Quoted from Mike_J:Did you create a business plan?
It's as follows
Go on Pinside and look for a whale!
Once whales(s) are found pay off 30k of credit card debt
Buy beer
Pay someone else 25k to make said machine

Quoted from ImNotNorm:Can't land a whale....can't get a loan...
Time to do the big dirty John!!
Hoping John changes his mind and gives a big whale till October to respond as this thread is keeping me entertained during the NHL off season.
Quoted from greatwichjohn:Got my napkins ready for your ideas & my own standing by. The whales are out there Ben, you just have to find the right one. Here is a song for the summer & pinball:
Quoted from Ericpinballfan:John, John. Greatwich?
Bro, skip this pinball idea right now.
I have a hot tip for you.
Skip the pinball and go into the microbrewery bussiness. Much more money to be made than in pinball.
Have beer names that reflect pinball games and some art and your set.
I would support that idea over your pinball dreams. There's a whale ale out there for you.
This is worse then his pinball idea! He would drink himself into bankruptcy! Then he will be in personal as well as business bankruptcy!
Quoted from greatwichjohn:It has to be US$. I guess if I use readily available pinball parts, & electronics your logic is what?
Well like your idea I have no logic to my question other then if you were speaking in terms of CAD then a US "whale" would only be investing around 77k with the exchange rate. A difference of 23k but again you're looking for that whale that doesn't care about money so 23k is irrelevant!
On a serious note .... what is your go to beer brand?
Quoted from greatwichjohn:That being said I almost always go for the lowest price
I envy those that can drink the cheaper beers. I got hooked on the imperial stouts aged in bourbon and they dont come cheap but I love the taste. The cheaper beers just don't have enough flavor to them. I would save a lot of money if I liked the cheaper styles.
Quoted from greatwichjohn:It will be a custom pinball machine. Do not know what more you want me to say. Guess that logic goes towards all the pinball machines made already.
I believe he's eluding to the fact that if you're using ramps from another game then your game will not be 100% custom.
This can go either way as all pinball manufacturers have reused parts in other machines but not sure about ramps. Ramps are typically unique to a machine???
Quoted from greatwichjohn:Ben is busy
Ben is not busy, everyone knows Spooky doesn't work on the code until after the game is released!!! (too soon?)
All in good fun Ben!
Quoted from greatwichjohn:I got many metal shops, powder coating, cabinet builder & finisher. Along with my contractors from the past. Along with many personal build skills that people do not believe.
You got it all John …… well, except the whale.
Quoted from greatwichjohn:Yes the money for the project will be with another party
Let me guess .... this other party is your bank?
BTW - I believe Pat Lawlor is no longer under contract with JJP, you can get him since he's "retired"!
Quoted from blueberryjohnson:I am not of this opinion. I am, however, a snob.
I agree with ya but in the same aspect I never ridicule anyone for drinking cheap beer. I am envy of them as they enjoy it (taste vary per person) and spend a hell of a lot less money then I do on it!
Good for John that he likes that type of beer as with his limited income he can still enjoy having beer without having to splurge too much.
Quoted from benheck:This has to be some sort of epic troll. He actually thinks a license can be negotiated and obtained in a week. He cannot be for real... Right?
Well Ben I mean here in the States you can go to the DMV and get your license the same day so WHY NOT???
Quoted from iceman44:“Trailer Park Trash” is too limiting.
Something like “Redneck Heaven” would include trailer trash but a whole lot more.
“Redneck Yacht Club” boating mode
NASCAR, Rodeos and Bull Riding
“Redneck Riviera”.
“Deliverance Mode”.
It’s endless great stuff! Here are some
Of the girls from Redneck Heaven in Fort Worth.
[quoted image]
Is that one of those Tilted Kilts pubs? Had few of them back East that the ladies all had to wear the "kilts" and they weren't servers. They walked about the place just talking to the patrons.
So apologies for having to ask .... was gone for a week and come back to 500+ post, someone give me the Cliff Notes on the past week
Quoted from Only_Pinball:Pretty much same stuff you read the week before
LOL
I expected to come back to ...
New dates
Iceman was banned again (welcome back, btw, ice)
John is looking for a new liver and not a whale
Quoted from blueberryjohnson:[quoted image]
What percentage of these comments are GWJ?
But if you have wine once a day it's healthy ..... go figure!
Quoted from Dee-Bow:Who could downvote "who'down for a beer"?!? You must really hate your life red wonderwoman logo guy!
[quoted image]
That's a damn shame!
Quoted from greatwichjohn:Had my nice discount Nova Scotia pork chops for supper with a Guinness.
Quoted from PantherCityPins:Dude seriously. That’s a serious fire hazard. I’m not trying to bust your chops,
Did everyone miss this ..... John cooking pork chops and Pinball Gizzard trying to help John and not trying to "bust your chops:"???
The thread that just keeps on giving!
Quoted from greatwichjohn:All the years I have been drinking, no one has ever called me a drunk!
Maybe they did but you were too drunk to remember!
Quoted from greatwichjohn:The coach & I will talk about a bunch of stuff next week. His ideas & thoughts on a artist. I will see if the file can be printed, if not we will find another way forward with Jon Norris. The bar was pretty empty this afternoon just after opening. Home now & beer count today will remain at 3.
Lots of my real life would be on par with the TPB, or what I have seen in my area. I thought the song video was good if you have not watched it.
John, apologies if I am not following the situation, couldn't you send John's file to a local print shop and have them print it out. Typically to have something printed out is not expensive at all. Just a thought !!!
(note: on beer #1 .... I am on the West Coast and it's a 18.3% abv beer.)
Prost!
Quoted from greatwichjohn:It did not work out behind the scenes with Jon & Doug. It will get worked out hopefully before next week.
