My brother is a Vegan, I like meat products. The beer bash toy is on the left & the big newton ball stays. Same with 3 spinners.
Quoted from greatwichjohn:Jon Norris keeps releasing more playfields designed by him. People should follow his Facebook account, lots of good stuff. Jon will receive $500 USD to his charity for each pin built on mostly his design layout 3 Spinners. Maybe have the coach have a cheque in Austin for some publicity towards Jon charity cat choice. My brother has rescued a bunch of stray & feral cats at his home there.
Just got back from the local store no deals. So I hit another bar for 3 Oland Beers, some nickel bets (lost $17.50), & got some TNT pepperoni from the butcher shop for supper. Ate it walking back to the workshop, & had 6 crows follow me endlessly from the park & down the street. One was lucky enough to get a tiny end of TNT pepperoni.
Ok what is a "Nickel bet" and how can you lose $17.50 on them? Dude that us some good money for decent food.
How often do you nickel bet?
Quoted from TreyBo69:I will make a suggestion (because ideas are easy)
[quoted image]
Knock back beers at a beer can bash toy. Every shot to the can makes a can opening noise. Light up 6 inserts shaped like a six pack. Every 6 hits starts a multiball.
Flippers reverse cause your drunk after downing 6 beers.
Quoted from Pinbub:Will the feral cats be at the big reveal party? I'm also curious what your brother had for breakfast. We don't hear much about him except that he has a driveway,.... and now feral cats. Somehow I think the feral cats are a bread crumb.
Homage to Bad Cats ?
Entertainment, & I am never lucky at gambling. Video Lottery Terminals (VLT's). I bet the minimum 5 cents a spin, the serious gamblers (everyone else bets usually 50 cents to $2.50 a spin. It drives them crazy! Had no luck today, so I did not get another beer after 3, or put more money in. Played on 3 of the 6 at the bar, & these ones were doing nothing. I play a few times a week, & you can print out a ticket to insert into another VLT. Why do you think WMS got out of pinball? Most people complain about the cost of playing pinball, but will insert big dollars on gambling. 3 beers is about 1.5 hours of gambling, spent more on the 3 beers. 70 cents US = $1 CDN

No $3 off deal for food at the store, proceeds to drop $35 for three beers and gambling. Ends up eating a processed meat log accompanied by rabid crows.
Just another day in the life....

So you lost $17.50, a nickel at a time? Holy fuck man. Thats a problem.
Quoted from Roostking:So you lost $17.50, a nickel at a time? Holy fuck man. Thats a problem.
Nope, all part of the plan.

It is a fun life living in poverty! Still got to enjoy life while still sucking in air, & drinking beer. Sunday is a holiday (Thanksgiving) so I will be having fast food. No discount foods until Monday.
Got a Casino here that I use to take the wife for all you can eat buffet before Covid. But they started to raise the prices.

All the birds are healthy in Nova Scotia except the bats, which are slowly recovering.

Did it ever occur to you that you might not actually be in poverty if you didn't spend that kind of money a nickel at a time, that is nuts. Netflix is 10 bucks a month, watch some movies, drink beer AND eat better. Win win win!

There’s a reason the claw in most arcades (including mine) is the highest revenue machine. Winning amongst the absolute assuredness of losing does something for the human psyche. Netflix you know you are losing $10 a month. The Claw ? Well you’ll probably also lose, but you could win. We purposely set our claw so our income = our prize costs. You help make everyone’s day a little bit better that way.

Here is the info on VLT games: https://www.alc.ca/content/alc/en/our-games/video-lottery.html
Legal gambling killed off most bars & bowling alleys having pinball & video games to play many years ago. You are lucky to find coin op pool tables & jukebox in a few bars.
Having some of the donated beer at the workshop tonight. Blue, save the Olands beer.
Sociable is our way of saying cheers by raising your beverage at a bar in Nova Scotia. Good way to promote more drinking! https://www.nsbuzz.ca/fooddrink/top-halifax-nova-scotia-bars-and-pubs/

John how much is a pint of Guinness at the bar ? Do they serve 20oz imperial pints or the smaller US 16oz?
My local pub used to charge $5 for 16oz. 2 years later (after Covid)they now charge $7. That’s stupid expensive to me because (24) 14.9 oz nitro cans costs about $43 at the beer store.
Quoted from greatwichjohn:The panel board is stored until the second round of Pinball Life parts
That is the saddest picture I've ever seen on pinside.

GWJ,
Have you seen pictures of Las Vegas? Have you by chance been there? In any event, they have built massive casinos there costing billions. Why? Because gambling does not favour the gambler….stop wasting your money on nickel gambling and do something special for your wife.
.
The panel board will slowly come to life, maybe before the end of the month, or not. There will be the third order from Pinball Life this month. A Guinness at the bar is about $7 USD, I usually have 2 or 3. It will be better when you get 2 free oysters with each one, Thursdays 4 - 6 pm at my favorite bar. I just use the lemon on them as a garnish, not the sauce. Hopefully the special returns this fall.

