Quoted from herg:I agree that yellow would look pretty good. Pretty much anything other than green would look better, in my opinion.
Yeah, until it's full color - I'll probably go with a yellow/gold color....or maybe red!
Quoted from altan:This.
And do the insert lights fade or act solid on and solid off?
There are various settings for the inserts to mimic incandescent fade. If I remember correctly, there are 3 different fade speed options, or LED-style on/off.
Quoted from jwo825:I saw this too. My OCD would make me sand it before I brought it inside and set it up.
It's the bottom. WHO CARES.
It's pretty common for games to have paint overspray on the bottom.
Quoted from gaspumprob:Ok i have a question.
I reviewed the video that someone posted and it looks as though the DMD is displayed in upscaling no dots. if this is the case I am really excited! Does the display settings have this feature or are my eyes getting worse?
Thanks,
Rob
It's clearly dots. Time for an eye doctor appointment!
Quoted from cleland:Anybody that ordered through Pinball Sales get their game yet?
I hope to be one of the first when the Black trims start coming off the line.
Katie at PS told me that about 20 of theirs have shipped. I'm apparently in the "first batch" but I guess not in the first 20. I've been told "I'll know by next week" for months now. Maybe I'll find out this week lol
Quoted from epthegeek:I'm taking the controversial "don't pester the distro and just wait" angle, personally.
I did that for about a year....and had multiple "next week"s. At this point with them being built & shipping - they should have solid ETAs at this point.
Quoted from cleland:Let me know what/when you find out, I assume your trim is the gold.
Why wouldn't it be gold!?
Quoted from epthegeek:If you weren't pestering them, how did you get the "next week"?
I didn't pester them until after the new year. That's when I felt that I had waited & been patient enough....I wanted answers considering they've had my full payment since last summer. That's when I started Emailing, and every time it's "they're shipping soon, we'll have answers next week" or "I'll be in touch next week" ....and then I don't hear anything - so I keep pestering.
Quoted from epthegeek:Because it's not going to make it go any faster and I try to avoid being annoying in general.
I don't want to be annoying either, but c'mon...there should be some answers at this point now that things are moving. They know how many games are coming from Stern each week - they should know how many of those are for their orders...they know where I am on the list. I don't want to hear "I'll know next week" anymore...I just want an answer. Will I get it next week? Next month? A few months? This info should be known at this point and shared with the customers.
Quoted from pmWolf:What's the story with ColorDMD and the MMR? I'm kind of out of the loop.
Do they work together?
Game comes with a Color LCD Display. There will be a code update that will give the game full color. Not compatible with ColorDMD, but it won't need to be.
Quoted from smassa:Omg the start button is a lil off center. Man some of you guys need to relax and just have fun with the game.
Seriously. Anyone obsessing over that or crying about it is a person I want to punch in the face.
Quoted from pin-tastic:What is the deal with the over spray or whatever it is on the underside of the game, have seen multiple machines posted that look the same ?
Every game ever looks like this. It's the bottom. No one cares.
Kevin L. came over to unbox my game (Gold #120) with me last nite (that's him in the pic). I didn't have room in my pin-room to set it up so we just did it in my living room lol....I have to sell a game or move something to the garage to get it in its proper place, but I was too lazy to do it last nite.

Quoted from northvibe:mmm Don't they ship on a pallet? I think they do. If not, the shipping company f'd something up :/
Mine did. That's super weird if it wasn't.
Quoted from BenetBoy78:Its such a tight fit the glass doesn't slide down and complicate the lock bar install. Nice. I am not reaching for a lock down bar while the glass is slowly sliding out in a cantilever stressing me it will break.... Another improvement.
Haha, that's the first thing Kevin & I noticed as we took the glass off....I felt like such a nerd for noticing and "ooohing and aaahing" about it (my girlfriend was like WTF) ...but the glass DOES feel super smooth and nice when it slides out - and it's snug, so it won't slide out on its own.
Quoted from BenetBoy78:Can one of you guys/gals explain why the MMrLE DMD shows a multicolor beautiful Medieval Madness logo on start-up, but than everything else is just a Hulk green color? Why no multi-color as a ColorDMD offers?
Currently you can change the color in the MMr menu. Mine is purple right now...but gold and silver look nice too!
Full color code will come later as an update.
Quoted from worldofglenn:Would be great to know some of the rgb combinations for gold and silver.....
