examples:

I would like the software to also check the pit when doing a ball search. At the moment sometimes the ball goes in, it says don't flip but never shoots the ball out. Very annoying!

Just btw does anyone else's machine do this too or is it just mine?

It sounds like you need to adjust the switch in the pit. I haven't experienced this exact problem but I will try to replicate it later.

I sent a message to Soren and he said he had no tools for doing this and that it is a very tedious process at the binary level. I might give it a try if someone gave me the raw binary.

Correct, there are no specialty tools to hack these programs. He is probably using the method I stated above.

Get yourself familiar with pinmame, load up the program and play around.