So does this mean Jon is no longer contributing to the project and, if so, does his name need to be removed from the subject line?
Quoted from Roostking:He will never live this down haha.
Agree, but for different reason. I thank "coach" for stepping up and providing some of the best entertainment Pinside has ever seen. "Coach" will always be remembered for this thread and for what it brings ..... or doesn't!
Quoted from Pinbub:No, you get 3 beers though. Contact coach and he'll get the money on the way, or not.
Only 3? Can you toss in a few pork chops?
Quoted from greatwichjohn:If you guys thought everything would be smooth sailing every single day
John, I don't believe that there was one person who "thought everything would be smooth sailing" any day nonetheless "every single day".
No beers or pork chops were consumed during the writing of this post
The content of this thread and the "updates" of the project build reminds me a lot of this thread........
Quoted from cdnpinbacon:The hot plate cooking near used paint is bad...likely noxious rags are nearby as well. Can't you at least cook your meat in the furthest corner, away from the paint cans John? Also please have a window or door open.
you act as if thought it's lead paint or something harmful!
Quoted from blueberryjohnson:So no more trailer? No more park? No more trash?
Well John said it's leaning towards a Texas theme so it will still have all of these!
Quoted from fastpinball:This thread reads like a debate with an AI bot trained solely on reading THIS pinside thread.
Aaron
FAST Pinball
Aaron, would you be willing to create a blacklist and make John the only person on it? It would go so well with the events of this build.....or not!
Quoted from iceman44:He’s doing his pin project his way.
Correction, he's doing YOUR pin his way! And I for one thank you for the entertainment!
I hope you get something in return but from his past endeavors I wouldn't bet on it!
Quoted from blueberryjohnson:It would seem we have the first official change to the plan.
or not
Quoted from LORDDREK:Don’t start a new account. Log in to your old one at googlemail.com and retrieve that shit…
Quoted from vdojaq:Hotmail is your e-mail account , Outlook was you mail server/reader.
You can use your hotmail anywhere.
What is the problem?
7000+ post later and it amazes me there's still people that are TRYING to use common sense. Not part of the plan!
Quoted from Roostking:This is such a f****** joke. In all his years in industry he still dont know how to do a white wood
"In all his years in the industry" have you ever read a success story that John was part of?
Quoted from Roostking:No, but he talks all the time , how hes been in the industry for years, like he knows what hes talking about.
Key point there is .... "LIKE he knows what hes taking about".
Quoted from gjm:This is preventing him:[quoted image]
No, he's preventing him!
Quoted from iceman44:We are working on a Rubik’s Cube here.
Gonna take a while to master all the moves and intricacies of a project like this.
I do appreciate all the help thrown John’s way.
No idea how it ends up but something charitable will be part of the journey as well.
Well said!
I think what really makes this so entertaining is the fact so many people actually want to help and, for the most part, John is like, nope "the plan is...".
In the end Ice, all that matters is that you're satisfied with whatever it is that you get! Technically John never said the "whale" would receive a working machine!
So is it too early to discuss what John will charge for the topper to the machine?
Quoted from ReadyPO:John, try PASSWORD
or maybe your birthday
Quoted from Beechwood:Due to complicated technical issues, GWJ is unable to respond.
He needs to update his password on pinside to post from home. Its a minor setback but may be cleared up in a week or two. Its been figured into the plan.
Carry on.
He should just start with a fresh ID as opposed to going through the trouble of having to reset his password! Oh wait, he's expecting Robin to do this for him!
Quoted from Methos:How exactly did the password snafu start in the first place?
Methos come on man pay attention to the thread!
Quoted from Beechwood:I don't know what you guys see, but I see PROGRESS!!!
That's some rose colored lenses!
Quoted from Beechwood:I'm in my happy place, lights down with pins shining and blinking in all their attract glory. KBS in my cup, and old 1930's-40's music on. I love it because it reminds me of such a simpler time.
Then I realized, this is why we love this thread. GWJ is old school, but at the same time his simple way of thinking is refreshing. Modern life is crazy, and this thread is a reminder of how we should all take a step back and enjoy what we have. Just for what it is: a hot dog, a beer, friends playing pinball...,simple is sometimes better.
How dare you turn this thread into positive nonsense? Might be time for you to switch from KBS to Bud
Quoted from pookycade:This is a little past date. But take heed they are waiting for you down there John. Make sure to arrange curbside pickup ahead of time to help stock the reveal.[quoted image]
I have a car that resembles that!
Quoted from SLCpunk2113:I am almost three years into my home brew. Currently wiring the second iteration of white wood. Things are pretty physically finalized but I’ve got code, sound, and animations ahead of me. I’d estimate that I’m 50% of the way there. I can only spare a few hours a week to the project which is about the pace this project is going so I’d predict if this ever gets finished it will be six years from now. You guys gunna stick it out?
Amateur !!! You should've reached out to John and asked him to map out a plan for you. You would've been done 2.5 years ago and recovered from an acute Salmonella.
Quoted from greatwichjohn:As for the question on beer pricing it is set by every province. Busch beer is also cheap here in the can, & I drank a good share years ago.
John, I know you drink Guinness occasionally, so do you drink Busch, Bud, Oland due to them being in your budget or would you prefer to drink higher end beers?
Quoted from mtn-:Should have rolled that asparagus with bacon. Mmm
Boursin Cheese and asparagus wrapped with prosciutto
Quoted from Bryan_Kelly:We had creek porn! We had a creek that ran past our property and we played there all the time as kids. Found porn quite frequently stashed in the bushes. Pages were frequently stuck together. Took for granted it was because of the weather. We were young and had no clue.
Quoted from Bryan_Kelly:Does anyone even care anymore about the pinball machine being built here?
Obviously not