You don't need them, you just pick gold or silver. The combos are listed tho:
image.jpg image-325.jpg image-348.jpg image-517.jpgQuoted from Crash:Has anyone tried hooking up a DMD from a game sitting next to MMR? I'm not sure if there would be enough cable length to run the power cable from the other game and the ribbon cable from MMR. You would probably have to sit the DMD on a stool or something between the two if you can get it hooked up.
I can't imagine it's possible. Im no techno-so-and-so, but MMr is outputting the info as though it's a computer monitor image. When you turn it on, there's a high rez MM logo for the bootup screen...and the MMr CGC menus aren't "dots" style art.
Quoted from Pintucky:How do you do this? I went all through the menu and couldn't find either. Any tips would be appreciated.
Mike in Kentucky
Hold the "exit" button inside the coin door for a few seconds - the MMr specific menu will pop up.
Quoted from Tmezel:Who do you contact to find out when your game is shipping?
The distributor you bought it from.
Quoted from John_I:How does it play?
Plays great! Last nite I had two royal madnesses and was one castle away from King of Payne! 100 mil or so. That's good for me - I've never had a really killer game on MM before ...until now! Wheee!
Quoted from Pimp77:Any updates on the sound issue?
The sound's actually pretty good. Voices are super clear. My conclusion is that it sounds a bit flat due to the backbox speakers chosen. I hooked it up to an external subwoofer and there's way more depth now. Eventually I'm gonna put better speakers in the backbox and then it'll be super solid.
Some of the voice levels are too low IMO and get drowned out by the music and sound FX...not sure if the original was that way, too....but if there's a discrepancy, it's probably from using the uncompressed files.
On the PPS forum, Rick said he's requested CGC to either tweak the voice levels or include an option for the user to adjust music/voice independently.
BTW - I forget if I posted about this...but I did notice some stereo separation - but only during attract mode. Depending on which flipper button you press, the voice clip will come from the left or right speaker. B/W speakers are wired together and go to one output. On MMr, each speaker has its own output.
Quoted from Pimp77:Yeah, but who wants baby crap yellow trim?
Fix your eyes, thank you.
MMr_GOLD.jpegQuoted from marspinball:How long should it take to receive my game if I'm in Southern California? Just got notification mine is being released today. Thanks Martin
Might land Friday...if not, Monday for sure.
Quoted from labnip:are the positions/locations of the channel parts closer together than on MM?
...or are the channel parts a different design, with less space for the glass?
thx
The glass is smooth and tight. It's actually pretty awesome. It's not hard to get out, it just feels different than the "lock bar off, glass slides off on its own" feeling you're used to.
Quoted from whitey:Im waiting for # 24 in all honesty the sticker on the apron looks a little cheesy
It's not a sticker
image.jpgI finally got my plastic protectors, Mantis protectors, Cliffy colored posts on...also changed the castle spots to white and purple & swapped out some of the red flasher domes for greens in the front, purples in the back, and yellows inside the castle.
Here are some pics - enjoy! Hope the rest of you dudes get yours soon!
image.jpg image-684.jpg image-924.jpg image-508.jpg image-150.jpg image-929.jpg image-266.jpg image-234.jpg image-539.jpg image-258.jpgQuoted from VegasAlleycat:Looks good Greg (got your name right this time!)--I like the purples by the castle. I installed my plastic protectors a couple days ago. Actually came with two extra plastic protectors that I can't find the plastics for! I notice your drawbridge closes all the way up too--mine sags a little. Guess I will have to try and adjust that.
Don't adjust it. It's supposed to sag. I prob bashed it with the ball before I took the pics.
Quoted from sensfreak:Where did you guys get your plastic protectors? I am hoping to have mine in the next 2 weeks.
Pinbits.
Quoted from Nilroc:Let's be honest that so called plaque looks like a cheesy fridge magnet!
Looks fine to me and doesn't detract from my enjoyment of the game. Almost up to 200 plays! Woo!
Quoted from kidchrisso:Is there any way to light up the Dragon so he glowes? He always looks so dark and unimpressive.
He does have a flasher inside of him...but because the plastic is so opaque, it doesn't really flash through him. Has anyone ever made a translucent dragon replacement? Shouldn't be that hard...the wings are translucent - use the same material.
Quoted from fosaisu:Already mentioned (and pictured) in this thread, but eXidy has MMr #161 on route at the 1UP Colfax in Denver.
I keep finding myself dropping by "on the way home" from work to put a few games on it. Still can't get over the feeling of playing a new MM! Only complaint, as mentioned here, is that the sound is noticeably scratchy which seems insane given that better sound quality was a selling point. I hope PPS/CGC get that ironed out quickly.