I do keep the wife happy. Will get her next suitcase of bud cans (36) on Monday. I get the wrath when the beer runs out in the slum apartment fridge.
Quoted from greatwichjohn:I do keep the wife happy. Will get her next suitcase of bud cans (36) on Monday. I get the wrath when the beer runs out in the slum apartment fridge.
Why not get the double double 48 can bad boy and live even MORE stress free!
Quoted from greatwichjohn:The coach will likely reach out to me at his convenience. So far the coach has roughly $2.2k USD towards the build, & donated $200 USD towards stocking the pop machine with bottled beer for me & the team for September & October.
That is pretty cool of Coach. How full is the pop machine now that we are in to October?
Quoted from greatwichjohn:I do keep the wife happy. Will get her next suitcase of bud cans (36) on Monday. I get the wrath when the beer runs out in the slum apartment fridge.
This can't be real.
He has a wife living in a slum apartment and she's happy only as long as she has her 4-5 buds a day. When she runs out - she goes all Calypso on him.
Can't be real - he has to be trolling us.

You forgot that she has pre-boiled eggs as well. Its quite the set up.
Quoted from miracleman:That is the saddest picture I've ever seen on pinside.
At least it's not on foam.
36 suitcase of Bud is all we see on the East Coast. We saved all her bags of her hardboiled eggs, & her frozen dinners without power for 48 hours. Today [email protected] confirmed the second order is on its way with Multimorphic boards. Beer fridge is still full, only had 1 beer at the workshop. I bought another 48 Blue bottles, maybe part of the team will have a few Sunday. Beer total today was 4.
Quoted from vdojaq:Oct 8th. No work in this machine at all in Oct so far?
See you in a month for the same question.

Looking for a metal fabricator now. It’s all according to plan.
Quoted from LORDDREK:Looking for a metal fabricator now. It’s all according to plan.
Keep up, the fabricator is on vacation in Greece for a week.
No rush, the plan is working.

Would you share a photo of one of these beer suitcases? You mention them often. It's not a concept with which I'm familiar.
Quoted from TreyBo69:Pass. I have an existing project I already fiddle with when I'm not shit posting online.
It does look like a fun design though. I do kinda want to put a very rough version of it together lol.
But your existing project doesn't have a ready-made home in a thread with more posts than the cornerstone bond and elwin bond threads combined.
Think of the exposure.
Man, just whew. It's all going according to plan. This either makes a surprise happy ending, or it dies.
When do we start making nickel bets on an end date?
John, I appreciate your effort but your out of touch with reality.
Quoted from blueberryjohnson:But your existing project doesn't have a ready-made home in a thread
Think of the exposure.
And think of the opportunity to influence everyone’s culinary habits !
To #JonNorris how are you feeling about this project? I'd hate to offer up a playfield design only to see it go up in flames.
I wonder if John's vegan brother is similarly the yin to John's yang in other ways.
Wealthy, teetotaler, stressed out, meticulous, hotheaded, etc.
Could make for a great sitcom.
Or a great Stern pro level TPF game theme.

#greatwichquote
Quoted from pookycade:That is just meta enough I can get behind it, even put dollars towards it. I think the game should be delivered to John at TPF or not, auction it off to charity or not. This way we can assure that there is a plan and a machine is delivered therefore ensuring John is successful no matter what happens next on his build. In fact it would just all be part of the plan. I like it ! I nominate TreyBo69 to lead the effort.
Someone needs to sketch this out on a bar napkin (preferably from Halifax) for posterity.
Anyone have a Fast Pinball board we can use for prototyping ?
I’ve got the fast boards. Sounds like trey is out tho.. except for maybe some advising role. John has to agree to do the callouts tho, or a good impersonator? I’m getting more tempted by the day to make this happen lol. For a small team that actually does want to bust ass every day instead of drinking and gambling, definitely doable with an existing layout to get enough of something done to be a hoot to play for those that have followed the saga
I have a cut piece of birch plywood that I've had for two years, thinking the whole time I'm going to make one of my own. Maybe I can retheme it... Or not.
Jon Norris has a master plan for his designs. Not my place to spill the beans. The coach knows what is going on with this build & the game(s) will be built in a very short time frame. Ready for play in Texas at my brothers house for SXSW, & then up to TPF show in 2023.
Everything is slowly being ordered from Pinball Life, & all the main stuff for the panel should be here before the end of October. The coach was not asked or expected to drop $10k USD towards his game. At this time I have clearly stated what he has invested so far towards the build (almost all parts which people see), & beer donation. Another request of $1k USD towards more stuff is being asked for this week, & so on.
