Mnf rottendog display problem

Just picked up a data East mnf. It has a rottendog display. I have missing characters. Missing the same characters on the upper and power display. Any insight on to what this can b? Ribbon cable? Other connectors? Tried to take a pic but not showing up.

Reseat the display ribbon cable on both ends to see if there is an improvement.

Well I already did that. But the second time around worked like a charm. Fixed! Thanks.

If it happens again, scrub the male pins on the boards with alcohol and a new toothbrush and replace the ribbon cable.