Hey guys, just did a quick 'n dirty iPhone video of my MMr if anyone's curious how it looks/sounds/plays in a home environment. Not sure why their sound is scratchy. I usually have my volume at 7 - I put it up to 10 for this video...really loud but not scratchy.
Quoted from o-din:I guess another question is will they release the full color display update for the first remake before they announce the second.
They will.
Quoted from ghetoprobe:That said, the empty promises and terrible response/support from PPS/CGC has my wallet closed tight. Until they address the slingshot damage on my playfield (not likely), and we get the colored dots that were promised, I just can't keep supporting companies that blatantly don't give a damn about their customers.
I think like most of these arcade companies, they're just a bit old fashioned when it comes to communication. They're not used to the home customer...they're used to distributors and operators. That being said, after speaking to the CGC guys on multiple occasions, they really do care about their customers. They've listened to customer input which resulted in the fade-level options for the LEDs and the upcoming code update which fixes the screen-tearing on the display amongst other fixes and adjustments. Color dots are being worked on and will be released. 100%....and when they hit, I think we'll all understand why they took so long.
Quoted from o-din:Pretty anazing after two years it still hasn't been done while colorDMD is cranking them out at a record pace. I remember you said it was ready almost three months ago.
Well, things happen. They're doing something different than Color DMD. It'll be worth the wait. Since most people don't even have their game yet, it won't even be much of a wait for most.
Quoted from metallik:Sounds like they've determined it cannot be done with the hardware in the game, and are working on an intermediary board or similar solution.
No. Software update.
Quoted from metallik:If so, they could conceivably add more detail or frames
Quoted from metallik:, but I'm also thinking this thing is going to be at an additional cost.
No. Software update.
Quoted from metallik:If their "fix" for the slingshot problem was simply a non-standard plunger and Xeroxed instructions, I wouldn't expect anything WRT free color upgrades.
Expect a software update.
Quoted from metallik:BTW that's a pretty good spin on the almost 2 year wait for most of these games. You should run for office... you got the makings of a career politician.
No.
Quoted from metallik:You seem pretty certain, so I assume you've spoken w someone at CGC. Can you say with 100% certainty that this will be a software-only update? Can you say 100% certainty whether it's a free update?
If they can do colorDMD quality or better on the existing beagle board without negatively impacting the emulation of the game itself, I give significant kudos to CGC's programming team.
Here's what I understand. There's going to be a software update that fixes tearing 'n bugs 'n stuff first. You'll need an SD card for the update - so you might have to go out and buy an SD card if you don't have one...but you don't have to literally pay for the update. The Color update will come later. I'm assuming it's free because it's part of the platform - it's not an extra part. I can't imagine how they'd charge for it unless you had to specifically buy the Color SD card direct from them....I highly doubt that would happen, and if it did - they'd sell 1 and then people would share the file. So - I'm 99.99% certain it's free.
Quoted from viper001:The last time this issue dusted up you made similar statements. Then you went over and asked Rick on his forum what the deal was. He in no way told you that this would be a freebie to the folks that already own the game. And he certainly gave no guarantees or time frames on when it would be done. "We are working on it" is not a guarantee, it's a polite way of saying go away.
Rick isn't CGC.
Well look - we still have to wait a bit. So - when it hits, you can either tell me "cool, you were right" or "hahaha you stupid f*ck".
Enjoy!
Quoted from o-din:Lately it seems he only uses pinside when he has something new to sell.
I'm sure he plans on selling MMr's for a long time...and future games after that. So, posting here is a good thing - he just needs to have thicker skin when it comes to criticism or negative feedback & ignore it. It's the internet...that's how it goes.
Quoted from jfh:You forget who we are talking about.
Generally people are incapable of change at a certain point....but, we can always hope one can reflect and improve.
Quoted from RobT:Sweet! And you went with Stainless trim. Good call.
Four months of golden goodness would debate the goodness of that call!
Quoted from RobT:I don't think the term "golden" means what you think it means.
No, it does.
Quoted from o-din:It was a good experience because I got to try it and then walk away. Now I know first hand exactly what it is.
...and we know exactly what you are.
Quoted from elcolonel:This may sound stupid, but what exactly are the differences, between an LE and a Standard?
-Numbered plaque on the apron
-Shaker included
-Gold trim (or choice of Stainless or Black)
-Full wood cabinet bottom (MDF on Standard)
-Inside of cab fully painted black
Quoted from elcolonel:Is the plaque, like a piece of paper, in the rules or pricing slot? Can somebody with a MMR, take a close-up and post.
Look on page 3 of this thread.
Quoted from ledge:what was the thinking of PPS to get JJP as a distributor? seriously, they have enough on their plate already.
PPS could have done without them imo.
JJP is a pinball maker.
Pinball Sales is a distributor.
Same owner, different operation. Selling MMr's has no bearing on Hobbit work.
Quoted from S37VEN:The mantis castle left eject protector doesn't fit.
I have all the Mantis protectors on mine and they fit perfectly.
Quoted from S37VEN:So was there a gap between the VUK and playfield on the long side of where the protector would go on your machine? Or did you just remove the VUK, install the protector and reinstall the VUK?
Bingo, you have to remove the VUK!
Quoted from S37VEN:The VUK is flush to the playfield, so there is no gap for the protector to slide into. I assumed that installing the protector wouldn't require shifting the entire VUK out of place in order to make room for the protector. Good to know that doing so won't affect the kickout.
I guess I'm not following your problem. All I know is I ordered a set of the Mantis protectors and I installed them all. So, they all fit.
Quoted from kidchrisso:Clearly the color is the shit... who cares about the fuckin tearing when the pimpin upgrade is right around the corner. Why would you not upgrade to the BAD ASS COLOR...? It is gonna blow away the original once it's complete.
I spoke with the Chicago Gaming dudes at Expo - you have to update to the non-tearing code before you update to color...so, we're all gonna have to do it anyway. Release that update, CGC!
Quoted from extraballingtmc:Sure not a lot of new machines being opened.
I can't imagine anyone preordering a second remake title after this.
Only if I can order it and have it within the month.
Quoted from DCfoodfreak:Thought you were in TBL..
I pre-ordered that last year before the shit hit the fan on every single pinball manufacturer in one way or another. I'm talking about 2015 onward.
Quoted from Pimp77:While I still think SS is the way to go, the black does look sweeeet! Both are much better than baby poop yellow.
I guess you haven't seen one yet? It's gold, bro.
Quoted from Pimp77:LOL...I knew Rarehero would swoop in and defend the precious gold. I've seen it, don't like it. Doesn't mean everyone sees it like I do, and it's cool you dig it. That's all that really matters. Enjoy. Hell, I wish I would have went gold at this point because then I'd probably have my damn game already instead of this endless wait! You don't play the trim.
It's not that it's precious - it's just that the insults aren't warranted when the reality is - IT'S GOLD.
Quoted from VolunteerPin:What is the general consensus on how the gold trim looks in person? I'm not sure how much I like it just from the photos. Would like to hear from people who have seen it or have it.
Thanks,
Darin
It's great! It's an LE. Black or Stainless is too normal.
Quoted from doughslingers:You are gonna miss out on a great pin. One so many are asking for? Title to be revealed in March
So many are asking for, eh?
BIG BANG BAR?!?!?!
Quoted from indypinhead:Have to agree.
I've had me MMr for 1 year now. No problems at all.
Mine landed a year ago today! Still enjoying it! Want the damn color update tho
Quoted from eggbert52:Welcome back brotha! Missed ya! Now get RobT back!
ROOOOOOOOOOOOBBBBBBBBBB!!!!!!!!!!!
*shrug*
I tried.
Quoted from Mycal:Took a quick video of MMR color software this weekend at PAGG. Game was "for display only" but a friend and I got a chance to play it. Confirmed that the software arrived just before the show started. No info on pricing or release. Looked very cool and nicely detailed.
» YouTube video
Look great - looks like they've changed the dots (for scores & text) to a solid fill square style (like 8-bit on Color DMD). Now c'mon, RELEASE IT AL READY!
Quoted from JoeJet:They could not come up with a hotter damsel? Or is there s fugly one in the original also?
There's a different one every time. That's the "fat lady sings" damsel
Quoted from IdahoRealtor:I pried and the dealer who was showing off the upgraded animations at Pinagogo told me the upgrade will cost $200 for LE owners and $400 for Standard owners. It looked nice, but that's a lot of cheddar for a software upgrade. He told me "unoficially", so don't hold me to it.
Bleh...I won't cry about $200, but still - bleh. $400 is ballsy. Charging that much for software when that's what gets you ColorDMD hardware? Over the line!
Quoted from rennervision:My day finally arrived - a standard MMR was delivered today. For 2 1/2 years I felt like the one oddball that wasn't getting an LE. Shouldn't the LEs by definition be more rare than the Standards?
Wait, you ordered yours 2 1/2 years ago ? The Standards were the same price as the LE ....why didn't you just get the LE? You're now going to pay extra for the shaker that would have been included.
